Kitcheneering

I had excellent experience. She is excellent. I found her very easy to work with. She is a creative designer who, at least with respect to our project, came up with a very practical efficient kitchen design. And she also has a cabinetry and if you use her cabinetry the charge for the design would be applied to the cabinetry. But if you only want the design and you're not interested in using her cabinetry you certainly can beat her price.

I contacted Moorea because I liked her overall philosophy...design with cooking in mind, or something like that. Initial call in July/August was good; I wasn't quite ready and we planned for a second contact in September. I called her back and we talked for a while, set up a meeting...and then she asked my budget. She basically told me that it really would not be worth my time or her time to meet with me; that $40,000 to $50,000 was the minimum budget she was willing to work with.

Moorea met with us on several occasions prior to our final plan approval to determine our personal desires and lifestyle, as well as to help make incredibly wonderful suggestions to improve our previous lack of flow and functionality. Moorea is a co-author of the book, Kitchen Design with Cooks In Mind, which we also read prior to finalizing our plans and to help us gain a better understanding of the importance of layout, comparison of appliances, cabinetry, etc... She was even able to convince my husband that we could indeed have the large kitchen island I always wanted. Initially, both my husband and our contractor felt that with a limited space an island would most likely prove not to be as functional as I wanted it to be. By demonstrating her expertise with space/mathematics/ergonomics, a language my husband infinitely understands, Moorea was able to convince them both that an island was not only possible, it was a must. Once we finalized our plans, Moorea was always available to our contractor and us as often as we needed, either in person or by phone/computer. She was frequently on the job site from beginning to end of our project. We continue to be friends to date and we have her and her husband Ted over from time to time to enjoy a dinner prepared in our fabulous kitchen.

Moorea’s knowledge of architecture, construction, design, products, and manufacturers enabled her to skillfully coordinate between us and the contractors. This was a huge relief and resulted in a timely, sequential approach that kept us on budget. You cannot ask for more than that!

We could not be any happier with our project all due to the incredible talents and expertise of Ms. Moorea Hoffman of Kitcheneering Studio Design. Ms. Hoffman spent as much time as we needed to determine what we wanted and needed in our new kitchen design, including bringing ideas to the table that we would never have thought of. Her ideas resulted in far more organized and plentiful storage areas, a far more ergonomic and accomodating work area, and an overall aesthetic that simply would have been unacheivable were it not for her insight and expertise. Initially our contractor had my husband convinced that the only workable kitchen design was a u-shaped design. I had always dreamed of having a huge kitchen island and was not at all about to take this advice lying down. I convinced my husband to at least consult with Ms. Hoffman before we made a decision. You know those times when you do something and later on you are so glad you went through with it that you almost want to cry about almost not having done it? Well, this was definitely one of those times for me. Ms. Hoffman listened to our every wish, provided ideas that we would never have come up with ourselves, and then incorporated all of that into the most incredible kitchen you can possibly imagine. She had her work cut out for her convincing my husband and our contractor, but once she created her design and could use mathematics to explain every detail regarding the kitchen layout, my husband began to come around. By speaking to my husband's concerns and having every detail explained to him in numbers he could completely relate to, Ms. Hoffman completely won him over. I was to get my wonderful island after all. We spend numerous hours discussing various appliances, countertop materials, tile, flooring, and lighting, Ms Hoffman was a plethora of information regarding all aspects, in fact, she has co-authored a book all about kitchen design which was also extremely helpful reading. By working with Ms. Hoffman throughout our project we avoided so many potential pitfalls. We look at our gorgeous and completely functional new kitchen and know with absolute confidence there is not a single thing we would have done differently because it truly is just perfect. We simply could not be happier. Our favorite thing to do now is to go to our local farmers market with friends early on a Saturday morning, buy everything that looks fresh and delicious, and then come home and gather in our beautiful kitchen while everyone gets busy creating their own special dish. There's plenty of room for all of us cooks to work comfortably and in such a fabulous setting.
