It was supposed to take 6 weeks, but it took 5 months. We have a tiny kitchen and they were supposed to put new counter tops, install tile flooring, cabinets and install appliances. They updated the electrical outlet and installed a separate shut off valve for the gas appliances. It was bad. Apparently they were supposed to put smoke detectors in all our bedrooms, the inspector said it was their job to do when they came out to inspect. They were nice people, they have a show room and do nice diagrams on the computer and you think they really know their stuff. They are diamond certified, but I found out that diamond certification doesn't always mean anything. My husband thinks it looks fine and if you didn't know the little issues we had you would probably think it looks great. There were things they didn't do right and I know they are there so it bugs me. I noticed a cabinet was crooked and they said it was because my wall was crooked. Well, a good contractor knows how to correct something like that. I'm not saying they were bad, as far as dealing with the people they were very nice. I think the owner was very embarrassed by the whole thing. Last time I went in there I don't think he even wanted to look at me. The sub-contractors were all great, it was his employees that did such a bad job. It was a lack of communication between the sales people who came in and took the measurements and the carpenters that came in to install the cabinets. The finishing work was very well done. With the cabinets, we had one missing then they ordered it and it was the wrong size. They were very careless, the carpenters scraped a couple of the cabinets when they put the doors on. They put a knob on the draw and didn't center it, it was off by an inch. They filled in the hole and wanted to just reposition it, but I told them that was not acceptable. They had to replace the cabinet doors, too. The carelessness was where it all fell apart. When they put the base cabinets in and installed them wrong. There was a note that they were supposed to call the office, but they didn't. I felt like they were great as far as selling the product and hooking you. They asked for quite a bit more than 30% up front before they even started. It was like once you signed your name to the dotted line then they have you. They mis-measured the pantry so the frame was done incorrectly so when the installer came out he started digging into the sheet rock and I told him that wasn't acceptable. There was an issue with the clearance during some of the installation. It was really frustrating and it was one thing after another and mainly involving the cabinets. I thought about calling the diamond certified people and putting a report in with them. A lot of people said we paid a lot for the kitchen for what we got, but I didn't get any other estimates. In the end they were very nice to us. They gave us a knife set with the kitchen.

The sales guy was very good and very helpful in advising good choices versus bad-he especially helped solve some design problems. And the refacing job was of superb quality-they are clearly better refacers than other firms I interviewed. Moreover, they replaced a number of the cabinets and drawers with differently configured cabinets and drawers and it all turned out perfectly. The custom work on the island was clearly a little more of a challenge for them, and the quality is probably not quite as high as if I had hired a full custom outfit, but the quality is good and the price would have been at least another $15K higher if I had hired the custom outfit I interviewed. The kitchen and dining room floor turned out very nice. In the bathroom, again the refacing and counter work was excellent. The floor didn't come out quite the right color, but Mr. Keane readily acknowledged it and worked to fix it. We had had most of the work done while we were out of the country, and so there were a few things that needed fixing when we returned, and Mr. Keane was very responsive to these requests and got folks out to fix the issues right away-all were fixed. The job was estimated to be 6-8 weeks and it took a little longer (a few days), but that was OK because we we said we didn't care if it took a little longer as long as it was done when we returned, and they did meet that deadline. The only real issue I had was that the supervisor on the job was not communicative, which was more of a problem since we were trying to supervise the job from abroad-never made any of the calls we had scheduled. But the office did email me pictures most every week and report on progress by email. And Mr. Keane took over at the end of the job to ensure everything was completed satisfactorily. He was very responsive and helpful.
Description of Work: Full kitchen remodel, one bath remodel (partial), and floor refinishing. In the kitchen, had all the cabinets refaced, the island area redesigned (custom work), the counters replaced with granite, all appliances replaced, and tile floor replaced with hardwood floor (connecting to and matching with dining room floor). In bath, had cabinets refaced and countertop replaced with marble. Had tile floor replaced with hardwood.

They took way long than expected, a five week project took four months. It was Mr. Keane's responsibility to make sure the work was done correctly. They were making mistake after mistake. Often times it was the same mistake made twice. The granite portion of the project was not well organized, they did not follow instruction correctly, it was done by a sub contractor, they ran out of granite and could not complete the kitchen. They did sloppy work, there are seams were there should not be a seams. He was unapologetic for his mistakes, and his sub contractors mistakes. I feel like all he wanted was his money.
Description of Work: I hired them to remodel my kitchen.
