The work done by the technician was excellent. In inspecting and cleaning the furnace and vent system he did a couple of things that went beyond what was expected. But the following morning the thermostat (which as old) would not start the furnace, and when I called the technician he told me that the manager said the standard charge for thermostat replacement was $180. I declined, went to Home Depot, bought a very good thermostat for $50 and installed it myself in 10 minutes. It may be that the thermostat was ready to fail, but to ask a very high charge to replace something that was working before he initially arrived I felt was unfair.

I was provided with a complete report on the deficiencies in my house regarding energy problems. I will have some work done by this company when the holidays are over.
Description of Work: This was a very thorough evaluation. The vents were taped off and air was introduced in order to test for leaks and also for blockages. The doors and windows were checked for drafts coming in from outside. I was surprised to find out that all my recessed lights were letting in a major amount of cold air. The outlets were also tested for drafts.

Jason called to tell me that he was able to come earlier than his expected appointment time. He was very nice. He wore shoe booties (without my asking him to) which I appreciated very much because we don't wear outdoor shoes in our house. When he opened the laundry room door to the garage to get his ladder, he asked if there was any danger of his letting any pets out of the house! I was extremely careful about that until my cat died this year, so I appreciated that more than I can describe. Jason also put a drop cloth down under the attic entry-way and then wiped off any dirt that had landed on my washing machine and dryer from the attic. (I had no clean-up after he left!) He also took the time to explain all the issues he found related to the furnace and also informed me of the importance (and urgency) of each. He gave me a rough idea of how much a couple of repairs would cost and deferred to his company's owner on a couple of others. I took notes, but I would have felt better if he had given me a written evaluation. I also think I should have asked him to take pictures (with my camera) of the things we talked about so I could later show my husband when I tried to explain all this. It would be good to have before and after photos. I'm planning on calling this company soon to do the work Jason recommended.
Description of Work: Jason inspected our furnace in the attic and let me know of a couple things that were not right like the exhaust vent was not elevated gradually (?) as it should have been. He also looked at the intake air filter on the main floor.

I call GGR to check on my old gas heater after being gone form the house for 30 yrs. Previous tenants and management had not maintained the heater and it was filthy. Jason came and did a thorough safety check, checked for carbon monoxide, checked for leaks, and cleaned out all the dust and filter. Thankfully the heater is still working well. I am quite reassured that it is safe to use the heater. Thanks GGR!

The $49 Angie's list job was thoroughly and expeditiously done. Paid an extra 150.00 for recommended change to tubing which channels the heat from the heater. Also said work needed to be done in the attic to keep the heat from escaping (for $1500.00). I said think you, no. Enough.

As you can see, we were very impressed with Jason. He represented CCR EXTREMELY WELL! He answered all questions and explained about the thermostat and changed the heater filter (using a new one we had available). GGR Energy should be very proud of this employee.
Description of Work: Jason ( GGR technician) thoroughly checked heater and found the gasket missing. Condensation was collecting in vent pipe (which was incorrectly installed), Jason was very good about keeping us informed about what he was doing and finding. He told us he had to order another gasket and told us what he had to do to make the vent pipe system correct. He said it would take about 7-10 days to receive the part and would check back with us. Which he did.

The service provider came to inspect and tune up my furnace. They said that I needed a new furnace and disconnected the thermostat from it without telling me. I called someone else to look at the furnace and they could not even tell a tuneup had been performed. The first service provider did not even leave a checklist of work performed. They said that they would get back with me with an estimate for a new furnace installation and have not yet heard anything back. UPDATE: I've previously wrote a review and am revisiting it due to the owner getting back in touch with me. Now I understand they are in the process of moving and that is why they were not timely getting back to me after the initial visit. I'm not a fan of so-so excuses so not much has changed about this company in my eyes. The fact is that nobody got back to me until I wrote the first review and that was five days after the visit by the technician. The owner did offer a 10% discount on a Goodman 1 or 2 stage furnace or a Lennox 1 stage furnace (no multi-stage as they are not a Lennox dealer).

Hi [removed member name], We are a little perplexed by your review. Our tech came out and identified there was a need for furnace replacement and discussed potential equipment options for you. One of the options required us to get pricing our wholesale dealer, for which we wanted to ensure we got you the best price. We are ready to present the options to you but we received this review first. We would love the opportunity to show you how well out team can do for you. The scope of items we perform is on the big deal paperwork from Angie's list and we don't typically generate a work order as not to be redundant. But we were not aware you would like to have received paperwork, and would be happy to email some over. We work hard to make sure our customers are happy and hope you give us that chance. Thanks, GGR

The Big Deal tune up when well. My husband had done some work in the attic not to long ago so when Jason suggested the replacement of the ducting he agreeed right away . We opted for the UV filter box to help with allergies also. Jason before left after the tune up hemapped out the supplies he would need for the job Friday. We were emailed a Proposal Summary to sign and return before the work on Friday. Thur Jason called UV supplier was out of the parts needed and wanted to pospone job Later he called and said that he found the parts ( We were out Trick or Treating with our grand Kids) so we did not get the message untill the crew showed up on Fri at 8:00. They went to work removing the old ducts and installing new ones. Jason called later and said he was comming about 2:00 Pm with the filter box. The crew finished about 1:00 pm and did not leave the attic tidy of trash and old ducting. It was after 3:00 before Jason arrived. We needed to leave by 6:00, Jason was not able to finish Fri but would return Monday to complete the job. Over the weekend Christian sent an apology email with an offer to do a free spring tine Air tune up. Monday Jason was right on time and with Alex they completed the job. Jason was very thruow and tuned the vent in everyroom to make sure the air flow was just right for every room's size. There was a few hichups in the project but Jason worked hard to make them right. We are happy with the heater.
Description of Work: A big deal heater tune up. Jason suggested the removal and replaced of our old ducting in the attic and installation of a APCO UV Filter Box to control allergens

Tech came to my home to clean the furnace. He opened the furnace and started disconnecting things saying the previous installer didn't connect things correctly. He asked me to turn the furnace on and there was no signal (I have a wireless thermostat). He asked for the documentation for the furnace. I gave it to him. It took him a long time to figure out how to connect the furnace to the wireless. He initially said it had to do with the wireless in my home and I told him I didn't have wireless when the furnace was installed. I finally asked him if he could call someone to figure it out ( I was losing my patience with him because I didn't think he knew what he was doing) and he said no he thinks he has it figured out. He finally did it after reading the manual that came with the thermostat. When he was leaving he did offer to show me "in case" this should happen again. It hasn't happened in the 2.5 years since it was installed and I told him "no" I would just call someone. He said it the power went out in the house the thermostat would need to be reset. The power has been off since the furnace was installed and it never affected the thermostat. I asked him for documentation to show that he was here and he said he didn't have any, that I would have to call the owner for it. I have never had service of any kind performed in my home without getting a receipt. I would not use them again -

Two days after I purchased the Big Deal from GGR Energy, Christian left me a voicemail to call back for scheduling. He spoke so quickly and unclearly that I listened three times to the message and still got the number wrong. I found the correct number online, and called for scheduling today for 2pm. This morning about 9am I called GGR's Poway office to reschedule the time and was told by the female receptionist that she would check with the "powers that be" and call me back. As of 11:30am she still had not called back, so I called her again as I had to leave. She apologized for not calling me back but she "just hadn't gotten around to it." I decided then that I did not want this company to do any work for me, so I told her to just cancel the appointment without rescheduling.

[Member name removed], We apologize for your experience, as that was not typical. We reached out to you immediately after we received notice of your purchase and responded to schedule. If the message was unclear, it was not intentional. On the day of your appointment we had an unforeseen emergency with our technician and we were attempting to get you rescheduled but we not able to do so before you called. If you were willing to give us another chance, I believe you will find our team to be extremely courteous, skilled and proficient, as the balance of our reviews indicate. Darren Miller clearly read the reports and reviewed the premises. Since he is an energy auditor himself, he is clearly knowledgeable about what to look for and what improvements to suggest. He was very patient in answering our questions. Since GGR Energy is a licensed general contractor, their proposed solutions to energy issues in the home are broad-based. When there was a doubt about a technical solution having to do with relocating the furnace, Darren arranged to have a principal from the HVAC subcontractor they use come to look at the house and give a professional opinion about the relocation before GGR Energy prepared their proposal. The proposal was thorough and Darren insisted on sitting down with both of us to go over the details and provide information about the proposed products. We found Darren as a representative for GGR Energy to be highly professional. If you are considering energy upgrades for your home, we suggest contacting GGR Energy.

The home assessment went well. Took them about a week to get back to me with results. They are way too over priced for my wallet. GGR wanted to charge 1,800 plus for attic insulation. I can get my whole house including walls insulated at that price. I requested pricing for a tankless water heater and he quoted us almost $5,000 when I saw the same exact brand of tankless water heater at Costco and they quoted us $2,300 installed with permits. Big price difference. I suggest doing a little shopping around before actually going with these guys.

Thank you for the review. Our firm is committed to excellence and with that we provided top quality installations. The price differences you noted are not apples to apples. As energy professionals we spend everyday in attics and at homes where typical insulating contractors have done subpar installations. You can always find someone cheaper to complete the work, but to know it is done right is part of our guarantee. We test the home in and we test the home out. This may add to our cost, but it ensure we are providing the most energy efficient service and installation. Though we cannot vouch for the quote from costco, with our quote we provide for the proper upsizing of the gas line and a unit specific water filter. Due to the hardwater in san diego, most manufacturers will not warranty the heat exchanger without a filter. We want our customers installs to last and stay within warranty, so we make sure all the options that are needed come standard. We thank you for your feedback and wish you success in your remodeling projects.

GGR gave me three 3 estimates, and the other 2 companies were less than average, and gave me the "hard sell" This was not the case with GGR Energy. From start to finish they did a friendly, wonderfully professional job. Darren gave me 3 different itemized estimates listing my options, g answered all my questions and explained even more than I knew to ask. He returned; I signed the contract with a 10% initial payment, and the company even took care of the energy savings rebate check from SDG&E and applied it against my total bill before the work was done. Due to my schedule it was scheduled for 3 weeks later. The remaining balance was divided into 2 payments; half the balance paid when the work commenced, and final half due at completion. Alex was very professional, polite, friendly and had a great sense of humor. He put tarps down and took great care not to make a mess. When the work was finished he cleaned up after himself, and even helped move the furniture back. The entire installation took 2 days. I would give them a 12 on a scale of 1-10. A great company to work with. GGR Energy has my highest recommendation without reservation. I encourage you to contact them!
Description of Work: An energy audit, with 3 different options (Insulation, more options with insulation, and new windows). I chose option 1, which included whole house air sealing, insulate attic to R38 with blown cellulose, insulate attic kneewalls to R13 with Eco-Batts--secured with tyveck, seal existing ducts to 10% leakage, vent bath fans to outside and build dam around fan to prevent contact with the insulation, install weather strip gaskets around exterior doors. Our upstairs bedrooms were almost 10 degrees hotter than downstairs! This did the trick!

I had a very good service with GGR and I have already agreed to do a follow up survey after the reno is completed. Darren walked around with me and expertly answered all of my questions (and I asked a lot). I would have given them straight A's but the quality was directly impacted by the stage of the demolition. Darren tried to overcome the construction issues and I asked if he would get out the infrared camera and use it any way. I don't have the report yet. The price was fair especially with the Angie's list discount.
Description of Work: When Darren showed up I believe that he was unaware that I had already started demolition. I was unaware that my demolition would skew the results. We spoke about the conditions and he agreed to perform the energy analysis anyway.

Prompt and professional, however the estimator and the installer were not on the same page technically. The original location would require additional costly and time and less practical. The installer provided clear options and the job continued. However the installer was not prepared to complete the job in the time frame and had to return. He had little familiarity with the network connection, of which I was able to help. He was also not up to date on system upgrades regarding the wireless control. Overall, I am very satisfied with the purchase

We decided to get additional bids for the items identified by GGR Energy, so can't comment on their proposed cost. We likely will hire GGR Energy for the sealing, insulation and duct replacement, but may choose a different replacement window than they proposed.

Everything went very well. I didn't really know what to expect, but the company's representative, Darren, was both polite and thorough. He went through our house, top to bottom - checking for leaks not only in our windows and doors, but in the ductwork and attic. I am curious, so he was kind enough to explain all the different devices to measure air pressure. movement, etc. At one point, we found a leak so big that it slammed my doors shut! After the inspection, we set up another meeting to look over all the final results. It was a short meeting, but I was given a full folder with 6 pages describing all the finds. It was an amazing deal for the price!! There was DEFINITELY no hard sell. He gave me a list of fixes and costs from the company, but I never felt like they were pushing anything on me. I have not gone through with more repairs, but I would definitely use this company. Their prices were competitive and if their professionalism in the inspection says anything, they would be a fantastic company to work with.

Nice presentation, but the recommended work was not required, just advisory in order to maximize our energy use. We had already done quite a bit over the years and it would have taken us approx. 10-12 years to recoup the cost of the recommended work. Most of the work had to do with use of air conditioning and heating, which we use very infrequently.
