The person said he was 2 gallons short in putting in the Coolant material because he ran out. He said he was coming back but has never showed. I will never use Ace or Home Advisor again!

We had a water heater that needed to have a gas valve/regulator replaced (manufacturer was kind enough to overnight us the part). The only reason I hired this company (among 5-6 plumbing companies I spoke with) was their assurance that they can have a plumber out to our condo at the time I was available (8-9AM). This was the sole reason I picked them, despite the fact they would not provide a rough estimate of the cost...Few minutes before 9AM I called to check that the plumber was on his way (we were supposed to be the first appointment of the day), but was told that the plumber should be there between 10-11AM. When I protested, I was told that I am welcome to get another plumber - like it is easy to get someone to show up right away. Shortly after I had another call from the plumber that said he would be there at 10AM, and the despite the fact I was told previously that cost estimate cannot be provided over the phone, the plumber told me to the cost for this job ($225) because he did not want to waste his time coming out, if I was not going to approve the repair at that cost. I was not given the option of applying their online coupon... Since we did not have any other reasonable options, I said yes, and the plumber showed up at 10AM and proceeded with the repair. I had to leave as I was late for work already, but my daughter who lives in the condo did say that we now have hot water, so I assume the repair was completed professionally, although I have not yet inspected the work myself... 12/12/17: Update. The water heater only worked for one day after the part was replaced, but it does not look like this was due to defective workmanship. The plumber came out again and tried starting the pilot light... Unfortunately, since the manufacturer provided the part to be replaced and was not purchased from the plumber, they would not provide any warranty, nor would they allow me to apply the cost of the valve installation towards a new water heater installation.

they came out, gave an estimate and came back the next day to install the furnace. They cleaned up and finished up with re- insulation of the air inlet box.

I received an estimate for replacing a valve, fixing a shower handle and installing fake logs in a fireplace. The quote for these three items was 600.00. I felt that was high and was told that the two cartridges in the bathrooms needed replacing. I questioned the plumber about the cost of the cartridges and was told that they were very expensive. I have replaced these myself in the past but it has been 30 years ago so it is possible they are much more than I remembered. I was given an agreement to sign and the work progressed. On Monday the plumber returned and complained that one cartridge cost $300 to purchase. Therefore the charges would be higher than $600. The fireplace logs were not installed he kept all the parts he removed from my plumbing and I paid 600 dollars to have two faucets repaired. I don't understand why one of the cartridges needed replacing when it was only the handle I complained about and that handle did get replaced with a plastic handle rather than the fancier metal handle that was originally there. He kept the metal handle. He gave me his number to call when I wanted the fire logs installed. Since that would run my costs up even higher I will do that job myself. I feel cheated and cannot recommend Ace Plumbers . I don't know how they have managed to do business since 1958 with this kind of service

The apprentice had a little problem remembering the sequence of events and had to do over a couple of items, indicates the journeyman should have been there all the time, clean up could have been a bit better. In the long run the job was done correctly and the price was acceptable.

Tony was in my house for a total of 45 minutes, of which, 15 minutes actually working on fixing the issue. The other 30 minutes was him chatting and telling stories. He brought his son with him and half of the 15 minutes of work was having his son "hunt" for the right part in his truck. So, he was using client time to learn on the job. Tony was there to replace the dual run capacitor and add a hard-start kit to the air conditioner system. The "capacitor" ranges in price from $10 - $30. The hard-start kit ranges in price from $11 - $60. He also replaced one 30AMP fuse priced at $4.29. Tony charged my credit card $729. When I asked Tony to give me a breakdown of parts and labor, he has refused. I've emailed 4 times now and he has refused to break down the invoice for me. He must be trying to hide the outrageous fee he charged for "labor". If the "parts" on the high end cost a total of $100, then he has charged a labor fee of $629. That comes out to $838/hour labor charge (assuming he spent the entire 45 minutes working). In his case, for 15 minutes of work, his effective labor charge/hour is $2,516/hour. Online research shows most PROs will charge approximately 255-$300 to replace a capacitor. Separately, the cost to replace a hard start kit approximately $185. Together, the labor charge is the same as the technician is in the system already. So a reasonable charge for this fix would be approximately $300-400. Seeing as Tony has not replied to any of my emails, has yet to supply me with an invoice showing parts and labor, and has yet to explain why he thinks his charge for $729 is appropriate and in line with industry standards, I have no choice but to leave this honest review. I hope others stay clear of Tony and ACE contractors. If you need proof that this "fix" is not a big complicated job, and a simple 15-minute process, please watch these two videos on how to fix yourself. Pretty easy!
