Description of Work: My kitchen contractor sent me to L and U to look at their granite. Trying to find someone to help me was like trying to find a needle in a haystack. When I did find someone my attempts to get their attention was ignored. I walked out without looking at any materials and purchased my granite someplace else. When sharing the experience with my contractor he told me it's best to visit them with a contractor instead of own your own to get the best assistance.

Description of Work: Our contractor recommended them. Much of the challenges were with the contractor, but the quality of the higher end cabinets were inconsistent in color and required replacing of doors, drilling holes were no holes were made for shelves, the soft close drawers do not all close evenly, there are cracks where the hardware connects inside some of the drawers. The final look of the kitchen remodel with the beautiful granite from them and the dark wood cabinets is very attractive and we receive many compliments, but it was a challenging experience working with our contractor and the cabinets from L & U.

We bought $1600 worth of granite from L & U Cabinet and Granite. The quality of the granite was not as good as some other local stores, but it was cheaper. In the long run, we decided you get what you pay for and we should have paid more to go elsewhere. The main problem we had, however, was with their granite installer, which L & U recommended. The installer charge $1400 for the labor, so the total granite job came to $3000. Here were our main issues with our granite installer? 1. He said he would bring us out to look at the granite and decide which piece should go where and how it should be oriented before just installing it. He did not. 2. Since then, we have learned that any serious granite fabricator would only cut granite using a wet granite cutting method, not a dry cut in the back of a truck in our driveway. Suffice to say, cutting dry granite in our driveway was very loud and very dusty. 3. The main transition in the middle of our counter was off by at least ½ inch. Before I could take a picture of this issue, the installer quicker ground down the area to try to make it match, but it has been obvious to anyone who has visited our home since that these 2 pieces were not matched up correctly. 4. There is another area by our cooktop that the granite does not match up correctly. It is flush to the wall near one edge and about 1 inch away at the other edge. 5. Near the other edge where the granite protrudes about 1 inch from the wall, the installer just filled it in with white caulking, which we did not notice until he left because it was covered up with blue tape. 6. We have a large, white hutch which also got granite on top and the installers ripped out a piece of trim, which we had to pay $100 to have replaced. 7. After the $1400 labor only charge from our granite installer (who we thought did a pretty poor job), he actually had the nerve to hint that he wanted a tip. In addition, he said he would seal the granite (which other fabricators do for free), but would charge us an additional $30. In summary, as long as L & U Cabinet and Granite is standing by their granite fabricator, I would not want to use their services. I actually just called L & U Cabinet and Granite today and they were unapologetic and in no way tried to correct the issues we had. I would say if you are a private home owner (and not just a house flipper), I would not recommend L & U Cabinet and Granite.
Description of Work: We bought $1600 worth of granite from them. The installer they recommended charged us another $1400 for the fabrication and installation. The granite wasn't the best quality, but it was their installer (that L & U recommended) that did a very poor job.
