+ -1 moreIn the beginning we played phone tag, which was mostly my fault. After we connected and set the appointment she came out and was very helpful with suggestions and ideas. Lots of enthusiasm. She composed a list of things that she would do and told us she would get back to us in a week with next steps and costs. 4 months later...crickets. Not only was it a waste of time, but a waste of money. I prepaid her services and got nothing out of it.

+ 1 moreJill was very professional and helpful by giving us a range of choices for fireplace materials and also by drawing out how the materials would might look for each fireplace. She brought samples of materials she thought would blend with and enhance the look of our home. We were very pleased with her warm and friendly demeanor and guidance. She was never pushy, but always tried to guide us to what she perceived we would like. She also arranged for the contractor, tile person, fireplace firm and the company that made and installed all the new window treatments. The persons that worked with her to complete the work on our home were all very professional, and real craftsman at what they did The finished projects have exceeded our expectations and we couldn't be more pleased. We felt very fortunate to have found someone of Jill's deep integrity and professionalism to work with and would definitely recommend her without reservation to anyone looking for help in interior design.
Description of Work: We needed help with the remodel and updating of our two wood burning fireplaces, new window treatments for our living room, family room and kitchen, and a new dining room light fixture. She also helped us select the right color for a accent wall in one of our bedrooms.

Jill had great ideas for maximizing our space by moving furniture, paintings, mirrors, adding an accent rug, pillows, reorganizing shelves, etc. Her most helpful advice was on what NOT to do. E.g., I had considered putting a mirror wall in one room, painting the inside of shelves to try to add depth, adding a large accent piece on the wall going up my stairs. Her advice on use of negative space and color continuity was incredibly helpful. And Jill had the best "roomside" manner. She was expert, but not pushy. She listened and considered my ideas and explained why she was making each of her recommendations. Even my husband said she was worth every penny!
Description of Work: My house is small and has low ceilings. We have a big event this summer and I wanted a professional to provide ideas on how to visually maximize the space we have. It would be similar to staging a house for sale but I wanted to use my current furnishings, etc.

We went though my entire house quickly and throughly. Jill is friendly, very easy to talk with and seems to me just the kind of professional I'd choose to work with on a larger project.

She is very flexible and I liked that she encouraged me to keep many pieces that I still like. She is now doing the legwork to find new hardwood flooring that must match the existing flooring II already have in other rooms, which is no longer available.
Description of Work: I am thinking about replacing some older furniture and installing new hardwood flooring. Jill provided a two hour design consultation.

+ -1 moreI had prepared a list prior to Jill coming to the house so she would have an idea of what I wanted done in each room. I told her on the phone that I had prepared a list of items that I wanted her feedback on. She said to email it to her. When she got here we were able to really go through my list and helped clarify what we could be doing now. So, at that point my number one item was to take wallpaper off the bathroom walls. She made two referrals for someone to do that and I followed up and hired one of them to do the work. He was excellent! By giving her the list and going over it with her I prioritized the jobs. I had various jobs and our house is old and we had been here a while. I wasn't completely sure where I wanted to start. So, by talking it through with her it geled for me.

+ 0 moreOur remodel project started in February and was completed in August - it was a big project. Jill never wavered, she kept on top of the contractors, sometimes having to call and recall to demand the work be complete in a timely manner and she demanded quality. If something was not done to her standards it was re-done. She checked in with us weekly, often coming up just to look and make sure all was going well. She did a great job, she took a huge load off of my husband and I and the results are amazing - beautiful.
Description of Work: I first hired Jill Herman of J. Megan Interiors to help me decorate my bedroom, which was the most neglected room in the house. I was buying pieces and in most cases taking them back, I was very discouraged as I was spending a lot of money and time going nowhere, that’s when I realized that my attempts were neither pleasing nor cost effective, so I called Jill. I had never imagined I’d use an interior designer, mainly because I didn’t think I could afford one, but I learned that not only could I afford a designer, it saved me money. She transformed our bedroom into a bright, fun, welcoming room. I can’t walk into it and not smile, my husband and I love what she did and she stayed within our budget. When we started a large remodel of our master bath and guest bath, it took me several weeks working with contractors, who I assumed would have design ideas, only to be disappointed time and again. I called Jill and asked if she could design them, not only did she have a beautiful vision for our bathrooms, she hired the contractors, organized the time schedule and made sure the work was quality. Jill works very hard to ensure successful results. The project took several months and the end result is amazing, truly beautiful. Thank you Jill!

She suggesting moving some furniture to a different room and gave ideas for my back den, which was completely empty and unfurnished. She also suggested color ideas for an area rug and for side tables and stools. I have already gotten to work to get some things she suggested, but will not hesitate to call her again for more help!
Description of Work: Jill suggested placement of existing furniture and carpet and advised on which items I should purchase to make my 1926 Craftsman house look finished, cozy, and complete.

+ 0 moreWe were very pleased with the results. Jill helped us maximize the impact of our existing assets, just by re-thinking their placement and how they were being utilized. It was pretty amazing - I never would have thought to do some of the things she suggested!! The revamped living spaces are now some of the favorite areas in our home. The whole process was easy and actually quite fun. Jill is great to work with, friendly and down-to-earth. There was zero pressure or heavy sales vibe. Their standard rate is $95/hour, which I felt was reasonable. Overall, a very pleasant experience.
Description of Work: Worked with Living Solutions to help organize my home after the arrival of a new baby. We needed to re-configure some of our spaces, make them more usable and kid-friendly. We had mostly existing pieces to work with (furniture, rugs, artwork) and added a few new ones. Jill came over to the house several times and helped us realize the vision of our new family home.

+ 0 moreEvery thing went great. Jill was very patient with us. She created a floor plan for us before we moved (then we took some time moving in and getting settled). After a little bit we were ready to start working again. She then helped with all of the finishing touches. It was so easy!
Description of Work: We down sized into a smaller home and Jill helped us decide which items we should take and which ones we should replace. She drew up a great floor plan and helped us with paint colors (this really helped us once we moved in to know where everything should go). It was such an easy move. Once we were somewhat settled she came back and helped with the finishing touches. It really feels like home!
