Description of Work: He took the cover off of the washing machine. He looked around, then he tried to wiggle a couple of things inside. He told me the problem was that I needed to think differently about each cycle on the machine. Instead of using each cycle for what the cycle states use each cycle as if each cycle were weight guidelines for example a very very light load use the delicate cycle, wash jeans or blankets, don't wash too many pairs at once, same for towels, and blankets shouldn't be too large or too heavy. |Sounded suspect to me. But that is how I use my washer now. |The original problem was that the tub of the front-loader at certain points of the cycle would violently slam at the door and then slam to the back the same way and it would do this over and over until it passed a certain point and settled down. Then all over again when it got to it's next "spot."I pressed against the door during these violent parts and it was "slamming" into the door, pushing it out somewhat.

The technician arrived on schedule to look at my Maytag dryer, which was making a loud squeaking noise. I had some wet towels in it so he could hear what was happening. I then removed the towels to the washer so he could work on the dryer. The machine is probably about 20 years old, so he wasn't sure at first how to open it. My son was there and remembered that the opening was in the panel under the front door, which you wouldn't be able to see unless you were actually down on the floor looking at it. When he took the front panel off he checked out the inside, and determined that a part needed oiling. After he oiled it, we tried it out and the machine performed without the squeak. I was very happy that he was able to determine that the problem was simple and didn't need new parts, etc. (at least not yet). The whole process took about 1/2 hour. The technician was polite. I will definitely call Bay Appliance Repair next time I need service on any of my appliances.

I called them first thing in the am and they were able to book me day of. i had a window of 1-4 and he called ahead of time to say he was going to be about 20 minutes out. He showed up around 1:45 and was at my house till a little after 2:15. After describing the 28 minute issue he poked around. Called his other technician and was able to diagnose my issue with the cold water pressure and its hose. He rearranged the hose in the back and now it works great! Wonderful demeanor and offered other tips on the machine. Would use them again in a heartbeat.

This was for a [simple] belt replacement on a Bosch dryer belt. The repair personnel were very 'down-to-business' and efficient. Initial visit was about 20 minutes to verify part needed etc... Received a call the next day with the cost of the part — I asked that it be expedited (5-7 day transit time was too much for me). It still ended up taking 5-7 days due to an ordering problem. On the second visit, the workers showed up but hadn't been given the part (and it wasn't noted on their work order). The came back a few hours later with the part — once the dryer had been disassembled, it was discovered that the wrong part had been delivered/ordered (not sure of who made the mistake). They reassembled the machine and had the part re-ordered. The correct part was ordered and the repair was completed quickly. I was not charged for parts or shipping (but charged for labor). While I can't place all the responsibility on Bay for this little fiasco (I'm sure that some of it had to do with the part availability and the supplier — I think I'll start reselling Bosch parts in the Bay Area), and the workers who completed the work were efficient and knowledgeable, it did end up being a pretty 'blah' experience. I'm sure it doesn't happen all the time with these guys, but what I thought to be a simple repair ended up taking a fair amount of my time and energy.
Description of Work: Replacement of Bosch dryer belt.

My 10 year GE Profile refrigerator started to make loud noises and then stopped working. I called BAR and Alex was dispatched to my house the next day. He called first and arrived 10 minutes early. He questioned me about what had happened. He and his assistant took some of the paneling off the freezer, and he told me he thought the draining mechanism was blocked by ice. He advised me to remove everything from the refrigerator and freezer and let the unit defrost overnight. This is a self-defrosting freezer, but apparently there was ice build up in the area that drains during the self-defrosting. He told me if that didn't work he would order me a new fan for the unit. In fact, that was the problem. BAR could have made money by telling me I needed the new fan. They didn't do that, and it speaks to the ethics of the company. I would recommend them for your repairs.
Description of Work: The technician came to my house, removed a panel in the freezer and thought the problem was a simple one which was remedied by defrosting the unit.

I called and spoke with them about the problem, making sure it was an appliance problem not a plumbing problem. They have a diagnostic fee of $55, which was applied to the price of any repair. The technician was prompt for our appointment. He explained that the dishwasher was fine, but that the valve was missing a piece. He was really nice and explained everything. He replaced the whole valve, and was very accommodating about the whole process. He even double-checked the drainage under the sink, after he was done to make sure it was working correctly.
Description of Work: The outlet valve on the sink was spewing water when we ran the dishwasher.

I called for an apt and got a window of 10-1. Otto showed up promptly at 10, which was great because I didn't have to wait around all day. He was pretty honest about the machine costing more to repair with the bearing plus the labor. I was better off buying a new washer. Originally, I had called Sears because the washer is a Kenmore, but they couldn't come out till 7 days later! YIKES! I called Bay Appliance Tuesday morning and they were able to come out the next day. Awesome. I would use them again if any other appliance acts up.

The only slight issue may have had more to do with a language barrier. I had one of the techs, after changing out our refrigerator's controller board fixing the original issue, tell us that the problem with our ice maker was that it was confused! Now that was confusing to me! It took a bit to get to the bottom of the remark, which was that the ice maker needed to be replaced.

This is the third time that I have used Bay Appliance, and I have been pleased every time. This time, I needed help with both my oven and my dryer. Alex, the repairman, called me right at the beginning of my wait window to tell me that he would be here within 15 minutes. He arrived as reported and fixed both my oven and dryer within the hour, in addition to doing a minor tweek on my dishwasher. I love this guy. I always feel that I am getting a straight answer.

1st visit was accomplished and parts ordered. I was not there.Daughter was on vacation with her family so I told her I would attend 2nd visit and let the repair guys in.The appointment was 11:00 am to 3:00 pm. They showed up at 2:45 pm.Two guys show up in a standard passenger car. They wore t-shirts and jeans. Their tools: a small plastic box of sockets and a very small battery operated nut runner. That's it! I swear to God that I've seen tools like this at K-Mart.They were Russian and spoke very little English. I am a very handy guy. I was a professional mechanic in my youth and retired from a 30 year career in IT about 10 years ago. I watched these guys all the time they were there. They didn't have a clue as to what they were doing. They took the dryer apart. Dropped screws that they couldn't retrieve. Jabbered a lot in Russian. The one guy kept walking around talking on his cell phone. They indicated the the belts were different lengths. I checked and they weren't. They mumbled something about wrong parts and left.No paperwork. No nothing. If this is the kind of repair people and quality of work that this company does; regardless of your knowledge base, you would stand a better chance of success if you tried to fix it yourself. You couldn't possibly know less than those two guys. If your warranty company hires these kind of companies then you don't have a warranty. I called my daughter after they left and advised her to call the warranty company and request that they dispatch a certified Whirlpool repair company or replace the dryer.

It was $65 for them to come out and then they credited it again the cost of the repair. The value of the stove, once it was repaired, went up to about $1,400 because it was vintage. We would use them again.
Description of Work: We used Bay Appliance Repair to repair our stove. We had smelled gas from our stove so we called the gas company and it turned out we had a gas leak on the stove and some valves needed to be repaired. We have an old vintage stove from the 1950's. Understanding whether or not it was worth fixing was a big part of the issue.

Gene called right at the start of my wait window to report that he would be arriving with in 15 minutes. When he got here, he told me that he wanted to try just cleaning out the interior workings to get it functioning again, in the hope that I could avoid a new motor. It worked great! I have used them for about 20 years. I have never had a problem. I always call them first when I have a problem. Usually the problem is something we have done. They are right on time. They fix it the first time. Everything is fine. I have nothing bad to say about them. We spent about $150. Either my son or my husband gave the check. The price was fair. They fixed everything. I have never had an emergency. I get an appointment when I call them. Sometimes it is according to my schedule; when I am going to be at home. They come when they say they will come; it is usually quick. They know what they are doing. They give a window of time and they come in within that period of time. They are professional. I have been using them and I will use them again.

Called Bay Appliance Repair, The came out within 4 hours, just when they said they would. Evaluation and fix took 10 minutes. Gene was great, Didn't even want to charge fro the visit. Very personable and professional. REally knew the ASKO, which is not a common brand.
Description of Work: ASKO Dryer had stopped working. Factor service was called, came out after two weeks, and replaced a part, then dryer tumbler would not work. Rep spent three hours, then left saying there was nothing else he could do. Left us high and dry. I callled a couple of repair companies to compare prices (I already know that the water pump was leaking) and Bay Appliance was the second from the most expensive. I decided to use them because they work on Saturdays. The person on the phone quoted a price of $65 to determine the problem, that the water pump is about $50 and $95 for labor ($65 would be applied to the labor, if I used them). Alex came by about 20 minutes early (calling first) and confirmed the problem, called for the part and said the part would be $175 + tax and labor would be $125, about $325 total. Apparently the pump is only sold with the motor and so costs more. He also tried to convince me to buy a new washer but I wanted to repair it, instead. We talked about the higher cost and rather than lose the $65 I had already invested in him, I decided to go ahead with the job. He returned 2 weeks later when the part arrived and installed it in 30 minutes. I told him I was not happy about the higher charges than I had expected and after some discussion, he charged me $293 (instead of $325 he had quoted).
