This was an experience nobody wants to relive. Setting aside many of the scheduling irritations, $11,000 bought us a floor we cannot walk on with bare feet. There are tiles that stick up everywhere, and I have already cut my foot on one of them. The grout lines are all different. Some wide, some not. They also tiled up to the baseboards and grouted to the baseboard. This means there is no expansion room, so come summer there is a reasonable chance cracks may appear. Normally tilers lift baseboards and leave a groove, or use silicon grout at the edge to provide the expansion space. Efforts to get it resolved have taken me nowhere. I offered to pay all the material if Hoover Tile supplied the labour to replace the tiles and they declined (can you imagine declining an offer that generous!). Hoover offered to replace the skew tiles and when we asked him to do that he tried to charge $55.00 per hour after the first 6 tiles. He just won't stand behind his work! Hoover keeps blaming us? In the end we got a certified flooring inspector who confirmed that the problem is workmanship related. Now I have no choice ? Hoover Tile won't participate in a solution so we will let the courts settle this. And buyer beware ? He presented himself as licensed. His license had expired long before he did our work. My only advice is to find a contractor that you can trust and that has a proven track record of standing behind his work. I will never be able to recommend this contractor.
Description of Work: Removed the old carpet and limited tile and lay the same porcelain tile though-out the entire ground floor.
