Since I needed to completely empty my parents New Jersey home of 66 years, I chose to send some of the furniture and odds and ends to my home in Calif.. In looking for a moving company, I was overwhelmed with the negative stories and then harassed by the few companies I called to inquire about. I was not expecting a positive experience. While in NJ, I contacted a friend of my brother who owned a small moving company. That company then contracted with Arpin for long distance moves. The Arpin Van Lines that picked up my things was out of Rhode Island-Not SF but this website only lets me write about this branch of Arpin. The company was unbelievable. They called when they were about to pick up my things from the NJ mover, set a date for delivery, called again to tell me the time the delivery would be the next day and then the truck arrived 10 minutes early. The driver/deliverer was fabulous, carrying my parents precious things as if they were a newborn baby. He would not let me touch anything, he put everything in its place. Not one thing was damaged, broken, harmed by the move. Not even a huge swan carved by my father that needed a dishpak for moving. I want you all to know, using a moving company can be a very positive experience. The price was 1/3 less than the other companies I contacted via the net and phone. But the service was worth much more than I paid. To be honest, this is not about the California branch of Arpin but I trust they are very credible also.
