Erick Allen was very professional and so was his crew. He has perfect taste and really made some beautiful things for my home. I recommend him highly and will use him on all my remodel needs. His crew always cleaned up after themselves and made sure I was completely satisfied with every detail. I am so glad I chose to use this company and you will too!

The work was excellent to every detail. Not only did he design something that was my taste, he really took the time to ask what I liked and what I did not like. He listened to my feedback as well and this made the process go very smoothly. His crew was very professional and they always arrived when they said they would. Erick Allen even helped me to get discounts on all my appliances which saved me thousands. My kitchen turned out to be beautiful. Custom maple cabinetry, granite counter tops, mosaic marble tile back splash, simply stunning! There is also recess lighting in the ceiling and under cabinet lighting which accents everything beautifully! I have decided to use Erick Allen Designs and Remodeling to remodel my bathroom in a few months and I am thrilled.

Erick Allen Designs and Remodeling did a terrific job on my kitchen and bathroom projects. His designs were top of the line and very much to my satisfaction. He gave me options to choose from which speaks highly of his dedication to providing the best of the best to us. His crew was on time and very professional. When the work was being performed his crew was always mindful of keeping the are clean and clear of debris. The project was smooth from beginning to end and always mindful of budget and timing. I was very satisfied and happy with the work done and will very likely use him again.

I called Allen around August 19th but didn't hear back for a week. When he did call he said he?d been out of town. We made an appointment for when he returned - Thursday September 5 between 9:30 and 10:30 Allen didn't show, I was told that his assistant John had mixed up the times. He eventually showed later that day. I gave him copious notes, drawings and a picture of our needs. It is not a small project; the cost is in the $40 to $45 thousand range. He left with the promise of a quote by the following Thursday, (September 12th), at the latest. I never heard back! I sent an Email Friday September 13 asking for information ? NO reply, not even an acknowledgment. It is almost a month since my first telephone call to him I have received absolutely nothing. A COMPLETE WASTE OF OUR TIME. He is totally unprofessional ? you can expect the prospect of similar treatment if you try to do business with him!

Erick Allen is terrific! We've used his company twice for (1) construction of a media center, and (2) a complete kitchen remodel. He has a great sense of design and insists on high quality craftsmanship. And he's very available at all stages of a remodel--he does *not* disappear like some contractors. We are hoping to hire him for future bath remodels. He's the best!

Ironically, Erick was the highest bidder out of seven contractors with whom we talked. Nonetheless, we felt totally comfortable with Erick and believed he was the most talented of all the contractors we vetted. Erick is a licensed Interior Designer and General Contractor, which is as rare as a rainbow in the Sahara. He had a lot of great ideas, plus a ?built-in sense of style? in how things should look, coupled an innate desire for quality. Erick?s crew worked closely with my wife, who is very particular about how things should be done. The guys rolled with the punches when she was picky and were always respectful and cheerful. They always cleaned up after themselves and made every effort to be mindful that this was our home. At one point we hit a serious problem with an attic floor and the adjoining kitchen ceiling below. This unanticipated issue resulted from the manner in which our kitchen was originally built. Correcting this complication required four additional days of labor, plus enough building materials to fill up a very large patio. I figured that this could cost us another $8,000 - $10,000. When I asked Erick how much more it would be, he said I shouldn?t worry about it ? it was included. I almost fell over. At that moment, I learned that Erick seems to build into his bids the inescapable challenges that are sure to come up in every project. He knows that there will be surprises along the way that will add to the underlying cost. Most contractors bid low and then have to come after you later for more money. He doesn?t appear to do that. So, in the end, Erick?s fee was quite reasonable for what had to be done ? and he looked like a hero. We may be planning a bathroom remodel some time in the future. I won?t have to think twice about who we will have do the job. Do yourself a big favor too if you?re contemplating a kitchen or bath remodel, don?t think twice either.

Most of the estimates were high. They are a good company. Their estimate is high and I was looking lower than that. They were cooperative and gave the estimate on time. Everything was very good. They were professionally good. If their estimate is reasonable I will use them in the future.

We were very happy with the work he did in our home

I was fairly impressed. He did a good job. His employees were very helpful. I was very happy with it.

We hired Erick Allen to remodel our kitchen and laundry room. The remodeling also included new hardwood flooring throughout much of the first floor as well as repainting and ceiling scraping. We couldn't be more pleased with the end result. There were delays here and there as can be expected when dealing with multiple sub-contractors and suppliers, but the project moved along well overall. There weren't many days when work wasn't being done on something. Erick was a pleasure to work with. He had his own design preferences, but was very accommodative to our specific tastes. He freely offered his opinions on color, material choices, styles, etc., but never pressured us to make specific design choices. When choosing granite countertops, for example, we were looking at two similar choices, one with a slight greenish hue and one with a blueish. We were leaning towards the blueish, but when I asked Erick what he thought, he simply pointed out that green is a much easier color to match with other parts of the decor. We ended up going with the greenish one, and were very happy with the decision once the entire project was completed. Erick also added some unique design touches that give a very elegant look to the kitchen. All of the kitchen wall surface is covered with a mosaic tile back-splash, from countertop to ceiling. The tiles are varying shades of glass and stone, and I think the overall look gives an art-deco flavor. The style ties in nicely with the rest of the kitchen. We also borrowed a design element from another kitchen we'd seen on Erick's web site which is an arch over the peninsula counter bookended by two hanging cabinets. The cabinets have glass doors on both sides, glass shelves, and lighting at the top. They're ideal for showing off nice glassware and other nicknacks. We've been very pleased with our new kitchen, and will likely be hiring Erick again at some point in the future to remodel the master bedroom and bath.

We met Erick for the first time when he came to our home to discuss our plans and dreams and to prepare an estimate. From that first meeting, we knew we had found a special guy and the person that we would want to take on this fairly large job. We did our due diligence and interviewed two other contractors but already knew that we wanted Erick for the job. In terms of pricing, Erick's estimate was in between the two other estimates. Our plans involved a complete kitchen gut and remodel along with opening up a load bearing wall that separates the kitchen and living room. We also did a complete gut and remodel of the Master bathroom and that included closing up a hallway door that led to the bathroom and keeping the access door from the Master bedroom. We also removed the popcorn celings throughout the house and replaced it with a smooth finished ceiling. We removed all of the carpeting and linoleum and replaced it with hardwood floors throughout most of the house except for carpet in a couple bedrooms and marble tile in the two bathrooms. Erick installed low voltage LED recessed lighting throughout the house and just that change alone has given a custom look to our home. He is a big proponent of having the right lighting for a room and his designs were right on. We have dimmer switches for all of the lights so that we can lower the brightness when needed and this saves even more electricity. Erick even installed a smaller LED spot light above our baby grand piano so that the keys and music are lit up at night. It's a very cool touch and for all you pianists out there, it feels like you're on stage! Finally, Erick also spruced up our fireplace with a new mantel and paneling above it and installed a surround sound system in the living room with recessed speakers in the ceiling and wall. The total dollar amount that we've listed for our project is a close approximate and it includes all of the purchases that we made ourselves, such as the appliances. Even with the fixtures and appliances that we had to buy, Erick gave us some great suggestions on where to find things and what to look out for. When you have an Erick Allen designed home, you also get his great crew as part of the deal and we were very happy with all of the guys on Erick's team. They are skilled at what they do and always worked with a good attitude. Others on this site have written about Erick's great attitude and the smile that he always has on his face. We can confirm that this is all true and in addition to that, he is very knowledgeable in all areas of home design and construction. He has become much more than a contractor to us, he is now our friend. And what do we think about the end results? We are absoulutely thrilled with how our home has been transformed from a stock 1962 tract home to a 2012 custom Erick Allen home. We have received rave reviews from our friends that have visited us since the completion. We highly recommend Erick Allen Designs and if all the above wasn't enough, he is also a talented interior designer and he helped us pick out all of the paint colors as we repainted the entire interior of the home.

It was a very pleasant and professional experience.

Everything was completed as expected in the expected time frame. They ran into a couple of challenges because the pipes were old and corroded, but they were able to work through them and finish the job.

They were a little expensive, but they did a very nice job.

We asked for it to be handicapped accessible and it turned out to be not only functional, but also unique and beautiful. The whole crew was very responsive to my calls and needs. We will be using them for a kitchen remodel next year. Cindy Eagan

When I initiated contact with Erick Allen, it took approximately one month to get an appointment to have him come out to get an estimate. When he did come out, he was very professional and provided excellent design opinions. He listened very carefully to what we wanted to have done and seemed to be able to improve on the ideas while keeping the designs within our taste. The work took seven weeks to complete. John, Scott, Andreas, and the entire tile and finishing crew were extremely great to work with. They cleaned up consistently and were always willing to educate me on other remodeling projects I was taking on myself. Erick came by a few times a week to check on work progress and always stopped by at my request to answer questions. He was very flexible and worked with us when we had design change ideas without charging us extra (with a couple exceptions on material). The work is extremely beautiful and they are some of my favorite rooms in the house now. Erick also provides excellent support after the work is done as well. The crew came out for some touch up on paint/finish on the cabinets and to fix some plumbing issues without any complaint. They always conveyed that they want to make sure the customer is happy. We're looking forward to working with Erick Allen and his crew again for our future remodeling projects.

Wow! Another great experience way beyond our expectations!!! Erick Allen and crew completely remodeled our kitchen last year. As I mention in my review of that project (dated 7/30/10), the kitchen is my favorite room in the house. So when I discovered water on the kitchen floor one morning, I got a little concerned. I traced the water from the floor, up through one of the kitchen cabinets and through the ceiling. We had two plumbers come to assess the situation. Neither one diagnosed the problem correctly, and the leak continued. At that time, I never thought to have Erick Allen fix a plumbing problem. But at that point, I was afraid my cabinets were going to get damaged, so I called Erick. He arrived and within 45 minutes, not only did he find the leak, but he video taped it on his phone. We scheduled the repair, which was estimated to take 3 days. John & Scott arrived and evaluated the situation. They determined a less invasive way to repair the pipe. The were finished in 4.5 hours and the bill was almost one third of the original estimate. THESE GUYS KNOW THEIR STUFF!!!!! I am so impressed with the knowledge and expertise... and they saved me a ton of money. I am so relieved. My kitchen is in perfect shape and beautiful as ever. I cannot wait for my next opportunity to have Erick and his crew remodel something in my house. Their work is fabulous! Thank you Erick, John & Scott!!!!

I had a bathtub that needed fiberglass repair. Erick called me back immediately with a name of number of someone who he has used in the past and trusted with his remodels.

I contacted them since they have very good ratings on Angies List.May be they are too busy to respond !

We just bought this 1972 house with a kitchen that was really out of date. Being true beginners in regards to remodeling projects, we interviewed Erick Allen to find out if our dream kitchen was even a possibility on our budget. Erick was very nice and professional. I knew from his website and just by meeting him, that he was very experienced and could pretty much do any kind of remodeling project. He spent a lot of time listening to our ideas and then evaluating what it would take to make it a reality. Before he left that first day, he gave us an estimate to complete the project. That alone was impressive, because other estimates we received took days to complete. I now understand why Erick was so prompt... because he really knows his stuff. We were excited to learn that Erick could work within our budget. Throughout the project, he advised us on where to buy appliances, light fixtures, etc. in order to find good quality and low prices. John & Scott were the main guys on the project, and they were fantastic! They left the house neat and clean every day. Along the way, Erick helped me to make the right decisions in regards to granite, backsplash, paint colors, etc. I am so happy with the results I could just scream. I love working in the kitchen. It is by far my favorite room in the house. I can't wait for the next opportunity to remodel something, because I know who to call. Erick was always available via phone or email. I never had to wait very long to hear back from him. In fact, many times I'd call him with a question and he'd call me back without even wasting time to listen to my voicemail. I can't thank him enough!

Erick impressed me from day one because he really listened to what I told him I wanted and didn't try to push me to go beyond my limited budget. He and his team were pleasent, helpful, considerate of my family's needs and always left the house neat. When a problem arose (medicine cabinets I'd purchased could not be installed as I'd planned), and I'd probably have panicked, John, the job foreman just grinned and said "Don't worry we'll make it work." And they did, beautifully.

Erick Allen, the owner, was hands on throughout the project. He seemed to be highly experienced in this field of business. He is very polite and professional. We basically told him what we wanted to achieve and he met our expectation. He met us at his recommended store to select stones and tiles. He also helped us pick lighting fixtures. He is always responsive when we called and emailed him. Project took 2 months from signing the contract to completion. There are some small details that we are still expecting to get completed. Quality of work is excellent. The workers always made sure construction areas were cleaned up at the end of day. This was very important for us. We feel that pricing was a good value for the high quality workmanship and quality of material used.

Erick Allen himself answered our call for a job review and following estimate. He was very responsive and even came to our home on a Sunday PM. He said he would be working on the estimate the next day. I think it was Wednesday when I left a voicemail and my phone contact number. We have never heard back from him. Period. Our work would require new lower kitchen cabinets, granite counters and sink install as well as the appliances. Also drywall replacement from flood damage (already sanitized by Serv-Pro) for the downstairs and 600 sq ft of hardwood flooring installed as well as 5 rooms to paint.

During the second week of February '10, speaking with Mr. Allen, I established an appointment with Mr. Allen for an initial project review meeting at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, Februay 15, '10 in my home. He never called to say he wasn't coming and never showed up after I arranged my schedule to be present. Very dissapointing and surprising considering the rave reviews by all those before me. Lack of reliablity at that early stage of the project will cause me to seek these services elsewhere since when I did finally reach him by phone two days later he had no record of the appointment and no real reason why.

Erick Allen and his crew were extremely professional, punctual and friendly. From the initial designs to project completion, his crew took time to answer every one of our questions and follow up to ensure our satisfaction. They always showed up on time and cleaned up the work area at the end of the day. The unit is beautiful and functional. Erick listened and understood exactly what we wanted.
