BUDGET BLINDS OF MIRAMAR

Moe came to my home on time, measured all required windows and gave me a quote for Plantation Shutters from a great company (Norman Blinds). I was still getting quotes from other companies, so I had to wait on the actual contract signing. After dealing with the rep from HOME DEPOT in my area, and their high cost/low quality shutters, and the EXTREMELY high cost of 3 Day Blinds, (who also used the same company as Budget Blinds) we decided to go with Budget Blinds. I had two changes to the original quote, which was to make the larger windows FAN shutters instead of the straight up/down shutters. Moe said it would be the same cost, regardless. Home Depot added another $1000 to that change when asked. The shutters were ordered and 5 weeks later (as quoted) my shutters were ready. Moe came to install with another worker and they worked for 3 hours non-stop installing all the shutters. My husband and I were informed by Moe that the Master Bedroom shutters were built upside down. They installed it anyway, but they were going to reorder and reinstall the new one at no charge (of course). They didn't want us to not have anything on the window for another 5 weeks. By the time they were done, we (my husband and I) decided to have shutters done for our master bath as well. Moe suggested a different type of shutter made with PVC because of the moisture in the bathroom. Sounds cheap, but the quality is very good. They are just heavier than the Norman WOOD shutters. We decided to go along with that. Moe measured, recommended the opening styles and other features. He gave us reasons for what he recommended and let us decide in the end. He was so dismayed by the Norman Shutter scew-up that he said he won't take final payment until the job was complete. This, in my opinion, shows Moe's ethical character. We were very impressed with his professionalism and the outcome. We LOVE the shutters!

I worked with Moe and he was very accommodating and professional throughout the process. We were able to get an estimate appointment fairly quickly and Moe helped us pick out products that would work best for us. We were considering motorized shades for our high windows and he did not try to upsell and instead recommended that we just go with the manual ones since we probably wouldn't be opening and closing those shades all that often (and he was right, we haven't touched them since the install!). We were able to do installation about 2.5 weeks later and everything was installed within 2-3 hours. We have some tight hallways/spaces in our home and they were very careful to avoid letting the shutters and ladders nick/scratch walls. Moe also showed us how to tighten up the open/close mechanism if they were to become loose in the future and how to prevent the shutters from sagging by making sure to rest them on the window frame when opening them up for cleaning. Customer service and attitude were excellent, especially compared to the Costco Hunter-Douglas rep that came for an estimate right after our Budget Blinds estimate. The Costco/Hunter-Douglas rep started off by parking in the fire zone of our complex and then passed right by me playing with my son directly in front of our home without so much as a glance/hello. She then spent most of the appointment trashing Budget Blinds and making us feel like we had "bad taste" if we went with Budget Blinds over Hunter-Douglas. It did not help either that the Costco estimate came in at almost $3000 more than Budget Blind's (and she insisted on the motorized shades)! We generally love the quality of Costco-endorsed products, but this time it was just too far out of our budget.

I found Budget Blinds on the internet and the closest to my zip was in Scripps Ranch area. I emailed on a weekend and got a call at my office on Monday morning from Kathy, Moe's wife. She set up a consult for that Wednesday, at 4 PM. Moe arrived on time, with a "Budget Blinds" minivan and several sample boxes. I showed him the areas I wanted to have new treatments for and that I was interested in shutters for my bedroom. Moe spent about 2 hours with me and gave me great ideas. He was professional and solicitous of my ideas (gently letting me know some interior decorating tips in terms of having all your window treatments kind of match). I received a 30% discount and a free upgrade on the honeycombs. After purchase, Kathy called me to arrange installation which came twice because the shutters took longer to make. Arrived on time, left little/no mess, very friendly. AN EXCELLENT EXPERIENCE and quality products. If you want it done and done right, call these people!
