Our dryer stopped working and we called Home Guard. Alpine called us on the holiday to book the appointment. They showed up on time, were extremely professional and fixed the problem. They gave us a referral to get the dryer vent replaced so that our dryer wouldn't break down/overheat again. I recommend them highly.

They charged $110 for a half hour but the real gouge was in the parts. The knob for the stove he replaced is available online for $25 he charged $41.20. The bake ignitor#5303933066 is available for under $20 online he charged $69.25 each. The only part that appears to have been close to properly charged was an ignitor that is $21.50 online I was charged $25. I should have paid approximately $106.50 for parts I was charged $273.95. THe work done did solve the problem but the overbilling was unacceptable.

Basically I chose Alpine Appliance because I talked directly with the man who would be doing the repairs. This was unlike Sears and several other phone calls the person I spoke with did not know anything about stoves and the repair could not be done immediately because they would send out someone for an estimate first, which would cost $50-100. I spoke with Ben who was knowledgeable and friendly and willing to order the part on a Saturday. Unfortunately I had misread the model number, the part would not fit in the first visit and I was charged $100 or so for the first visit. It was my fault but I was left with the impression after talking with Ben the part was no longer available and I did not know what was going to happen. I had given up and was shopping for new stoves when I got a call the next week from AA that they found and ordered the correct part. The part and installation was then done quickly in the second visit and was rather expensive, maybe $300. I surprised and disappointed to find the initial visit would be an extra charge. Maybe I am wrong, but I got the feeling that I was taken advantage of and if I had been more assertive or had been a man, the bill would have been less. I would say that after I misread the model number the communication was poor and it was unclear to me if I was still going to be helped.

He was actually really cool and diagnosed another problem that was on the way. It was like a fly wheel that was making a noise which meant it was about to go. He told me that it was so expensive to replace that once it does go this should be the last service I get before I get a new one. He was really honest and just recommended I don't get any more repairs on it. He showed up on time and was cheap.

The technician was very patient and knowledgeable, he repaired the problem and took time to explain how to care for the appliance going forward.

Snce it was going to be over $100 plus labor, I decided to buy a new refrigerator and notified that I would like to cancel the repair. They had no problem and said that they would just keep it in the truck for future customers. They were very nice and I would certainly recommend them and use them again.

They are great. They are the only ones we use for our appliance repair.
