Ecola Services Inc Termite & Pest Management

I had argentine black ants. I worked with Ben Taylor. He said if I have a question to give him a call. I did call a few times with questions and he was very courteous and nice. They did a great job. I felt they are honest as I had concerns that were addressed by other termite companies. Ben was able to ease my concerns and said the information I received from the previous companies was not all true. I cannot speak highly enough about the high integrity of this company. I would use them again and recommend their service. I actually have cards that I hand out to others for referrals when asked.

I've had a contract with ECOLA for ten years or so. They come and inspect every year, or during the year if there's an issue, and if they find anything, they treat it. The inspectors and technicians are very professional and friendly. They wear "booties" in the house to protect the floor. Most important, when they treat termites they don't come back. Worth a call!

The tenting went well, the co. showed up on time and was finished quickly. That was on Monday and on Wednesday by ten Am. all cleaned up.

Communication was poor. I told the contact person I know I have rodents but I need a termite check too. She asked if I was selling the house and needed a certificated inspector. I said no. They set up a Sat. appt. and gave me a 3 hour window. I called after they were a half hour past the window. They contacted the estimator and said they are running late. They called back again and asked if 3:30 would be okay? I had been waiting since 11 am. I was trying to decide if I was going to put my old dog down that day. I had a Quality of Life appt. at 4. I said No. She was apologetic and empathetic. Then we tried to rescheduled. I sat around again. I checked my messages and she said the tech was outside but I wasn't home he waited 20 minutes. I said did he ring the door bell she said no he didn't want to come in the gate b/c of my beware of dog sign (which is mandatory to post whether your dog is aggressive or not). I was home up stairs waiting for someone to knock/ ring the door bell. She asked if he could come back at 3 something again. Again I had the sad job of taking my dog in b/c his health had declined so much. She was very nice and said We rescheduled for Thursday. at 7 am. So I could be the first appt. I appreciated that. Then, 7:30 happened and Dennis came to the door apologized and I said do you want to go in the attic to give me your estimate for the termites bc its already getting hot. He said, I am not the termite guy. I am the other pests. I am not qualified to do termites. He call the office she tried to explain and reschedule with they other guy. I said no thank-you, I have had enough. I just put my dog down. They did have a supervisor leave a message to try to rectify but was worried that communication would continue into the treatment of the rodents and termites.

They got rid of the ants. We just thought we'd give them a try because we haven't had any pest control before.

The technician was prompt, courteous, and very knowledgeable. He agreed that the ant infestation was very bad, and one treatment might not be sufficient. He did have to come back in about 2 weeks to redo the master bathroom, where the ants continued to come out of the wall behind the temperature regulator, but I am now ant free. He and I were also amazed that the outside showed no further ant trails or nests. I would highly recommend this company.

Never got a call back. Not going to pursue with this vendor. Second termite bust I got on Angie's list.

It was good. They can do non-tenting, they can do other alternatives besides tenting.

Excellent, very professional and responsable

I already knew I had a termite problem after spotting termite droppings in my garage. Ecola was the first company doing an inspection. Since I intend to have localized treatment done and not tenting, it is imperative that the inspector find all the areas that have active termite colonies. Ecola's inspection was not thorough enough, as two other companies subsequently found termites in areas that Ecola did not find them.

Unfortunately, in San Diego most houses probably have termites and it is an ongoing battle keep them at bay. We are glad this alternative to tenting the house was available and would recommend this company to anyone. While the price is about the same as tenting you don't have the inconvenience of moving out of your house for a few days. Sales rep was very helpful and able to answer all our questions, understood our requirement for quality and made sure to send only an experience work crew. Work crew arrived on time and did their work in a professional manner. Great care was made to be organized and not damage anything inside the house. The heat treatment took most of the day. Company provided the same guarantee (two years) as the other outfits that would have tented the house. After the two years is up will likely purchase the extended service which has them come back every year to inspect and spot treat for termites. Unless you have a massive infestation this is probably the way to go to rid the house of termites.

I did the things he asked for. We scheduled another appointment and he claimed nobody was home which was not true. I was home and in fact I called the office and I asked where the guy is and that I've been waiting for him. He said he rang the bell and nobody was there so he left. I think that sort of got him mad. The second time he came back, he couldn't find parking so he started off with an attitude. They didn't do any services. He said he was coming back the second time to give me an estimate. He came back with a horrendous attitude and basically told me that I didn't do anything he asked. I said I did. He was as nasty as he could be and he backed out on everything he said he could do for me the first time. When I called the office to tell them about this and to explain to them why I was not going to use them, I tried 3 times to get a hold of the office manager and all I got was "We'll call you back." I never got a callback which drives me crazier than anything else. I really wanted to use these people because they were going to do exactly what I wanted but after this, I would never use them. I think Angie's List members should know about this. His attitude was bad enough but then to call the office 3 times and to be told every time that the office manager would call me back and I haven't gotten a callback in over a week now, I think that's unacceptable. I can wait a few days because I understand people are busy but not 10 days. Dennis is the office manager.

My experience went very well. The staff was very professional and highly knowledgeable in their field. They were also very easy to work with and able to answer all my questions directly. I was pleased with the outcome of the service and the information they gave of regarding the fumigation. I would highly recommend this company to others.

As I stated I have had a service contract with them for which I have paid $250 a year for 6-7 years. About 7 years ago they found termites in several locations and provided service to eliminate them. I was offered an annual service contract for $250 to come out and inspect once a year and treat termite infestation. In addition I could call if I noticed activity through the year. The first year they had to do an additional treatment but for the last 5-6 years all they did was come out once for a 30 minute inspection finding nothing. This year the person came out and told me that we had a " massive" infestation on a deck in the back yard. He said that he did not think that it was covered. I said excuse me? He said he would check when he got back to the office and let me know. Well he never let me know. In fact I made a total of 6 calls over the next month trying to get an answer. I was promised a call back each time and never received one. Finally I made a call wanting to talk to the manager or owner or I wanted a refund of the $250 for this year. This time they said they would send someone. So on Oct 17th he arrived. He went to the deck and tried to do a treatment. He told my wife that he did not know what to do. He said he sprayed the surface but the termite infestation was also in the foundation under the deck where he could not treat. He called his office and got into an argument with them on whether he should even be here at all. He did what he could and left after about 1/2 an hour. I still have termites in the deck. The deck is old and I have decided to tear it out so I did not call Ecola again. The inference they made is that the $250 only covers areas that have been treated previously. I find that a useless so called guarantee in that these creatures can move easily on their own. So actually I have paid over $1,500 for an annual inspection that I could get free from a number of other companies. I have also never heard of paying for termite service that can only kill the termites on the surface and have no ability to kill the ones underneath. That is a totally useless service. This company. in my opinion has ripped me off for 5-6 years while doing nothing.

We were very impressed how long he spent with the inspection which resulted in finding several spots on the outside of the house that needs. We had used them two years ago for treating a severe case of termites in our attic. We didn't want to tent the house so opted for the heat treatment. They said it was possible and came out with their equipment. The treatment lasted all day. They were very careful about the clean up and putting down tarps to protect our window and bed where the giant heater-vent hose came through from their truck and up into the attic. This heat treatment cost $2000 which was cheaper than tenting, as well as no added cost of spending the night at a hotel. It must have worked because two years later the inspector on Sept. 12 of this year found no evidence of termite activity in the attic. We were worried because we let two years lapse. This time the cost was $250 which applies to a full year of inspection and spot treatment if we notice any termite evidence. They are sending out a team to take care of the several spots outside the house that need treatment.

The inspector, James was thorough and pointed out everything he found. I thought he was knowledgable and helpful. It was his opinion that we didn't need tenting. Time will tell if we made the right call. But, for the sake of the family, we went without the tent. I was pleased with his work. The two techs who came out for the day were very nice and efficient, very careful with our furniture etc, and very helpful. So, they were all around good. I would recommend them. Here are a few of the reasons why they didn't rate an "Excellent." Under professionalism, the techs showed up without some of the paperwork. So, there were two different contracts, one for the heat and one for the spot treatment. They only had the former. At the close of the job, they left the screen out of the upstairs bedroom window they used for access for the ducting. They had a "Visa" display but, when it came time to pay, the main office was closed and they couldn't get approval. No big deal, I paid by check. They were less attentive to our pets than I would like. They helped out with information so that I got the cat crated in a part of the house that would stay habitable. However, the dogs got out twice. I had the dogs out of the house for several hours. When I came back with them, I asked Javier to let me know when he had to move to the side of the house where the dogs were penned, so I could get them in the house. He said "Ok," but forgot and just opened the gate and they ran off down the street. Had I not been home, the outcome might have been different, but the dogs were fine. Then, at the end of the job, Wynn left the door open and again one of the dogs got out. Again, I liked the guys and would recommend them. This is just not quite up to the "Excellent" range.

I didn't have work done because the price quote was for a termite infested patio lattice cover. Decided to tear down the cover.

Punctual, professional. Would definitely use again.

We were so impressed that we hired Ecola to take over our monthly property spraying.They have been very reliable and thorough, so much so that we have used them at our other property. The only negative is that sometimes their billing is confused. We are on an automatic payment and it does not always get communicated as such.

The first attempt was ok but we still saw ants. The second attempt killed them all. Great Job!

The Ecola inspector, I believe his name was Mr. Taylor, was on time and extremely knowledgeable and helpful. He said there was no evidence of termites, which was a huge relief, but gave me tips on what to look for and addressed some other issues concerning my house. I also appreciated the fact that he didn't try to pressure me about any of their services. i wuld definitely call Ecola again as a result of this experience.

They were very prompt professional and punctual. We will be using them in the future.

Pricey! I was excited by the reviews here and called them only to find out their one time first visit fee was $195 for a 1300 sq ft home. I was only interested in spraying outdoors (to keep ants away) but that's the price they quoted and it was for indoors as well whether I wanted it or not. Additionally, if you want them to use green products then it's additional charge bringing it well into the $200+ range. Just thought I'd save people a phone call if they were expecting $95 range like the previous reviews were quoting. If you have a coupon or maybe a long term contract then perhaps the price would be more in that range. Back to my usual Happy Pest Control company for me.
