In no way, have I been dishonest with [removed member name]. The prices in your review, were not the prices I quoted you, nor did I sign an agreement . From your very first email, you have tried to change the cost of the move, even stating that the Angie’s List Big deal was 3 movers/3 hours at $145.00. That was never offered or posted on Angie’s List. I quoted $2,462.00 for a two day move. You paid $1,915.00. On January 3rd, I gave you an additional mover at no charge, a $300.00 value, plus a additional $265.00 discount. On January 4th, I gave you that move at no charge, a $500.00 value, which was a reimbursement for the marble table. And on January 11, I wrote you a check for $175.00 for broken glasses, (which my company did not pack). You received labor and price adjustments of $1,240.00. RE: broken glasses - We did not wrap and pack your possessions, you packed the boxes yourself. Some of those boxes weighed in excess of 120 lbs. The boxes were NOT stacked, because of their weight. It is too bad that glasses were broken, but my crew did not cause this damage.(As a customer service gesture on my part, I sent you $175.00) RE: the marble table – Yes, the movers called me immediately and told me that the marble was broken. At that time, I offered to have the marble replaced, or that if you’d like, we could deduct that amount from the 2nd moving day. You agreed to a $500.00 discount, rather than repairing the table (that was your choice). RE: my employees – They are very careful and try their best not to damage any customers’ belongings, and if they accidentally do, they call me immediately, I take care of it. There was no call, regarding the dining table, because they did not damage the dining table. RE: lunch time – I’m sorry my employees didn’t let you know that they were stopping for lunch. They should have. They are allowed to take an hour lunch, and you were not charged for that hour. As far as the route is concerned, we cannot be blamed for road conditions. That being said, we use caution at all times, especially near road construction and speed bumps. RE: hours – This company and employees, are well known for our high level of efficiency. We do not encourage them to make a move last longer than necessary. RE: the dining table - During the walk thru, you pointed out how your table was important to you. Prior to the move, I instructed the movers to use extra caution and the utmost care with your table. The base was padded and the table top was padded with three high quality and thick moving blankets. Then it was placed on the truck, and nothing was stacked on top of it, nor did anything fall on it. You say that no one was in the back of the truck, on the drive to your home, no, but when opening the back, they would have seen if a box or anything had fallen on or near the table. Ron, from the Mahogany Shop, told you, and then told me, that in his professional opinion the small blemish, did not occur because of any negligence on our part, and that you didn't notice anything amiss until your housekeeper pointed it out. It is possible that it was there before the move, or even occurred after the move was completed. (Before the move, I did not notice a scratch. After the move, I did not notice a scratch, until you said to look at it “just so” in certain lighting. Then I noticed the scratch, which means it could have been there before I ever saw the table.. Also, since notifying me about the scratch, it seems the table becomes more damaged with each passing day. Moving Blankets – again, we use clean, heavy, high quality moving blankets, with NO wood chips. We don’t haul timber, lumber, or firewood. And wood chips could not damage the table, anyway. Insurance - At the time of the move, you were given the booklet "Important information for Persons Moving Household Goods (within California), and you signed the "Agreement for Moving Services". (You were actually given and signed two sets of these documents, one set for each day). Both of those state that we are required to supply basic insurance, which is 60 cents per pound per article damaged or lost.. The insurance company pays according to the coverage the consumer chooses.. The customer has the option of purchasing additional moving insurance. Our moving insurance is not bogus and is required by the state of California, CPUC. 1st Choice Movers is huge on customer service, and I go out of my way to make the customer happy, altho it is not always possible. We have many, many satisfied and repeat customers, and have been given the Angie’s List “Super Service Award” two years in a row.
