GGR Energy are quick and professional. They didn't try to sell me a bunch of extra services. I plan on using more of their services in the future.
Description of Work: I purchased an Angie's Big Deal to get an energy evaluation of my home. I only paid the initial price of the Big Deal. There were no extra charges. They came to do the job probably within two weeks after I purchased the Big Deal.

The technician was punctual, polite, and knowledgeable about energy efficiency. He taped all the duct registers in the house and hooked up a pressurizing blower to one of the return air grills. We went into the attic and found two ducts that were leaking conditioned air into the attic. He suggested getting mastic from the local building supply store so I could seal the leaks (which I did later in the day quite easily). He then did a door blower test. This involved putting a temporary "door" in the front door opening and running another blower test to pressurize the house. He then checked his instruments and evaluated how tight the house was. All in all, a very satisfying experience that was reassuring as to the performance of the house regarding air infiltration, and helpful in finding the air leaks in the attic.

I noticed that GGR Energy is the Big Deal today. We payed $99.00 for the same energy audit a month ago, and were totally pleased with the results. We received very helpful information. We will definitely contact them for work that incorporates their energy recommendations with other remodeling changes that we are planning. This company is very professional and thorough. I highly recommend them.

From initial energy survey throughout the work being completed all employees were professional and courteous. Total Job took 2.5 days and a few hours on another day to install a remote switch. The only access to the attic was in the Master bedroom they put down traps and cover thing with plastic and vacuumed at the end of every day. The old fiberglass insulation had to be taken out through the house and the fine participles still got everywhere it took a whole day after the work was completed to feel like we got rid of all the dust and participles. This is not against the contractor just a warning to others when removing old fiberglass insulation it will get everywhere. Prior to the work being completed we had a 37 percent lost of air flow in the duct system and the house tested on the drafty side at 1750 . the retest after work completed duct system registered at a 8 percent air lost and the house was now in the normal range for airflow of 1070. The whole house fan is very quiet on the low setting and just a little louder on high mostly affecting the hallway area. The company did all the paperwork for a rebate from SDG&E added plus. The rebate was not a major factor in getting the work done. (rebate was estimated at $1000.00) I would recommend this company to anyone. The only advice is to be sure of what work is covered in the initial estimate.
Description of Work: Attic is about 1200 sqft. Removed old attic insulation and ducts. Installed new heating ducts, air sealed the attic, blew in cellulose insulation, and Installed a whole house fan.

My initial energy assessment was completed by incorrectly by another company. GRR fixed the errors. GRR had to resubmit the bid a couple of times due to issues (not GRR issues) and do so without complaint. Part of the bid included an CA energy rebate. The actual rebate was $250 less than GGR quoted. GGR honored the difference GGR could have been neater around one window (nicked) but the other 5 were fine.

Intial Assessment took about two hours, Air ducting was checked for leakage, Attic was inspected for insulation. house was tested for overall air lost. All applancies were checked and a gas leak was deteched at the stove, It was recommended to call gas company (SDG&E) to have it check. SDG&E did verfiy a bad shut off value to the stove, this could of become a serious situation if had gone undetected much longer. Final assessment report will be deliverd in a week with the recommended improvement and energy savings. So more to follow. Was very professional listen to our concerns and what we hope to improve in the air quality and movement in the house.

After the work was completed, we could feel the difference. The house is not drafty anymore. The inside temperature only drops about two degrees overnight instead of the six to eight degrees it used to drop before the work. Darren come back after the work was complete to verify the work was completed correctly and to run another air leakage test. Our air leakage had been cut in half. This is a very good result. You would think this leakage should be zero but that is unattainable as we have three fireplaces which are virtually impossible to seal, and there needs to be some air exchange to keep the air healthy and keep mold issues from occurring. Because there is a rebate from SDG&E involved with the payment for these services, SDG&E sent out an independent company to verify the work GGR did was done correctly and qualifies for the rebate. John from RHA came out and independently verified the work done and conducted another air leakage test. Everything checked out. Can't wait till next winter to see how much warmer our house stays. Darren has emailed me letting me know they will be checking in with us next winter to make sure we are still happy with the results. That's the same great customer service we had througout our whole experience with GGR.
Description of Work: We have a large 4300 square foot home with open beam ceilings and about seventy can lights. We just couldn't seem to keep the house warm in the winters. We would light a fire in the fireplace in one end of the house and we could feel cold air hitting the backs of our necks coming from the rest of the house. We called GGR and Darren came out and did a thorough energy audit. It took nearly four hours. He tested our ducts, checked for CO2 from the appliances, then ran a negative air pressure test where he installed an outward blowing fan into an open exterior doorway which is otherwise sealed off with a canvas frame. With the fan on, he could measure the amount of air leaking into the house in cubic feet per minute, an actual baseline number. We then walked through the house and could feel where the air was leaking into the house. In our case it was through the can lights, door weatherstripping, and where the beams in our ceiling had warped or shrunk and pulled away from the drywall. Turns out we effectively had a ceiling more like pegboard than drywall. Darren also inspected our attic and found much of the insulation had been moved by previous contractors and not properly replaced. GGR presented us a plan to box in and seal the can lights, replace weatherstripping, seal around the beams in the ceiling and trim them out with moulding, then fix the existing insulation and blow in another layer to bring our R value to R-38. We agreed to the work. Alex and Lois spent five long days doing all the work. They were fantastic! They were punctual, professional, and responsive to any issue I raised. They explained what they would be doing at the beginning of each day and if I wanted something done differently because of how it would look, they did it my way. I can't say enough about these guys. When I asked them to seal around the heater vents in the ceiling, which wasn't in the original scope of work, they just did it. Fantastic!

As far as construction goes, they did very well with being there when they said they would and cleaning up after themselves. Their quality of work was wonderful. The only issue we had was with all the paperwork needed to get the solar system up and running with SDGE. The process was a little disorganized and took a long time to finalize. But after several tries we got it all worked out and everything is working just fine now.
Description of Work: GGR came and did an energy audit of our home as well as gave us a quote to add solar panels. We hired them to insulate our home more as well as to do other upgrades to help conserve energy and make our home more efficient. We also hired them to install our solar panels.

We could not have been happier with GGR. Dave performed the initial audit. He was completely professional and thorough. He explained everything he was doing clearly and completely. We felt extremely comfortable with his assessment. Afterward when we meet to discuss his quote he did not hard sell, but simply showed their recommendations. We chose to limit the work to the most critical needs and he was quick to get us scheduled for the work. When they began the work, Alex led the day to day operations. Both he and his co-worker were amazingly thorough and professional working hard to get the job done. They were extremely hard working, and honest (alway explaining what was to come). Alex was as friendly and personal as he was professional. We enjoyed sharing our home with the while they were here. Since the work was completed our heater has not even come on. The house is comfortable day and night and we could not be more pleased with the work they did. You hear stories about contractor nightmares. We can say that GGR is an outstanding organization that we highly recommend.
Description of Work: We recently purchased our home and noticed that is was cold and the heater ran constantly to keep it warm. We knew that we needed to get the energy profile of the house updated. GGR performed an energy audit and discovered significant issues with our ducts. 40% of our forced air was never making it out of the attic. They also identified air leaks with can lights and very thin insulation. With the exception of the size of the forced air leak this was in line with my own assessment, which made me comfortable with what they told me. We engaged GGR to come and air seal the attic, seal the ducts where they were only tabbed in and add additional insulation to bring us in line with what was recommended. In doing the work, they discovered a sealed off section of the attic that needed to be opened up in order to allow air to circulate and dealt with that as well.

We called a couple of companies to come evaluate our electrical needs. One company was very unprofessional. GGR was extremely professional from the initial call to completion and follow up to the written report. They came when they said they would. They were dressed professionally. Christian made the initial contact and then left his partner to complete the analysis. We have a solar system and he was knowledgeable about that as well. The written report was emailed to us at our request and we discussed the areas of need. We have not yet scheduled the work to be done but will be calling GGR to do the projects in 2013.
Description of Work: The gentlemen were very professional, prompt and provided a written review for us to evaluate our future projects to address energy usage. They did a thorough evaluation of all electrical uses both active and passive. The passive ones were new information for us. We will use them for the work when we have prioritized the projects.

Great, I would use them again. We were introduced to Christian through remodel works to handle bumping the exterior of our house and removing a large load bearing wall. They came in on budget, though we did change a bunch of stuff along the way, we should have probably planned a bit better. The start of the project was delayed a bit because of permitting, but Christian managed my expectations well. Once we it made sense to have them reside the house, as part of the project. They did a great job. Overall, I can't recommend ggr enough.
Description of Work: We recently bumped the back off our house out to put in a new kitchen. GGR handled moving a load bearing interior wall, removing the exterior wall, and installing a la cantina folding door. Furthermore we had them reside, reinsulate and paint the house.

I was trying to take advantage of the Energy Upgrade California rebate money and so I asked GGREnergy to come in and do an energy remodel for us. A few other companies quoted the work as well but I went with GGR b/c 1) Price - although not the cheapest, it was fair 2) I simply liked them better. They developed a relationship with me pretty quickly and it was clear that Christian was very passionate about his work They left the premises very clean after every day of work (3 days total). We ran into some snags along they way and they explained the situation very well, and handled it to the best of my interest (not their interest). The above work that was performed seemed to hit the sweet spot for me regarding money i need to spend up front, rebate money I would get back, and what's actually useful for my household. For instance in our particular situation adding a tankless/hybrid water heater didn't help me out that greatly in terms of rebate and future savings. There was no pressure to go that route after we crunched through the numbers. In the end I asked GGR to come back and do a few more energy improvements to the house including installation of some low profile and very efficient "envi" wall heaters for some ancillary rooms.
Description of Work: - whole house energy audit (before and after) - 20 year old gas furnace replaced with a 95% efficient furnace - ducting replaced with some higher level R rating ducting. There was a leak somewhere in our current system and we determined that replacing the whole setup with something better was more beneficial than trying to root out the leak(s) - insulation replaced with blown in - carbon monoxide detectors installed - programmable thermostat installed

I noticed an immediate improvement in comfort throughout the house. My energy bills have been substantially reduced. My July electric bill (using air-conditioning) was half of my bill for last July. I received a $1,500 SDG&E Rebate and $500 tax-credit. GGR had estimated a $2,500 SDG&E rebate based on their testing. When SDG&E only approved $1,500, GGR made up the difference. John, Christian, and their staff were prompt, courteous, and a pleasure to work with. I recommend using them.
Description of Work: GGR did an energy audit on my home for an SDG&E energy efficiency program. Based upon the results, I had them re-insulate the house ("air-sealing" to eliminate heat/cooling loss) and install a "Radiant Barrier", seal the HVAC ducting, replace incandescent lighting fixtures with air-tight florescent fixtures, and replace the water heater.

The job went excellent. Christian at Get-Green came over and did the assessment. He listened to our concerns. He gave us good recommendations. He didn't try to use high pressure sales tactics on us but rather tried to provide the best product he could for us while keeping overall costs as small as possible. In addition to minimizing costs he looked for the projects that would allow us the biggest rebate. As it turned out, we were able to capitalize on a rebate that was just ending and one that was just starting allowing for the rebate that made our out of pocket 50% less than the full price. Christian walked through the project with us. He and his partner, Greg, were always prompt, clean and worked the advertised hours. The project ended up taking about 6 hours longer than expected but the job from start to finish was very professional and well within our expected time line. Once the project was 80% complete, we started to see instant results. The heater normally cycled about 3 x per hour. Since that 80% mark, the heater now only cycles about 3-4 x per day. We haven't seen the first energy bill since the remodel, but I anticipate that it will be much cheaper. The advertised savings is 15-20%; I anticipate that we will see much more.
Description of Work: We looked into a green remodel. As part of the green remodel we started with a home energy audit. After the audit was received, we decided on sealing and insulating the attic space, weatherstripping the doors and windows and installing a mechanical fan to permanently run in the bathroom. After such great success with this project we have already signed a contract to install exterior doors and are thinking about having a "cool roof" application to make another space in the house more comfortable.
