+ 0 moreJeff's an absolute professional, prompt and an expert electrician. His questions regarding when house was built so he could go into his mind palace and for what building codes were in use at the time to determine how the house was wired was interesting. No reference book, just his knowledge and how he explained in layman terms was something to experience. He diagnosed and repaired everything that was not working and now the ladies of the house can use their blow dryers, that is a survival issue for me. :) It is a veteran owned business and I will use him again in the future for projects that we are planning. If you're looking for a professional electrician, Dwelling is your company.

After reading his contract, discovered he was not a fully licensed electrician and his advertised price before the Angie's list discount is in violation of his license. Not very knowledgeable and did not communicate properly regarding needed materials prior to arrival. Even though I asked. I was misled regarding materials and he waisted nearly 3 hours to purchase additional materials. Then refused to provide a receipt for the materials and demanded an additional $75 on the spot. Ultimately gave him money just to leave my house. Took nearly 2 months for him to complete job. I now have to compete the job myself by repositioning, replacing, and completing adjustments to meet the illumination goals I started with.

Description of Work: Installed 2 chandeliers, one with a ceiling medallion. Both lights were replacements, so there was no new wiring done.

+ -1 moreIt went well. Jeff from Dwelling came in and the first day he came in I had bought 4 hours of work off angies list. He actually came in and the problem had stopped so instead he added a wall socket to a bedroom and wired a ceiling fan for the living room. The problem came back and so did Jeff. He found that there was bad wiring in the attic and replaced some lines and all worked well.
Description of Work: I had a wall socket go bad and killed more sockets down the line. All in all it killed 4. After a month of trying to find the problem I looked into hiring someone. I actually had 2 other electricians that came in and couldnt find the problem.

The ability to sound ideas off of Mr. Draper, and his candid but flexible approach to addressing our needs, and the immense pride he took in his work are traits that are rarely found today in any realm of tradesmanship. Mr. Draper is truly one of a kind, as was clearly demonstrated by his professionalism, personability, skill and focus on customer service. I have owned many homes and properties over the years, and have dealt with many contractors and electricians. Dwelling Electric, under the ownership of Mr. Draper, far exceeds the workmanship and customer service of any contractor I have worked with. His company merits the highest endorsement I can give.

+ -1 moreI got an Angie's List coupon for 4 hours of electrical work from Dwelling Electric. I had called him ahead of time to get an estimate of how long it would take him to do various types of electrical work, so I could plan out half-a-day's worth of work for him. He was very friendly and patient with me as we discussed this. Jeffrey Draper (the electrician) put in the new garage outlet just as quickly as his estimate implied, and I thought repairing the upstairs outlet would be equally fast, but when it turned out the outlet wasn't getting any power, then he had to crawl around in the attic and work out what my previous "electrician" had done (and done very badly, as it turned out). Since the previous installation, in addition to disconnecting the one outlet, also left some bare wires in the attic, it was a Good Thing that I got in an ACTUAL electrician to correct things. Doing all this took the bulk of the time he spent on my job. I had originally wanted to run cabling from the attached garage to the living room inside the walls up by the ceiling, which he could have done, but he pointed out that it would have involved drilling through multiple floor joists and repairing the multiple holes in my (textured) ceiling. Not wanting to deal with *that*, I went with having him run the cable along the wall on the outside. He did a very nice job in concealing the cable. To summarize: I definitely plan to use Dwelling Electric for any future electrical work. He was extremely fast, definitely knew what he doing, and was very professional and friendly.
Description of Work: Put new GFC outlet in garage. Re-routed power to upstairs outlet (after previous worker inadvertently disconnected it), putting in new electrical boxes in attic to accomodate. Ran cable & ethernet from garage to livingroom (~30 feet along wall).

When I originally purchased his Angie's list deal, he immediately contacted me and I wasn't ready yet since I had a lot of fixtures to look into and purchase. THEN about everything else health wise happened to family members so this was put on hold by me several times. AS SOON as I called Jeff, we booked this [and you do need to look at a short wait]. He called me a day prior to our scheduled appointment and gave me a 2 hour time frame for arrival and asked if I wanted a 30-minute call which was great. He arrived on time at 7:30 AM ready to work. He walked my husband and I through several issues that we were unaware of with the new fixtures we purchased . . . went to the store to purchase a unique item for us to make sure we got the right thing. He was clean with his workmanship, his appearance, and his clean up. HE WILL ABSOLUTELY be used again by us. AS AN FYI my husband retired from the Electrical contracting business, and HE SAID JEFF WAS GREAT and that means a lot.
Description of Work: Jeff replaced 3 current fan lights with 3 updated different fixtures. He also installed 2 motion/light detectors outdoors which required knowledge and that were hard wired.
