When I was getting the system designed I lived alone in my house, I knew that there was a high likelihood that more people would be living in the house with me in the future, so I was very clear that I would need a larger powered system in the future. I asked and was assured that the system could be expanded if there was a need. I asked 3 times on 3 separate occasions and each time was assured it would be no problem. The system they put in is so small that we still have solar people coming by to sell us solar because you can't see it! The system is much smaller that systems installed by other companies on the same size houses in the neighborhood The system is supposed to put out 2.3 Kilowatts/hr but typically on a sunny day puts out less than 2 kilowatts/hr. When I inquired about adding panels in 2914, I was told that it was not possible to expand the system, even though their own literature says that adding panels is done on a case by case basis One of their own salespeople came to the door to sell us solar and when I informed him of my problem, he said if I owned the system instead of leasing it that they would expand the system but because I am leasing it they have no incentive to expand the system. If you see these people at Costco just keep walking. They lie, cheat and don't stand behind their product. If I could give them a worse grade than F I would

The installation team was very professional and their customer service is very good except for two areas. They forgot to submit the paper work to PG&E so we were delayed two weeks in giving our solar panel turned on. They also promised me my FICO score, which later they said they do not get a specific score, just a range. It was a good work as far as the work was done. They'll maintain it for 20 years and they guaranteed annual output. I would have given them an A, except for the two problems.
Description of Work: We had solar install with REC Solar and they were very good. They were bought out by SunRun already.

Spencer came out to present the system to us. He went over the advantages of solar power, their calculation for our use/requirements, and answered all my questions. We previously looked into a solar PPA and decided buying a system made a lot more sense for us. Spencer didn't have a big sales pitch, he just presented the facts and let us make a decision. When we decided to go ahead and get the system, they were quick to get us a design and installation plan. After the plans were approved, the installation date followed quickly. The team arrived, went over the conduit run, and got started. In spite of losing guys to a bug going around the office and switching them out... and a flat tire at lunch... the install was finished in three days (on time). The foreman went over operation of the system, answered my questions, and let me know what problems were "common" and how to detect them. All of this was very easy to understand and simple - operating the system is so easy... I wish we'd done this on our last house! He had the system on and it was cranking out power. The system passed inspection the next day - REC had guys on-site to meet the building inspector. I didn't even need to be home. PG&E switched out the meter in about two weeks and we can see the net metering on our online account. Our system is pushing quite a bit of power back on to the grid and I'm confident we'll have enough to keep us in the low tiers during winter and summer. If we ever need to add on, move and need another system, etc. I wouldn't hesitate to call REC.

After searching out companies for a solar installation on Angie's list, I called and set up an appointment with a representative of R.E.C. Solar. He came to our house and met with us, and very thoroughly went over the ins and outs of solar power, the financing and payment options, leasing vs. buying, and the value added to property value. We decided to go with it and that started the process. This was in mid-August. The system was designed and the plans sent to us within a week or two, contracts were signed and the we were told it would be somewhere within six to seven weeks for installation to occur. We had another on-site consult to finalize plans, and then September 30, the crew arrived for what was to be a three-day install. The finished it in 1 1/2 days. The three-man crew Dan, Colby and Hailu were professional, efficient, polite and did a phenomenal job. The installation went very smoothly, and with the exception of having to shut down the the power to install the service panel components, we were not inconvenienced at all. R.E.C. handled all the paperwoak for both PGE and City inspection, and they had the City inspecter out the next day. Now we are waiting on PGE to get their team out to swap out our Smart Meter (a process that PGE says takes 30 days) and then after that, we are energized (you cannot use the solar installation till PGE okays it.... This company was amazing, a real credit to their profession, and worked through all issues regarding installation, financing and payment in a professional manner. I HIGHLY recommend their services without reservation.

Our consultant, Jeff was amazing. He was very patient with us. He worked with us for approximately 6 months before we decided we would go ahead with the solar purchase. REC allowed us to view the contract prior to deciding whether we would purchase. No other solar provider that we spoke with prior to REC would allow us to view. Jeff was able to answer all of our questions with a great satisfaction and comfort level for us. All of the individuals that Jeff sent to the house were professional and we are excited to get solar up and running on our home. Goodbye to the big bills from PG&E.

I want to Share with everyone how excited I am to be an REC Solar customer and what a Pleasant, Worry-Free experience it was working with everyone at REC Solar, Sacramento. Jeff McCosker, Residential Solar Consultant was Fabulous ? he responded to my calls almost instantly and was there to answer/address all my questions and concerns. The Sales process was easy, comfortable, and non-aggressive. When wanting to add a few extra panels Jeff gave me a very Good Deal that I just couldn?t pass up. In the long run I think it was a wise move ? and time will prove it. Shortly after my meeting with Jeff ? I was greeted via email by Joe Concepcion, Branch Mgr. Whenever I had questions about anything ? Joe was there answering them and keeping me updated with processes and upcoming event dates. I could always count on Joe and I didn?t worry at all. My Install Crew, Rocky, Cody, Thomas, & Taylor were here installing the system over two days. This is a GREAT crew ? they are all very Professional, Friendly, and Helpful. Everyone was willing to take time and explain the steps they were taking to install the system and what steps still needed to be completed by City Inspector and Power Company. I was so shocked when they showed up Tuesday in the rain ? I told them to go away and come back the following day ? but they insisted on starting the job. Dedication is the Word that comes to mind when I think about them in the rain on my roof! And they worked with smiles on their faces. The following day I met Steve, Inspector who was here to meet up with the City Inspector. Unfortunately the City Inspector was running behind and wouldn?t be here for another 2hrs. But Steve spoke with the Inspector and made sure everything was in line for his visit. Steve addressed some additional questions/concerns I had and then gave me his card to call in case the Inspector had any issues. During the install I would go outside and walk down to the curb to see the progress being made. The 2nd night when I was leaving my house I made a u-turn in the street to see the finished product from a street view. How pretty they are! You may think I?m crazy to say Pretty ? but it is the $$$$ I see in my pocket when I look at them and that is Very Pretty to me! My Experience with everyone at REC Solar has exceeded all my expectations. If you want Solar - give them a call. They are the BEST Game in town and tell them I sent you. :)

My husband's work was offering reduced cost solar panels through Rec Solar. This may have been the single best experience we've ever had with a contractor!!!! From start to finish, this company was at the top of their game. Our consultant was knowledgeable, and personable. Once we decided to go ahead with the project, the communication was excellent, and they let us know what to expect every step of the way. There were no surprises. I called customer service to get help with turning on the panels, they answered quickly, were helpful and polite, and it turns out the panels had already been turned on. It was really a joy to work with this company, especially after our sub-par spa installation the month(s) before. A+++ to Rec solar!

I actually used angies list and sought out this company to install solar on my home. A representative came to my home went over options; the prices where comparative to other quotes that i had received. However, on my credit check they had said that i did not qualify, and that my 5k down was not good enough for them. I ran my own credit from 3 different resources and there was a huge discrepancy based on what they were saying what my credit was. My credit was actually better than they had led me to believe. (After all i just purchased a house 5 months ago). What rubbed me the wrong way was the customer service that i had received following the denial of my application. I tried calling their finance department to show them proof of what my credit really was, i tried calling the sales representative. Not a single person wanted to give me the time of day or even give me options for solar. I felt because my so-called credit, based on their corrupt credit check system was not to their standards that they purposely were biased towards myself and my fiance. I also am aware that REC solar has a partnership with COSTCO. As a Executive Costco member, i will be calling the customer service department to complain and to let them know of my experience with REC solar. I am currently in talks with a competitor to REC solar, and yes my credit was approved. So I implore people that are in the bushiness of solar, please look at your options. I think there are other companies out there that have better customer service.

Eveything was great. REC was able to install the panels earlier than expected after confirming with us, and it did an excellent job. We haven't had any problems since the installation.
