Description of Work: I received a phone call stating that Stain Masters was having a "Special" and would be in my neighborhood this week. They havve been in business over 27 years and the furniture would be moved. The special was for $19.95 per room. I had five rooms that I wanted cleaned. A truck came on Saturday with a different name on it. I asked the driver if he was a subcontractor with Stain Masters. He said he was...hmmm too young for 27 years of experience...He then proceeded to tell me all of the additional expenses which included a pre treatment and a follow up Teflon protector. Of course, all were recommended for an additional $.25 per square foot. I agreed to having the hallway pre-treated...78 square feet..for $19. I told him I did not want to pay over $100 and he said he was thinking more of $300. I told him to take one room off and pre treat the hallway which he apparently did. However, there were still spots noticed when the carpet dried. My husband had moved most of the furniture and the carpet had been vacuumed prior to their arrival. They were here about 60 minutes. Cleaning with steam only doesn't seem like cleaning....despite the deodorizers and color brighteners. When I called to express my dissatification I was told that I would need to speak to the technican and they would have him call me back. We spoke and I shared my concerns. He said he could come back and reclean the hallway only. I told him I did not want him to come back. My advice is check out a company first and do not respond to phone solicitations. They will promise you the moon. When I called Stain Masters they said they would send the technican out, but I did not want that technican back. I asked for a partial refund which they promptly refused. I felt it was a bait and switch operation. I won't be so ignorant next time.

Description of Work: Had them clean master bedroom and two carpets. Previously done for about half the cost. Do you ladies know how it feels when you take a car to have it repaired and the servicemen go "kaching" in their mind? I think the same thing happened to me (a man) when it came to the initial walk through and quote. The serviceman pulled the corners up of the two carpets and said they would cost more because of the color. I agreed. When my wife found out, she let me know they were synthetic carpets and should not have required special cleaning. I took the measurements and called Stain Masters number for a quote. With the information I provided, I was quoted half the cost. The serviceman called back at my request so that I could ask "why the discrepancy?" He defended the price, saying that stand alone carpets cost X dollars per square foot, and that was the amount we agreed upon. I let it go, knowing I will never use them again.

Description of Work: A man came in with a machine to clean carpets. He filled the machine with hot water a few times and cleaned five rooms and a hall. Small house, 13 square feet. Where there was traffic dirt, he said he couldn't clean it any better, and it looked worse than before.
