The technician, Ben, was professional and did a thorough job with the furnace inspection.  He replaced the filter and provided us with a maintenance checklist detailing everything he'd inspected.  We were pleased with the experience.
When we began experiencing problems with our AC unit in the summer of 2012, we called Guthrie and Sons.  Unfortunately, they were booked solid because of the heat wave, and so we had another company do a service call.  The other company told us that we'd likely need to replace the compressor or the whole AC unit.  We again called Guthrie and Sons to give us estimates for replacing the compressor or the entire unit.  Joe Patrick came out and was both personable and professional.  He provided a thorough estimate with costs similar to those from other companies.  He also responded promptly to questions that I subsequently emailed to him.  We ultimately decided to put off replacing the AC unit; however, we would continue to consider Guthrie and Sons for our future HVAC needs.

They were selected because of the remerks on Angie's list. They are a family owned business and I always find that a family owned business is more concerned about their work and reputation.

I received three estimates prior to calling them but was not comfortable with any of the salespeople who had come to my home.  I decided, given the amount of money I planned to spend, to buy an Angie's list membership and read some reviews.  You can trust the reviews for Guthrie & Sons, as every positive comment matched my experience.  This is a family-owned company run very efficiently and proudly.  They do what they say they are going to do and have deep experience in the heating and air business.  Without disparaging their competitors, they set themselves apart in every way:  phone calls, appointments, cleanliness, politeness, professionalism, follow-up.  Most importantly, they are extremely thorough about how they install the equipment as industry statistics show that installation errors are the greatest cause of downstream service calls. They cut NO corners.  They were not the least expensive option I examined but I am very convinced I made the best selection.  One company did not even go into my attic to look at the ductwork.  Another company tried to convince me I needed all new ductwork.  This turned out not to be true at all.  To give an example of Guthrie & Sons customer-service orientation, I have a very small patio and was concerned about the footprint of the A/C unit.  I noticed the slab the unit would sit on was larger than the A/C unit by a few inches on all sides.  They went out of their way to call around to find a smaller slab.  One was located within an hour and the father purchased it and drove it to my house.  I was astounded!  I would highly recommend this team of professionals for heating and air needs, including their more thorough maintenance routine.  On top of all that, they are Christians.  I found out only because I carried my daily devotional (a small book) past them to go to another room while they were working.  They all noticed it and we got to talking about it.  (Otherwise, it would never have come up.)  Some fine people raised these sons the right way.  It is evident in all they do.

Their service was good.  They had a problem getting it going initially due to a wiring glitch.  They had to come back a couple times.  Each time they were really nice and they were good about an issue.  It wasn’t an issue because of their install; it was just one of those things that had happened.

The guys were prompt, professional, honest, didn't try to sell me more than I needed and honored the Angie's List coupon for both AC units. Did exactly what I wanted and checked and re-checked to be sure all was working well. We were pleased with them and would use them again.

We had a remarkably positive experience with this company which we choose based on their  Angie's list rating. There was friendly and professional advice at the beginning of the project followed by timely high quality execution and a close out visit where we got extensive information about the systems function and were encouraged to ask question and to bring up complaints any time in the future. It definitely was not easy to get all the old stuff off the attic through a narrrow opening in the ceiling and to replace it by the new equipment.They worked with great care so we did not detect any damage. Further they cleaned up very efficiently. It speaks for the companie's ethics that all people we had contact with during our project were respectful and very good in what they were doing.We recommend Guthrie's wholeheartedly.

Tested the A/C and added 3 lbs of freon to the system.  Matt was great.  Gave them a C for responsiveness, but of course I called them during the heat wave so I had to wait 10 days for them to arrive.

These guys were great. They were on time for the estimate, the installation and the follow-up. They were very knowledgeable about the type of unit I needed and were willing to work with my somewhat limited schedule. During the installation, they showed me how my system worked and checked my air filter. I appreciated that they provided a follow-up after the installation to make sure everything was working correctly and that I was happy with the job - which I was and still am. Their price was competitive with other estimates I got but ultimately I chose them because of their superior customer service.

Guthrie and Sons installed our 3 ton A/C TRANE unit in late March 2012 or early April 2012.  August 6, our A/C stopped working.  We had to wait 5 days in the summer heat for someone to come out and repair it.  August 10, it was fixed in the mid afternoon.  Today, 8/18/2012 it doesn't work again.  They had to repair it with some shims and permagum which doesn't sound like a real fix to me.  Kind of like having a leaking fuel line in your car and repairing it with duct tape in my opinion.  My point seems to be proven in that the fix only lasted a week.  Of course, it had to stop working on a Saturday.  I called several times between 1pm and 2:45pm but only got voicemail, no answering service or a live person.  I finally got through to our salesperson but by then I'd already contacted another company to come do the repair.  Ironically, they never showed up on Saturday between the 4pm - 8pm window they promised so I guess these A/C companies are as bad as roofers.  We're stuck with these guys and I'm sure we're gonna play the "it works/it doesn't work game" where they'll fix it and say let's see what happens and call us if you have a problem and then it'll break again on a weekend.  To pay this much money and not have it working only 4 months later is really unacceptable.  And the fact that they didn't fix it when they came out to do the repair in my opinion is just a lack of competence to get the job done right the first time.  We purposely replaced or 19 year old Carrier A/C in March (the off season) because we were afraid it would break down in the height of the hot season.  The last laugh is on us I guess because the heat can stop a TRANE in a heartbeat.  This will probably get fixed by itself once the weather breaks and the next time it breaks down, next summer, our warranty will be up and we'll have to pay through the nose for poor workmanship from the getgo.  It's very frustrating and disappointing - not to mention uncomfortable!!

Ben came to the house and did a complete inspection of my existing HVAC unit. Although the unit is 18 years old and needs to be replaced soon, Ben did not give me a hard sell to do the replacement immediately. He asked for the opportunity to provide an estimate when i decide to conduct the replacement. He was very knowledgeable and professional the entire time. The price was excellent and the work top notch. I will definitely use them when i need more HVAC work. Highly recommended.

Over the years we have had a few AC companies come to our house and each time we opted for any other option! HOWEVER right from the start Ben from Guthrie came to our house was friendly, professional, polite and verbally engaging!  Ben spent over an hour up in our attic and found we had a cracked pan for one of the units. Also, as he was checking the units for other problems he found that there was a gap in the duct to one of the units. Someone from another company had actually removed some of the screws from duct attachment which allowed that AC unit to draw hot air from the attic . Which explanes why we had hotter than normal air upstairs when that AC was engaged. Ben replaced the screws and immediately we had cool air! We arranged for Guthrie to return to our house when the parts were secured and to clean our air ducts.  We also purchased the Angie's List Air Duct Cleaning Coupon Special for Guthrie which was a  savings of @$100! The following week Matt, Andrew and Fernando from Guthrie  came  to  our house and spent the day replacing the needed parts and cleaning our air ducts.  Matt, Andrew and Fernando are equally friendly, professional, and very hard working!  Guthrie is a family business and it it very obvious that they care and treat customers like a good family! Each of the brothers and Fernando are more like family friends than just a company! They took their time and did the job right!
Also, I was doubtful that the air duct cleaning would really be noticeable, however, I would now recommend this procedure from Guthrie to EVERYONE! Guthrie removed and cleaned every air duct vent in our house (we have over 18). Then, as one of them was outside cleaning the air duct vents the others were inside cleaning each air duct with a  brush and vacuum. They hand cleaned each air duct! After cleaning the inside air ducts they disinfected  them  with and environmentally friendly disinfectant! What a difference this process has made in our air quality! Our house smells noticeably better!!
If you have any Heating and AC needs this is the company to call because they will treat you like  a good family! They know what they are doing and do not try push any other service or product! They are very good at what they do and take pride in their work! This combination is rare! We will absolutely have Guthrie return for maintance and any issue in the future and would very highly reccommend them to everyone. Do not hesistate to call them !

I purchased the tune up as one of Angie's List "Big Deals." There were several other AC "big deals" offered at the same time. I selected Guthrie & Sons Heating and Air because it is a family owned business and I liked their personal pledge to their customers (as listed on their website.) I'm very glad that I did. The service appointment was set up easily with the office staff. The technician, Ben (one of the sons), was very professional as well as personable. He arrived on time, went right to work, and spent the time to do a complete inspection and tune up. He provided a lengthy checklist of the work he did and he reviewed it with me at the completion of the job. It didn't seem like it was "just a job." He seemed to really care about the work he did and about making sure my system worked correctly and was safe for me and my family. I appreciated that commitment which I think is from being part of a family owned business. I will definitely use Guthrie & Sons for my future AC and heating needs. 
 FYI--this was the first "big deal" I purchased on Angie's List and I wasn't sure of what to expect. I thought maybe the technician would use it as an opportunity to "up sell" and try to talk me into additional work. That definitely was NOT the case!

The technician arrived right on time as scheduled.    He climbed up on the roof and carefully serviced and cleaned my ten year old air conditioning unit.   He took photos  of a problem with the control panel, showed them to me and explained very clearly what caused the problem.   He also cleaned the filters in my mini split air conditioner.  The job took about  about an hour and fifteen minutes.
He did a better job than anybody has before explaining how the mini split should be operated and confirmed problems with my rooftop unit that I have always suspected, but no other service company has every identified. 
This was definitely the best air conditioning service call I have had in several years.

They were very quick. They came out the same day I called and installed the unit the very next day. I was very impressed with this.

I got them from Angie's List. They were wonderful and very professional. The price was right, and they knew exactly what they were doing. We had a complicated mess that they had to fix and they did. They also had a referral for us for a painter that was wonderful. They came back an additional time to explain how the thermostat stuff works. They cleaned up well. They were just great, we really liked them. We would refer anybody to them, they are really good.

It was an absolute please doing business with them at no time did feel like JUST a customer. At no point during the Estmate proccess did I fee rushed to make a discession, We talked therough my options and then setup the installation and they even helped with Financing. And and all my questions were answered the fist time. My concerns were important and they was told tye wold handle it and make it right no matter what,

They put covers on their shoes when they entered the home so they do not get the carpet/ rugs different. I have had many people come to my home and have never had anyone like them. They are good hardworking men. They gave me a good price. They cleaned up after themselves. The unit runs beautiful. They were so nice. They hire a lot of veterans which is nice.
