Description of Work: Cleaned out ducts under house. I personally wasn't here, but my daughter said they did an excellent job. The bottom line is that the ducts don't smell any more!

Description of Work: We did not use Guthrie as they were overpriced and did not seem to be very honest. The rep. that came to our house seemed to be trying to sell us more than we needed.

Description of Work: They didn't want to repair my AC, insisted it was too old and my only option was a new system. I called another shop recommended by a friend. Flores air said the system was in great shape with a very slow leak, only down 2 pounds. Added sealant and refrig and I'm up and running at 40 degrees! Very disappointed in the lack of effort/honest by Guthrie and Sons

Description of Work: We have two units and Guthrie and Sons allowed two coupons for servicing each unit which was great. Performed tune up and provided check list (26 items)of work completed. Climbed into attic to check heating units. Zach, technician was enthusiastic about work, polite, courteous, and through with work. Would call again when needed. Great offer.

Description of Work: Ben checked my AC unit and tuned it up, cleaned it, and answered my questions about what was needed. He showed up right on time. I will definitely use the company if I need repairs in the future.

Description of Work: I purchased Angie's Deal of $79 air conditioning tune-up. The provider contacted me and we scheduled the appointment. The day before, I was sent a reminder e-mail that included photos of the technician who would be coming to my house. Zack arrived exactly on-time, looked like his photo, and was extremely professional and courteous. I felt that he tested my air conditioner and checked my system thoroughly. He found a couple of minor issues and we went over them at the end of his visit. He had a complete, understandable write-up for us to discuss. He pointed out a couple of issues, but did not over-dramatize to make me feel that I HAD to fix them today or risk burning down my house. He was calm, answered my questions without hedging or high pressure - and above all, professional. As I result, I did ask Guthrie to complete the work he recommended - and signed up for a furnace check-up in the fall. Guthrie's scheduler contacted me as promised. She was helpful and the follow-up visit was scheduled according to MY preference. Top marks all the way! ~Judi Swidryk

Description of Work: I called several companies to come out for a bid to install a new HVAC in my 40 year old condo. I had been doing my research on the ratings for HVAC models and brands. He called today to tell me that due to my peculiar physical arrangement for my air handler, they didn't have access to the types of units I would need. They could get them, but it would be pretty pricey. But he offered to help me brainstorm on my other choices of models. It was very nice to have a subjective view on the choices I had been given. We did not discuss companies, just HVAC models, how dependable, etc. I would definitely recommend calling them for a bid....and I'm sorry I wasn't able to use them. Sound like a very "up front" company.

Description of Work: We called Guthrie & Sons because the A/C in the house we purchased in March , 2012 was not cooling.Matt arrived on time and told me that the freon in the system was low and required approximately 9 pounds at $65 per pound ($585). I called my husband who said to go ahead with the freon. Then Matt tested the capacitor and said that was bad and he could let me have a new capacitor for $260 (regularly $350). Then Matt said that the system required a "booster" for the capacitor. I didn't ask for a price. Then Matt said the the compressor was bad and that he would not recommend repairs; the entire system needed to be replaced and his company could finance the cost for us. The cost would be "about $2,000". My husband was in a meeting so I called a friend for advice. He told me to tell Matt to go home and that he would come over to look at the A/C. My friend bought a new capacitor for $20, installed it for me, and the A/C has been running wonderfully since.

Description of Work: Ben came and accomodate the earliest appointment available for us (7am). We were expecting for the worst for our new home's AC but Ben thoroughly inspected it and advised that we only needed to recharge the freon. Another HVAC company had actually inspected this unit when we were in the midst of purchasing it and they stated that it needed more work done which would have cost us close to $500. We are so glad that we signed up for Angies List and were able to locate reputable companies such as Guthries. Will definitely use them again!

Description of Work: Had both a new furnace and airconditioner put in. After a year the airconditioner works . We love it. However gripes about the Trane furnace. It is noisy and for some reason our supposedly energy- stared furnace is costing us more than our good old furnace. It is also as noisy as the old one from the inside. All salesmen who came to look at our furnace said they could run a pvc through our old absestos one to the ceiling. However, the workman said they could could not do it. They ran the pvc so it opened up near the garage. From the outside, you can hear the furnace run a half a block away. The pvc looks bad sticking out. As for the workmanship, they were pleasant enough. We did freeze for a week, waiting for them to come back and fix what ever was wrong. They left some stuff behind. Other than that they were friendly enough.
