+ -1 moreWhen you call Ikea, you cannot call directly to the store. After being on hold for over 20 min. the call center answered. Working with customer service on the phone, we agreed upon our sending a picture of the damage, and Ikea would call us to arrange to deliver a replacement. This was on Saturday. The following Wed afternoon, we still had not received a call or email response regarding replacing the damaged top. So we got on the phone and after another 25+ minutes, spoke again with the call center. They looked up our case and told us we have to take the part back to the store because we got it at the store. If we had had it delivered, they would deliver the replacement top. So... #1 They didn't, in 4 days and until we called back, let us know they weren't going to deliver, and #2 after arranging for us to send a picture of the damage and telling us they would then call with delivery day and time, said they won't deliver because the original piece was not originally delivered. Ikea customer service serves Ikea...not the customer. Ikea has many great products, and this review certainly won't hurt their business. But customer service in our case was non-caring and not helpful.
Description of Work: We bought a Hemnes dresser 102392.80 and some other furniture items at the San Diego store upon retiring and moving to Oceanside within this last month. Saturday we returned while visiting our daughter nearby, and purchased a 2nd identical Hemnes dresser. My husband spent the rest of the day putting it together, and as he sorted the parts, we found the top of the dresser had a 12-15" crack along the long edge. (This #3 box was at the bottom of the palette when the store loaded it on our cart). So, we called Ikea, wanting them to deliver a replacement so we wouldn't have to drive 50 miles each way to replace their damaged part.

+ -1 moreIt went badly. I didn't think I had to write two reviews. But we bought some badly made furniture. In one case the holes were put in wrong and in the other the directions of assembly were wrong; worse is they dont CARE at all. Its their mistake and YOU pay.
Description of Work: The bottom line a total nightmare. Buying stuff that is PRE CONSTRUCTED at Ikea is fine. They have nice lamps and kitchen items. No problem. But may the heavens help you if you purchase a TO BE CONSTRUCTED ITEM. The directions are wrong; holes are put in the wrong places... Oh and it gets worse. They won't make good on their mistakes.. If you buy a faulty piece and have to pay someone to put it together ( you have to be brilliant at construction to put a dresser for instance together yourself - we nor anyone we know could do it) then the piece is faulty they basically say TOUGH SH&^&&T and send you packing. They don't care. The stuff is fair as far as its durability (we're guessing) but the company is terrible and you are in deep doo doo if you buy their un assembled furniture. Good for some things. HORRIBLE for others.
