Ed was recommended to me by another company that I had hired to do some work in my kitchen. He was able to give me the tile design I wanted, even working into the design a decorative piece of tile I had purchased many years ago. I was responsible for obtaining and paying for the tile (approximately $40 - not included in the $625 installation charge). I especially was impressed with his dependability. He came to give me his estimate and to do the work exactly when he said he would. Believe it or not, he always answered his phone when I needed to call him - never had to leave a message. The project took about 7 hours spread over two days. Upon completion the backsplash looked exactly as I had envisioned it. Because he had been recommended to me, I did not get other estimates. I have a feeling I could have gotten the job done for less, but I doubt amyone could have done a better job. The tiles that neeeded to be cut were done beautifully and the grout lines were straight and even. I would definitely hire Ed again and recommend him to others.
Description of Work: Ed and his assistant removed an old kitchen ceramic backsplash behind my cooktop and replaced it with new ceramic tile. The area was approximately 82" x 14" - a simple solid color grid pattern with some small diamond shaped accent tiles and one special decorative tile.

Overall, my wife and I couldn't have been more pleased. We moved our vehicles out of the garage and allowed Ed to set up his saw inside. He placed tarps on the floor and drop cloths from the garage to the bathroom. Ed worked very hard and wasn't afraid to take his time and do it right. I felt Ed took great pride in what he did and we appreciated his efforts. Ed also suggested building a recessed box in the shower for shampoo, he also suggested adding a glass shelf, it has been one of our favorite features. During the construction phase, I had a plumber come out to install a new shower waste water line since the previous one had been leaking below the slab. Ed came out and spoke directly with the plumber regarding the elevation he would need the drain at for proper drainage. Ed also came out when I had the shower pan hot mopped with tar to prevent leaks. This is the second bathroom I have hired Ed for. The first one was approximately 20 months ago before I started Angie's list. If I had another bathroom to remodel, or other tile work I would hire him again.
Description of Work: Demo bathroom walls and floor, applied mortar bed on walls to make them plumb and the corners square. Also built up the shower dam and floor using a dry pack mortar bed. Tiled walls and floor of shower, and floor of bathroom. Built in a recessed shelf box in shower with glass shelf
