Huizars Landscape & Maintenance

Over the last three years we remodeled our home and we dealt with two contractors and many sub-contractors and there were always problems, delays and conflicting costs. It was maddening!! Working with Marco was such a pleasure!! He gave us a detailed proposal and a timeline and then he executed it! He would tell us the plan, ask for the money to complete the task and then on to the next item and check that off the list. He was extremely organized and timely. He is a good business man and he is a good person! I couldn't recommend him more. Our yard is beautiful and people in the neighborhood basically knock on our door to ask us about our yard.

We are extremely happy with the work done by Marco and his team. The work included demolition of old landscaping, concrete around pool, shallowing out of the pool and the old irrigation system, followed by installation of new plants, new concrete, new plaster, tile and coping around the pool, a new dog area, new fencing and new irrigation. Marco is very knowledgeable about all areas of this work. He is also an excellent designer. He and his team are punctual, professional and always clean up after each day’s work. He is very cost conscious and was very patient with us during the numerous changes we requested from the original plan. Only the pool work was subcontracted out but Marco oversaw that work as well. We could not be more happy with the results. He is perhaps a bit more expensive than other landscapers but it was well worth the money.

Marco Huizars and his team designed, planned, and installed our entire xeriscaped front yard with paths, hardscape, and a complete irrigation drip-system. He even fixed a drainage problem and removed a very large palm tree from my property. Since that time his crew stops by semi-annually to trim palms, replace native plants, update my dg, and make sure walking paths are neat and tidy. Neighbors always compliment our landscaping and ask me for Marco's contact information. The best part is...we're saving a lot on water and we rarely have to weed.

They were excellent. I had a yard and they cleaned it up. They made it beautiful again. They were on time, professional and they were very detailed.

1. On-time: Each morning, between 06:50-07:00 am, here they were, all of them. Whether it was six, four, or three guys needed that day - no kidding – just like clockwork the sound of truck doors closing all at once. 2. Attitude: Our family felt comfortable every single minute Marco's gentlemen worked here. Courteous, hard-working, wonderful people. 3. Experience: I think that our front yard looks like a picture in a magazine. Marco was meticulous every single step of the way. I will add pics after my garden arch gets delivered and installed at the beginning of the winding path. 4. Hard work/no loud talk/no loud music: Just work from 7 am-3 pm + good daily clean up so we would not trip on their tools and things. 5. Integrity: It is a great pleasure to recommend Marco for so many reasons. Since he tells the truth you get a glimpse into his soul when he speaks. A very good man! 6. Flexibility: I had to ask Marco for some flexibility in $ (after we got going) and he worked with me - it all turned out great but it gave me an insight into his true colors. 7. Listening skills: Hands down Marco is the man on this too. Some people pretend to listen then do what they darn well please. Not Marco. I was impressed with his ability to not only hear but actually to LISTEN and changed things mid-stream as desired. For example, I wanted a bit of lawn added at the last minute and also wanted that same lawn to project out a bit further than the original point and ... it was zero problem ... even after his men were all packed up on a Friday. 8. Conscientious focus on clean up. The property was a muddy mess after 3 weeks so the last few hours on the last day were devoted to a thorough clean up. Marco’s workers pushed stiff push brooms while Marco followed close behind with a strong pressure washer attachment (on the hose) scrubbing pavers, sidewalks, and gutters around the property. In my opinion, owner/bosses that jump in and roll up their sleeves working side-by-side with their workers - are the best people and true leaders in our communities. Marco gets an A+ here too. 9. I received a follow-up call after a couple of weeks after the project had ended. I was stunned to see Marco's call on my iPhone to check in with us to ensure everything was okay and to see if I had questions or needed him to stop by for any reason. He’s a true pro in my book. Old school quality control. Most excellent. I can’t say enough about Marco’s attention to detail where my design (provided by Kate Wiseman of Sage Outdoor Designs) was meticulously followed and where he even had a few of his own suggestions. For example, in my backyard, along the fence, I had only soil. He suggested we put gravel. It looks great until we are able to replace our back-yard fence and then we'll maybe add a hedge (which our landscape designer suggested). Also, Marco brought to my attention the fact that 7 of the plants - drawn into the design - were not available and asked if I wanted replacements for the unavailable plants or a credit. Without his noticing, I never would have known we had been shorted plants. People walk by our yard all day long and compliment us over and over. Such an improvement! Some of our neighbors just stand on the sidewalk and look at it and when we're out there give a thumbs up. I cannot recommend Marco Huizar of Huizar's Landscape highly enough. By the way, his bid was over $40,000 less than the other bid we got from another company. It's unbelievable. Look no further! (The plants and trees - for front and back yard - ordered from Village Nurseries - a wholesale nursery - came to about $3,100 which was separate from Mr. Huizar's fee of around $14k).

I have used Marco Huizar for fence repairs in 2016 and 2019. Marco and his crew were very responsive to my requests for cost quotes and very prompt in completing the work. I will use Huizar's Landscaping again in the future when I need fence repairs or other major landscape projects. Their work is professionally done and reasonable in price.

Great company. Estimator spent a good amount of time and asked a lot of questions about the scope and details of the project. This impressed me. The bid was fair and furnished promptly. Crew spent time making sure everything was right. They took ownership of the entire job, performed the work with superior craftsmanship, and followed through, thoroughly cleaning up after the work was done. The finished job turned out even better than anticipated. The completion deadline was met. Huizar's was polite, personable and professional. Outstanding customer service and intelligent workers are rare to find. I feel most fortunate to have found and hired Huizar's, would hire them again for landscape and maintenance work, and heartily recommend them to others seeking value and quality.
