The sales people were very nice. Hopefully, I got a new machine and one used in sales since they gave me the same one they demonstrated the machine to me. I was assured by Dave that it was new. He thanked me for calling and letting him know my interpretation of the carpet cleaning. He would listen to the recording. And for my calling, he is giving me two new hepa bags for the vacuum. I will write an update on this. Hopefully I am being told the truth, but I thought it was important to write my experience. It is hard to give a high rating even though they were knowledgeable, courteous, and patient in their selling me a vacuum. I don't know if 1300 is a fair price. On Amazon, it was listed for 1400. On ebay, it was listed at 700 dollars.
Description of Work: I am still not sure yet, so I may be changing this. I was called even though I am on the Donotcall list by a person who told me that they were having a promotion on their business. If I liked how they cleaned my couch, then maybe I would give them referrals. It sounded like a carpet cleaning company promotion. When they came to my house, it was not a carpet cleaning company. It was Best Kirby Company. The woman said that she had to be off and that as soon as the man was done, he could call to be picked up. Because I have been through a Kirby Vacuum sales before and saw the Kirby vacuum, I knew that he was going to try to sell me a Kirby Vacuum. It was not a promotion to clean carpets, it was a sales spiel to buy a Kirby Vacuum cleaner. I listened to the spiel since I was thinking of getting a vacuum cleaner. When it was time to give me the quote, he had to call his manager to see if he could get me a good deal since I was a teacher. I was quoted the price of $1900 if I bought it that day. I said no, and mentioned that I had no opportunity to check with the Better Business (BBB). Also if they were going to pressure me to buy, he could leave. The problem was that he had to wait to be picked up. Nice as the guy was, it was uncomfortable waiting for the woman to pick him up. It also gave them another opportunity to try to get me to buy. When the woman came, she asked if the guy had shown me all the features. Then she got on the phone to see if she could get me a better price. I think it went to $1500 with her. If I couldn't afford it, I could get a company loan. I asked the interest on the loan. I was quoted $78.00 a month, but was not told the time of the loan or the interest rate. I had to ask at least 3 time, and each time, she had to call her boss. Finally, I was told 21% for three years. The sales person was very sweet, but I think these were all ways to stall and sell me a vacuum. It wasn't straight forward. Finally, the manager over the phone said that if I purchased it without the loan, I could get it for $1318. Since I was thinking of getting a vacuum and Kirby had a good reputation, I decided to purchase it. However, I can't say the sales tactics and ploy were honest and reputable. The whole experience took from 12:30 to 5:30 PM. BTW, I asked the woman if they were with the BBB prior to buying the Kirby, and she said that they used to be, but wasn't sure now. On Tuesday, I Iooked Best Kirby up with the BBB. They had an F rating. I called the manager. He explained that they had gone into business with Tide, and there were a couple of bad apples who did not take the Tide to the customers. They said they were working with the BBB to get back they A + rating. I want to believe the guy, but I have to say that it was upsetting seeing that the BBB had given them an F as a company.
