Description of Work: My patio open beamed roof cover was showing rot on the top cross members needing replacement and painting.Don Scouten came at the appointed time and knowledgely discussed the job requirements on viewing and gave an immediate estimate for cost and time to complete, which I accepted, and signed what amounted to a handwritten job order. A formal contract arrived in a couple of days which I signed and faxed back and agreed a start date. The crew arrived on time and started to dismantle the old cover which exposed further beams required replacing. The additional cost was accepted and work continued. When the crew started to fix the new cover 4"x2"s supervision of the work was lacking and the nail gun operator was damaging the main support beams by driving the nails through the 4"x2"s and out of the side of the main support beam. I was present and stopped the work immediately pointing out the problem and said attaching with screws as were the originals, rather than nails, would be a better job as there was more control over the screws' direction and could be driven vertically as required. This was accepted, the damage repaired and the whole job completed with screws. The new wood and the original remaining structure was painted before assembly and at least twice afterwards. I accepted the final work was satisfactory and paid the invoice on arrival. Subsequently, I called Best-Rate and pointed out that they advertised 10% reduction for seniors which had not been given. They immediately agreed and sent me a check for that 10% and apologised for the oversight. Altogether, I was satisfied with the work done and would use them again.

Description of Work: Best Rate Repair Co. repaired dry-rot damage in an outdoor door frame. I used a big deal coupon so I'm not sure what this repair would have otherwise cost. Estimator was spot on and polite. The actual work was performed by another person. He was prompt and paid attention to detail. Great craftsmanship!

Description of Work: I purchased a coupon for $167 for 4 hours of wood rot repair. The estimator told me this was an $800 job and that if I bought the coupon he would do the work for $400. I agreed. When the workers appeared they told me that I needed to pay them $400 for the work to be done. I was of the impression that the $167 I spent for the coupon would be part of the $400. I was told "no". I was not willing to spend $567 on this project and told them to leave. A few minutes later the estimator called me back and said to get a refund for the $167 from Angie's list, and he would do the job for $400. That was OK with me as I was expecting to pay $400 for the project. The 2 workmen Robert and Rick did an excellent, quality job in a good time frame and I am very happy with their work.

Description of Work: I replaced my window and therefore did not need repair of wood rot around the window. Services were no longer required. The provider did respond quickly with a quote when requested.

Description of Work: Outrageous estimate for the cost of replacing a deck. Out of 10 contractors interviewed, they were the highest, coming in at 2 1/2 times the best estimate. Also, took almost two weeks to receive the actual estimate. Their estimate to rebuild a deck was $110,000. Another established and exceptionally rated company, (by Angie's List), gave me the actual plan to build the deck for $45,000, and gave me that estimate the next day. If money is no object, you might consider them, otherwise..
