Sewer water was coming up both in the tub and shower in our bathrooms as the result of a clogged drain. The plumber routed out both clean-outs, which cleared the drain. The clog was a bunch of tree roots. Hudson plumbing did an excellent job of clearing the drain and getting our toilets to flush clear.

The two men arrived at the very end of the two hour window they had given me, but got right to work researching the clog in the main line and cleaning it out by going up on the roof and putting a line down the vent. They were pleasant to have around, quick workers, professional.

Hubby changed a leaking exterior hose bib/pool fill valve. We thought he did a great job, until later in the day when we noticed that the stucco wall around the hose bib appeared to be wet. Upon noticing that the carpet was wet on the inside of the house, too, we believed that the water pipe broke inside the wall. It was Saturday at 4:00 and we knew this was not going to be a cheap fix. Larry promptly arrived, cut a hole in the stucco around the hose bib, confirmed exactly what we thought happened, and sweated it back together. He also showed us that the contractor did a very poor job sweating the pipe when the house was built 20 years ago. Says he sees this all the time. Just a little bit of tugging from the home owner and the pipes come loose.

Came promptly and fixed the problem, returned promptly, pleasant.

Called both numbers numerous times, left my number, Mr.Hudson never returned my calls.

Larry and his associate arrived at 8:45. (Their time window was 8-10 am.) They investigated the wall next to our master bathroom shower. I was concerned that moisture in the wall was being caused by faulty plumbing. They determined that it was actually the shower enclosure that was the problem--not the plumbing. They also had the names of several people who they thought could fix it. I assumed I would have to pay them at least an hour's minimum for the service call (as I have had to do with companies in the past). When I mentioned this they laughed and said I owed them nothing. (They were here for under five minutes.) Still, they drove all the way here and most companies would have charged me something. I appreciated that a lot and will be calling them again.

Mostly the job went well. I believe all of the work required more time than he originally estimated. He removed the old dishwasher from the premises. The upstairs bathroom faucet work was not completed because he could not remove a decorative part without marring it. He took pictures of the faucet handle assembly so that he could locate a replacement for the part that would require defacement. Although paid in full per estimate, we've not heard from him again. Our follow-up telephone call did not result in the promised return and repair. Promises not kept don't leave a good final impression.

They were great. Whenever it backed up again, they came right out, tried really hard to find the problem. Finally after three visits it appears to be draining well. They only charged for the first visit, and didn't even charge for a camera shot. I have had them before and was please with their work.

We live in an old house where the shower facet comes out from a ceramic tiled wall. He did not have to tear up the wall, and was familiar with the old type of faucet. He commented that if he hadn't been doing this for 40 years, he wouldn't have known, and I tend to believe him, another plumber hadn't.

When I made the appointment he said I'd be his first stop coming between 8am and 9am. At 9:30 I called and asked if he was going to show up. They said he should be there within 30 minutes. He showed up sometime after 10 am. I was annoyed that they never called to let me know they were running late. However, Larry was nice and I got over it. I took time off of work and would have greatly appreciated a call updating me on the appointment time. The other thing that bothered me is that when I called to make the appointment, I asked for a ball park price on the job I needed. He never mentioned the $40.00 trip surcharge when he gave me a phone estimate of the work. So that was a surprise I didn't like. However, before he started the work in my house he gave me an estimate and that was when I found out about the trip charge. He did do good work.

The main drain to our house was clogged on a Saturday. Because this company has a very good rating on Angie's List, we called them. We got an answering machine asking us to leave a message. We did, but the company never called back.

Quick, in and out in an a couple hours.

I was extremely pleased with the service and I highly recommend him for such work. He was clean, he was well organized, and he cleaned up all the installation debris before leaving the job site.

Larry first came to give me an estimate. Since my insurance company was paying for the repair, I had several other estimates. Larry's estimate, attitude, knowledge and demeanor far outshone each of the others. When Larry came to do the work, he was on time, friendly, and explained the problem clearly to me. He gave me the old parts which he replaced and explained why the problem had occurred. I have been in this house 27 years, and have used numerous plumbing companies. Obviously, I have never had one which inspired such confidence. I will recommend Larry Hudson Plumbing to all of my friends and will always use him from now on. Amazingly, the estimate had been over $400, but Larry gave me a 15% discount which brought my bill to just $399!

There was some contract work on my shower that was less ideal. The grout was poorly done. The shower looks and works great, but the grout falls out and is hard to clean. I will have to replace. All the other plumbing is great.

Larry Hudson, who did all of the talking, is a charming gentleman and his assistant was quiet and polite. They arrive as scheduled for the initial consultation and told me that I would need approximately $150 worth of work and set a date to do the work. On that day, they told me I needed other things which totaled $418. I agreed thinking that the problem would be solved. It wasn't. I called them back, they came, and said that even more work needed to be done and that they would do it for a price much less than other plumbers might. I decided to check with a few contractor friends and another plumbing company. No one understood why Hudson did the work they did. It was unnecessary. The work they were going to do second was the work they should have done first. I spent $418 for no good reason. By the way, the company which ultimately did the job charged me less than Hudson said he would have charged me for his second fix! Hudson did not ruin anything and what they actually did caused no problem, but it wasn't needed! I felt really bad spending money unnecessarily, especially in this economy. All this happened in the summer, and I only now finally simmered down enough to write this report.

They came out and did a very fine job. They didn't even charge for the assessment. They were very professional. I've recommended them to others and will be having them out do several other jobs I have that need to be done.

They showed up promptly as scheduled. They were polite and seemed to be knowledgeable about all things plumbing. They took digital photos of the areas to be affected. They told me they would prepare two estimates. One for the work that I had requested and one for options that they felt would make the project more functional. I never received an estimate. I waited 3-weeks and then called them to make sure that they had my correct contact information. That was over one month ago and I have still not been contacted. They seemed like decent people. I would have accepted a simple response of we are not interested in this project, or it is not cost effective. I took time off work to get an estimate that never came.

Friendly, good, reasonably priced service. Will call again for plumbing service.

I made an appointment at my son's condo for an estimate/work on installing a new short water line to the refrigerator ice maker/water dispenser, and to see if a new handle could be installed on the hot water dispenser in the sink. He was supposed to show up on Wed.; when I called no one answered, I waited for him for two hours. He called later saying he "forgot" our appointment, how about the next day? The next day he came and right away said he "wouldn't touch" the ice maker line because it was plastic, that it had to be completely replaced. That was OK until he ripped into why the hot water dispenser was installed wrong and that he "didn't want the liability" of replacing the handle or the unit itself when the handle didn't stay on. I found him rude and condescending, and am amazed that he has gotten as good a write-up as he has on Angie's List.

Plumber failed to show up and then eventually showed up the next day, but very late. He promises to be at the house at a certain time, but is habitually LATE. Plumber originally quoted one price, but doubled the price once work had already begun. Plumber originally said things could be done a certain way when quoting the job, but once the job was started, plumber added stuff on just to make more money for himself. Don't be fooled by plumber's 50 years of experience and the happy tune he sings while working. He is singing because he is stealing your money. This guy is laughing all the way to the bank by quoting one price and then charging another. The worst part is he is NOT even a good plumber. They made a mess. The faucets they put on are NOT tightened properly. They do not caulk anything so the faucets move around. Don't let the nice guy routine fool you. This guy is NOT a good plumber; he just wants your money.

They arrived on time. The crew took out the old toilet, which was rocking because of bolts that were rusted through and incorrect installation, and put in the new toilet. Larry uses his own brass fixtures rather than the less durable ones that often come in the box with the toilet. There was no question that he really wants to do a quality job and give you fixtures that won't rust or break. He takes his commitment to quality and service seriously, which makes you feel like he's looking out for you.
