Great! The ladder would not reach the second story so they took two 12x12 planks and placed them across the upstairs bannisters to hang the entry chandelier. It looks great! My husband love the fan in his office, it lets him work comfortably.

We saw this deal on one of the Angie's List emails I received after signing up. We bought the Big Deal since we really needed to have 2 more ceiling fans wired and installed into our upstairs bedrooms. And since we don't have street lamps, we really wanted to wire and install 2 coach lights outside our garage. We had to rearrange our original date, and then so did Jeff. But it worked out and he had an employee Rudy, that was able to come out and get the job done. We thought he might not have enough time to install either fan, but luckily tapped into the wired switch for one room and got one fan & 2 coach lights installed, other bedroom wired in exactly 8 hrs. The deal itself was $399, but paid for materials that they carried with them. All in all, it was a great experience and I would definitely recommend Dwelling Electric. However if it's something that's pressing, his lead time for appts is about 6 wks out. His work was clean and quick.

Big Deal Purchase. First contact on my part was voice message. Jeff called back within 3 hours and we were able to schedule an appointment during my desired time frame right then and there. Electrician showed up at my house at the agreed upon time and we were able to check off everything on my electrical to do list in the amount of time allotted. Work involved a fair amount of drywall removal, but it was done as neatly as possible. I would not hesitate to use them again or recommend them to others.

Awesome!!! Can't say enough. In 2 hours, the 2 guys made it all the way through my electrical to do list, which was far beyond my expectations. Some of the issues required pretty creative thinking. The owner Jeff was great - he worked quickly, was knowledgeable and articulate, had a great problem solving mindset, and quality checked everything. Would recommend without hesitation.

I originally had been scheduled out until November. When I spoke with his secretary, there was a cancellation that day and they were able to fit me in sooner. The work did go over the allotted time for the Big Deal just as I expected. They were very good and about it and charged me appropriately. I worked closely with the owner, Jeff, and his technician. They and the work were both great! I had no issues with them and they cleaned up after themselves. It was a great experience. I am hiring them for additional work in my garage during November.
Description of Work: I had them install exterior outlets as well as repair another exterior outlet. They also installed four other outlets in the garage and did some re-wiring. They also installed an outlet in my bathroom and switched out an AMP for a lower wattage because the wires were not appropriate for that high of wattage. They were very great at catching this because if the AMP was not switched out, it could have caused a fire.

It turned out well. The owner, Jeff, and another technician Rudy came out for the work. They both completed the work and were very professional. I didn’t have the porch light when they came to do the work. It took them less than four hours to do the work so they were able to come back on the next day to install the porch light after I purchased it.

It all when very well, he did the job faster then he had promised. He also is very fair, he only charged us per 15 minute increments even though he had drove about 60 miles to get here. To increase the power for our AC, he had to run higher gauge wiring literally from one end of the house all the way to the other, about the longest run he could make. We also asked him, while he was here if he could mount a flat screen TV in our bedroom and put the electrical jack in the wall for the cables, etc. he also installed another jack in our bathroom as the breaker kept tripping when hair dryers and other electrical items were turned on. since the work, no problems, all done as expected. Also, he did have to cut some holes and fix the drywall, but it was very minimal compared to what I expected.
Description of Work: Fixed several dead outlets, ran higher gauge wiring and increased power to our master bedroom for our AC. Mounted and did electrical for a TV in our bedroom.

I placed my order and received a message to call for an appointment. I called and left a message on an answering machine. I received a call back a day or two later. I asked to have the service on a Monday or Friday because I had to take the day off work. The office manager said she would check her schedule and call me back which I would have thought would have been in the same day. Next day I received a call and was told that I could get an appointment six week out. I said that was too far out so I would take any day. I was set up with an appointment three weeks out on a Thursday. She mentioned that there would be two people spending two hours instead of one person for four hours. I said I was not enthusiastic about having two people working on a light that was out over my garage. Is one person working and one supervising? My time frame for service was 2:00 -6:00 PM, I would have thought that they would arrive at the latest 4:00 and work until 6:00 before it started to get dark. At 4:00 I started to get concerned and called the office only to leave another message. About a half hour later I got a call from the office manager to tell me that they would arrive at 5:15, I mentioned that it was going to be dark before there time was up and she said they had lights. I mentioned I was not pleased so far and she said I could cancel. Well, I waited three weeks to get me garage light fixed so I didn't want to cancel now. I live on a very dark street and I come home from work late and I want the security of having light for me to get from my car to my house. They arrived on time and Jeff seemed friendly. When I showed him the light that didn't work I felt like he didn't want to do the job. When I mentioned I wanted to replace two wall sockets which I had he said he would have to add a wire for the ground. Which made me think he wouldn't do it. I think he knew I was not pleased so he said I could cancel. I don't know when I set up an appointment to have a service done that I need I do it because I need it or I wouldn't do it. I explained to him that I wasn't happy with the run-around and he started arguing with me and again said I should cancel. I said fine but I was still writing a bad review which he was really concerned about. As he was leaving he threaten to call the city and report exposed wires. I am like a majority of people who have handy men in their family and I am sure that when one of my family members put up that light they were not aware that it was not up to code. No worries, as soon as I went in the house I called another electrician and he will be here tomorrow. It is unfortunate that Jeff didn't work out because I have a few big projects that I am planning to do right after the light on the garage is fixed and some electrician is going to get the job.

An appointment was made at the time I requested. Jeff and another worker arrived on time and were very professional. The deal was for 2 workers for 2 hours or 1 worker for 4 hours. I had purchased 1 ceiling fan and 2 outdoor fixtures to be replaced. They completed the work in a little over an hour. I wish I was prepared with more electrical work to add to my list. They did a very good job and cleaned up the areas. I did not realize I had bought outdoor fixtures that were automatic. I was extremely glad that this was demonstrated for me. I would recommend Dwelling Electric.

I purchased the Big Deal "Electrician for the Day" for $399 in mid July after reading favorable reviews. The earliest date Dwelling was available was in September. The deal was 8 hours of basic electrical work with an electrician. I contacted Dwelling obtained details of what fell in the scope of the deal. My priority project was to have my '48 inch LCD TV mounted with wiring behind the wall. Jeff of Dwelling told me that mounting the TV was something he did on a regular basis and that after he mounted the TV he could do any additional electrical chores within the eight hours. He felt that a TV mount was achievable within the 8 hour time frame. The morning of his appointment I was contacted by Dwelling and they informed me that two electricians would be coming to the job and because it was two people that the 8 hr day would be 4 hours. I did not mind this arrangement as long as they were able to complete the TV mounting. Jeff and his associated arrived around 9am. On arrival we agreed the TV mount was priority. We went over the plan and he agreed to purchase the material he needed. In the meantime he had his associate start on secondary projects (mounted the porch light: 20 min job) and exchange of outlets. Jeff returned from the store after about one hour. He started working on the TV mount and reassured me that he would be able to complete the job within the time-frame that I purchased. Around 1:15pm I asked about the progress on the project I had to go to work and I wanted to get an idea how much more time was needed. By this time both Jeff and his employee were working on the TV. Jeff told me the hard part was done and he would be done shortly. I left my mobile phone number and instructed Jeff to call me if there were any issues. I left my father at the house to field any questions or concerns as well. When I came home from work Jeff had completed the job but I was charged an additional $225 for labor. They did not complete the TV mount until after 3pm. My primary issue is that Jeff told me that he could complete the priority project (TV mount) within the agreed 8 hour labor period. When I contacted Jeff about my concern with the additional labor cost he simply said that the job took more time after I left. I thought the additional labor cost was significant especially when we discussed his ability to finish the job within the allotted time frame. I asked him why didn't he contact me when he wasn't able to finish the job within the allotted time and had no answer. He was unapologetic. I have no issues with Dwelling's craftsmanship. The TV was mount fine. I had asked him to drill a hole in one of the shelves so I could pass wires between my DVR and DVD and he did not. When I asked about that aspect of the project he said he could have done it but it would have taken more time. This was something we agreed he would do as well. There were two outlets that were not changed out but that was a priority. I just expect that when a contractor tells me they can do a job within a certain time frame I expect them to keep their word. If they are unable to complete the job within the agreed upon time then I expect a courtesy call so that we can dialogue on how to proceed. I just think that is the professional thing to do. My advice to potential customers with Dwelling: make sure you contract the job and not the time because it felt like a bait and switch as far as the "The Big Deal" at least in my case. Overall craftsmanship was fine but customer service was marginal at best. I expect contractors to keep me informed and deliver what they advertise. Dwelling Electric has been the first Angie's List contractor that I have had an issue with. I will have to be more diligent in the future and cannot assume that all contractors on Angie's List highly value customer service.

Response from Dwelling Electric Inc.
Please allow me to discredit the misdiagnosis done by the doctor who was not present during this operation. Dear [member name removed], First off, I never mislead people, I am always straightforward as to what needs to be done and how long a job could take. Sometimes, a job could take longer and it is impossible to determine in certain situations. In the beginning, I let you know this job could take longer, at that time you asked what my rate would be for additional work. After I gave you my rate, you said 'ok' and that you would need to purchase additional time, and you allowed me to proceed. When I found out that your t.v. mount bracket that you probably purchased on sale, did not match the standard stud measurements that were done correctly inside your wall, your father advised me to call you and I did. After trying to call you several times and not being able to reach you, I felt uncomfortable about the small amount of time that was going over into additional billing status. I then made the decision to finish-up your "priority" job, which was mounting the t.v. and completing the 4 devices that needed to be completed by an electrician to be safe. Beforehand, I drilled 2 holes in your cabinetry for your wires to be passed thru for your convenience, from the middle to each side of your cabinet. Additionally, I enlarged the pre-drilled holes in the top & bottom of the center piece to allow your wires to be passed from the top to the bottom. Addt'l holes could've been drilled on the ends, yet I still could not reach you on the phone. You had mentioned that you could drill the holes yourself, so under the circumstances, I thought it would be best not to, due to the additional billing. All you have to do is check your phone log and you would see the missed calls from me. When we spoke last night, it was late at night, I was very tired and did not remember that I tried calling you. I think the 'stop-payment' you placed on the check you paid to me was an irrational and impulsive move. If this was a 'bait and switch' as you say, and all I cared about was money and not honesty and quality of work, I would sue you for 3 times the amount of your check, as the law permits. As an educated doctor, how irresponsible of you to leave and leave your father in charge, who was sleeping most of the time and was unable to make decisions regarding the work. After trying to reach you, and being unable to do so, we made our best educated decision. Lastly, as someone who has an ethical responsibility to the public, why would you post such lies to damage a company that has an impeccable reputation with excellent feedback and great customer service.

I hired Dwelling Electric to replace two original light fixtures and several outlet and switches in our 30-year old house. He was able to perform all the work efficiently and without any problems. He offered suggestions on items in our house that for present day were not up to code and would have to be replaced if we ever were to sell. It was good to know and I appreciated his comments. He did all the work in a timely manner and cleaned up all debris. The only reason I gave him a "B" in punctuality was because the first appointment we set up had to be changed when he got stuck in traffic. Since he was running late, I decided to reschedule. But he had called me at the first indication that he might be late. I was pleased with his work and will definitely call him the next time I need some electrical work done.
