Their price was reasonable, they were flexible with our changing schedule, they did the job and got clearance, but... DFHS did a messy job. They left material in the crevices around the walls and closets, didn't take down closet tracks or light fixtures, and they left debris on the top shelf of my hallway linen closet. Even my painting contractors commented that they had never seen such a messy job, with the encapsulant running all the way down the walls. I assumed that since they had gotten clearance , everything should be ok. In the two years since this job was done, I have been vacuuming up material from around the edges of the carpet and in the stairway that appears to have the popcorn appearance of the ceiling. We are now in the process of replacing the flooring, and finding the material around the edges of the carpet and underneath. While I can't prove that their messy job left the materials, I was recently told by another asbestos professional that the debris was most likely left behind when the ceiling was removed; that the company probably did not vacuume after they finished the job (after the clearance), so materials from the ceiling ended up around the edges of the rooms and stairway. This is particularly disconcerting, as I have a six-year old son who has been playing on the stairs for the last two years. I am concerned that he has been exposed to asbestos in the two years since the job was done. Pieces of material continue to fall from the ceiling in the hallway linen closet. I have pictures that I will post later. The ceiling was not replaced in this area, so I am positive it is from their work. Seeing this indicates to me the likelihood that the debris I have been vacuuming up fell off during or after they finished their job, which was supposed to be abatement, or complete removal. DEHS refuses to inspect their work or take any responsibility; they are defensive and demonstrate complete lack of concern for the health of me and my son, blaming me for waiting two years to report a problem. Well, jeez, I gave them the benefit of the doubt all this time. Buyer BEWARE. I would NOT recommend them to other homeowners, the way they left the job and have failed to be responsive to my concerns.
