+ -1 moreDac Vo was rather brusque, & I didn't take to him much, but we were in a hurry to get the work done, & Mark Ho "guaranteed" his work. Dac Vo promised to remove not only the trees, but also the roots. He was barely here himself while the work was being done. He dropped off two workers who were unbelievably fast & hard-working, but who didn't speak English, which caused some problems. They got the trees out in about 3 hours. They removed only part of the roots. Digging in those spots to plant new trees is going to be very difficult. They damaged our courtyard tiles & the walkway on the neighbors' side of the fence. The neighbor was very angry about that. With difficulty, I got Dac Vo to return, but he refused to repair the neighbor's walkway, which would have been an easy task since it is just bricks set in sand and gravel. "Not my job," he said.
Description of Work: We had to to remove 2 large old trees. One was a mature but sad-looking magnolia in our front yard. The other was a huge ficus benjamina which had entirely engulfed our courtyard & was in the process of engulfing our whole home. It completely shaded the courtyard. Its roots were pushing up the courtyard tiles & the fence. (We had to cut about an inch a month off the bottom of the gate to get it to open, because the courtyard tiles were being pushed up so fast.) Roots were going under the adjoining garage & even beginning to go under the house slab, all the way across the courtyard. We hated to get rid of the big ficus, especially since a hummingbird & a pair of sparrows nested in it every year, but we felt we had no choice. We needed both trees & their roots removed. Dac Vo (Jimmy Tree Service)was brought in by his cousin, Mark Ho, whom we had hired to do major work in our yard.
