They helped us with our own house, giving us a VERY HONEST evaluation of our system's problems and an affordable option instead of a high pressure pitch to upgrade. I bought an AC check coupon for $89 from Angie's list which included one pound AC coolant. I was concerned that my AC unit hadn't been serviced in 10 years and that a few rooms in the house did not seem to get cool. Jessie scheduled me quickly and Zach came to my home on time. Zach was terrific. He wore booties to cover his shoes in the house to keep my carpets clean, checked out all the duct work in the attic, changed two vent filters for me by cutting a piece of filter material he had in his truck (because we did not have extra filters), and refilled the missing coolant from the AC. He told me we probably had a small leak but since the AC is old it is not worth it to look for the leak because the repair cost would be too high for such an old unit. He did not try to sell me a new unit right now, only he gave me a 'heads up' that it might go in the next few years. We got the free one gallon and had to pay for two more gallons which he then topped off our AC unit with. He did not charge me for a partial gallon when it took slightly more than 3. All in all I was very pleased with how this went and I would consider using them when my AC eventually does go. Hopefully I get another two years or more with it if it is a very slow leak. If you need AC work done I think these would be great people to use - neat, reliable, reasonably priced.

The guy was incredibly honest, he wasn't pushy, he wasn't trying to sell anything. Did a great job, neat and tidy. Honest, thorough and reasonable.

I bought the $95 super deal to have my clothes dryer lint trap cleaned out along with all the vents and tubing. Guthrie & Sons had a guy over to my house within a week to do the job. Before, I paid Sears to do the same job. They guy who came by did twice the amount of work on my clothes dryer venting than the two Sears guys previously. He cleaned things that I didn't know existed ! He went into my attic to check on the vent pipe, brushed it, vacuumed it and blew it out ! It was a thorough job that was professionally done. Now I know what a great vent cleaning job is like.

There quotes are reasonable, they are on time, they do the work, they are clean, the respect your home. They have salesman who did a good job of following up with me. They were right on time, they were there when they said they would be.

Great. After reconsidering and talking with Gutherie and Sons the next day, I realized that it was a job I could very easily do myself and they kindly agreed. This is why I am requesting a refund. They were very professional, helpful and nice and if I ever do need their services, I would not hesitate to call.

I had accepted Angie's Deal for an air conditioning "tune-up" for $79. Guthrie & Sons representative contacted me promptly and we set the initial appointment. the day before, Jessie (service coordinator) confirmed the appointment and sent me an e-mail that included a photo of the tech who would be doing the work. Zack M. arrived on time and made sure to cover his shoes with booties before walking on my carpet! He went to work immediately. He thoroughly inspected the air conditioning unit - inside and outside my house. When he was finished, he made sure that he left no dirt, fingerprints or footprints behind. We sat down to discuss his findings. He pointed out that he had found two things that were not likely to cause major problems, but that he recommended fixing. There was NO high pressure up-sell tactic. He showed me what he was talking about and explained what might happen - and how fixing the one duct would save some money because cool air was currently diverted into the unoccupied attic. I asked for a quote on the work...I found it reasonable (and It included an Angie's discount) and asked them to schedule it. Today, Chuck H came and completed the repairs professionally and worked extremely efficiently. He arrived on time, introduced himself, and had all tools and supplies he needed. He made sure my carpets were protected and he vacuumed when he completed the job. I am totally satisfied and will use Guthrie & Sons for my air conditioning/heating service and repairs.

Great, as always with Guthrie & Sons. I've had one furnace and two A/C tune-ups in the past plus they replaced my very old furnace.The technician was on time, knowledgeable, courteous, neat and thorough. I was very pleased with the service I received from Guthrie & Sons this time and all the times in the past! Highly recommended!!!

They were great. It only took them a day. They had it done so fast that I wasn't even home from work. They were very nice and professional. They did a good job. We would recommend them.

I've got an old 1920s house that had a very old (and highly inefficient) floor heater in the hallway that worked but was getting old. I wanted to pull that out and replace it with a more efficient system and add air conditioning. They came out, gave a bid and although expensive, was one of the better deals on the market at the time. The benefit was due to the recession, we also got an additional 10-year warranty from Trane for free. Plus, there was the Federal tax credit for the high efficiency heat system. The Guthrie guys came out, and added the new gas furnace under the house and had to dig dirt from under the house to get enough clearance to place the furnace (a lot of work in a cramped crawl space). They also ran duct work to all the rooms and cut the flooring to add vents. They also added the heat pump-A/C system outside. The system worked great until the following year when there was a compressor problem which they promptly came out and fixed for free (it was under warranty). A few minor issues here and there have come up and Guthrie has done a wonderful job working on my behalf with Trane to get things fixed -- even going as far as trying to get the whole heat pump-A/C replaced by Trane under warranty coverage. I've also had them come out to do ongoing preventative maintenance, and they've done a wonderful job are friendly and respectful of our time and house (and super friendly to my dog). I had them come back a few years after installation to add a Nest thermostat (would have tried to do it myself, but with the dual-fuel hybrid heat, Nest recommended professional installation to prevent damage to the Trane system's computers). You may be able to find someone cheaper, but I've found them to be good and honest in their dealings. I recommend them.

The service and techs were awesome!. They showed up early and got both my jobs done fast. Like I said above, just a little expensive and the bill was on the high end of the intial estimate. I will use them again if the price is right...

Zach was pleasant and professional. He did not cut corners or seem in a hurry. He went above and beyond! After using several services through our home warranty company, we highly recommend Guthrie & Sons for all your heating and cooling needs!!

Excellent service. The Technician was very professional and knowledgeable.

Mr. Guthrie arrived on time and did a thorough tune up on our AC, including adding refrigerant. Mr. Guthrie also vacuumed and cleaned out the filter of the outdoor unit. He made recommendations for a larger unit because of an addition to our home and left us with additional options for future maintenance services. Mr. Guthrie was pleasant and professional. We will use his services in the future and would recommend him to our friends.

The Guthrie technician come withing the time frame initially given even though I had a call from a very pleasant young lady saying they were having scheduling problems. He was courteous and went about his business as though he knew what he was doing, which I am sure he did. He put on booties to come in the house so as not to track dirt inside. The air conditioner checked out ok and did not need any servicing so there was no additional charge. And he did not try to sell my some high priced cleaner to clean the furnace filters as others have done.

Two technicians showed up, one checked the roof unit the other checked the cooling in the apt. Both were on time and did a good job

They came out on time, very professional, wore shoe booties when ever he came in the house. Inspected the AC and heater and replaced the filer. No additional charges. I have a very old central AC, I now know it is 29 years old and using was too much electricity, which is why it keeps tripping the fuses. I asked for a bid for a new unit, and he called the company and Joe came out same day, inspected the home and explained what a new unit would entail, and will be e-mailing be over my bids by tomorrow, I would recommend the tune up and this company.

I called Guthrie & Sons yesterday, April 21st and made an appointment for them to come out to my home and give me a estimate for a new A/C unit. The woman who answered the phone was very nice and set me up for today, April 22nd and said my window was from 12:30-2:30 and that somebody would call me 20-30 minutes prior to arrival at my home. No call, no show! I did miss an 11:20 am call, no message, while at an appointment from an (858) number and called it back twice. The voicemail was generic, so I didn't leave a message with my name and number because I didn't know who it was that I was calling. Also, the woman who took my call yesterday and set-up the appointment said I would get a confirmation email. No email either! I checked my Junk folder too! Assuming a new A/C is a pretty expensive job, right??? I guess they don't need the work but definitely need to work on communication and customer service big time! Obviously, not using them and was luckily able to call someone else to come out later this week.

Zach was one of the best service professionals I've ever dealt with. He was punctual, thorough, solved the problem, explained everything clearly, charged a fair price, even drove to Home Depot to get a part at no extra charge.
