The crew on this job was, honestly, just awful. They would arrive later than agreed upon, every day. They were not careful or respectful of our home or belongings. Items were damaged, our tools, ladder, vacuum, etc. were used and damaged. They stood on furniture instead of using a ladder. They would move to parts of the house other than agreed upon, damaging items that were in the way, even though the areas they were to work in had been cleared of furniture, etc. Unnecessary holes were drilled in wall studs and ceiling/floor joists - for no reason since the wiring was then routed in another area. At one point I started wondering if someone was just going around drilling holes in studs and joists for the fun of it. The redwood joists in my basement ceiling have at least 10 holes drilled through them, and they were not even used to route the wiring! Some are drilled so close to the edge of the joist I actually need to get a structural person out to look at them to make sure the joist is still sound. The first day we came home to a huge mess of drywall dust and plaster debris all over our living room and found holes drilled through our hardwood floor where they "missed" the wall when drilling up from under the house - TWICE! No note about the damaged floor was left, nothing. A few outlets were moved from the agreed upon location with no communication as to why. Throughout the job, we always had to call and ask why something was changed or how something was damaged, no explanation was ever left or offered unless we sought it out. The single biggest screw up on their part was that the crew stood on top of our 1920's furnace and duct-work while working, damaging the furnace and breaking the ducts. The asbestos ducts! Prior to any work starting in the house, I personally had a long and very pointed discussion with John and his crew about the furnace and duct work. I very specifically told them to use extreme caution around the duct-work since it is asbestos and that the furnace was original and difficult to repair. The lack of care used around the duct-work and furnace was simply astounding. The ducts were crushed and broken off from the top of the furnace and the asbestos insulation was torn and ripped off in several locations! The dryer vent line was crushed and disconnected, which I discovered on my own, the crew said nothing about this. The dryer outlet was done in the first two weeks, I found the damage at the end of the job, so the dryer vent line was in use and disconnected for at least 2 weeks. Overall, the electrical work itself is good, it was the process that was painful. Despite repeated requests, conversations, meetings, etc., the crew did not listen and was just not managed well. The work also took approx. 2 weeks longer than planned, and toward the end of the job the crew would still be at our home working until 6 - 7pm at night, clearly trying to make up time. John did absolutely step up, and reimbursed us the estimated cost to repair the furnace, duct-work and other items in the house. However, had basic care and consideration been used, none of this repair work would have been needed.
Description of Work: Replacement of all existing knob and tube wiring in house and install of new fixtures and additional outlets. Replacement of all electrical wiring and panel in garage plus install of additional outlets.

Response from JR WILTON ELECTRIC
I'm truly sorry the customer is unhappy with the crew work on this job. There were mistakes made by the crew and I took-off payment for them to be corrected as the customer & I agreed. The job as a whole was completed as agreed. I explained carefully & fully that holes would be necessary as needed and this customer, although quite intelligent, didn't seem to understand. Honestly, my hand-holding abilities were stretched to the limit here. This was definitely not our best job...nor our worst. The customer seems to expect perfection. That's really too bad.
