He comes over weekly. We had a sprinkler problem that he took care of. My wife had left a message for him to do some extra planting work. She didn’t get a callback right away and his daughter called to say that he was out of town and that he would get back to us. My wife was very impressed with this. His price was very competitive compared to another person. Jose G. Alvarez General Gardening is just excellent.

He came over right on time, he and his workers did a very professional job of carefully digging up the back yard (there were things like cement under the soil from the swimming pool supports) and getting rid of the unnecessary cement. Once they had broken up the soil he went over it with a roto tiller. He had the sod (2 pallats) delivered, which cost $1200 by itself. They put the sprinker system extensions in and then put the sod in, since there was some sod left over, I had them put it in another part of the back yard which they did for a little extra. Overall it was the best experience I have had with people off Angies list.

I contacted Jose and asked for an estimate. He came by on a Saturday and provided me with an estimate that did not include the cost of the trees or the mulch, but that did include his picking up the trees to be planted. When we arranged for the work to be done, he came out on time, got the job done very quickly, and also did a great job trimming the hedge bushes we have along the side of our house (an unexpected bonus). He and his helpers took away the bushes and left the area looking neat and tidy.

Mr. Alvarez and his crew arrived on time on the day we had agreed on. What was remarkable was that they dug trenches around an existing garden! We didn't loose too many plants, which was amazing! They all worked very hard even in the 104 degree heat! FYI - He did request a $500 deposit for supplies. He does not offer receipts, so it can be a bit nerving. I read in another review that he asked for the same amount and he had no problems. After the job was done he and his crew cleaned up my yard and left it better than before! They were awesome! My neighbors are asking for his phone number for future yard work. Because they went above and beyond what I would have expected we tipped him $250. He has lots of experience with sprinklers and had done things that I did not think was possible. He is a modest man and very attentive to detail. BTW - Because of the harsh heat we provided the crew with a cooler full of ice, Gaterade and additional water. They were surprised by our gesture and very grateful.

The work was done while I was away from home. Completely cleaned my back patio area to my liking.

Mr. Alvarez showed up on time, told me when he would return to do the work. The work was completed as requested. What impressed me is that he scheduled a time to return after the work had been completed to make sure I was satisfied. I am now trying this company out for regular yard service.

I hired Jose last year. He came and we discussed what I wanted done. He gave me an estimate and stared taking care of my yard. I can't believe that I forgot to write this. He is excellent! He comes weekly.

We were having a party on Saturday and needed the job done immediately. We called him on Tuesday morning, he came out Tuesday afternoon to give me a quote. I accepted, and he came back Wednesday to do the work. He was here on time, and it took him and another man about 4-5 hours. Our yard has not looked this beautiful since we had the landscaping originally installed. Great work, great clean up, quiet, but very nice man. Will use him again.

Very good. My yard looks nice. It could use even more mulch but, they used a truck load of mulch on my flower beds.

It went very well. The yards look healthy, tidy and well cared for. Instead of being an embarrassment, they are now a point of pride. End of job cleanup was immaculate.

Mr. Alvarez came and gave me an estimate within two days of my call. After I accepted his bid, the work was completed within one week. He has an incredible memory and directed his crew (he was among them) to leave every little tree or shrub that I directed him to leave. He is a quiet man, but very professional. I would recommend him and will use him again. He even mowed my front lawn and cleaned that area up for free.

The service is great. He has shown up when he says he will. He is reliable and professional. He cleans up after himself. I would recommend him.

I called Mr. Alvarez to get an estimate on the above work. He set up an appt. quickly and showed up on time. He listened carefully to what I wanted and then two of his employees showed up to do the work. They did a good job - was very impressed with their clean-up.

So far I am very happy. When he did the clean-up, he even repaired sprinkler heads. The price above is for monthly service.

I am very pleased with Mr. Alvarez and his employees. When I made my initial call I spoke to his daughter about scheduling a visit for an estimate. She explained he was out of town, but he would be calling me the next day. We were able to schedule an appointment for the day he called me and we had the big job completed two days later. The work they accomplished in a couple of hours would have taken me at least two weeks (just pruning the bushes on one side of my house typically was a morning's project for me to do). I would recommend them to anyone who needs yard maintenance work done.

I contacted Mr. Alvarez after finding him on Angie's List. He returned my call on Thursday, scheduled a visit on Saturday on his lunch hour to scope the project, scheduled the work for Monday. He said he would arrive between 1:30 and 2:30. He arrived at 2:02. He and his crew began the work about 2:30 and were done by 4:00, including placing the uprooted grass in a backyard location of my choice. Because of my injury, the timing, and his initial response, I declined to obtain multiple bids for this work. I may have been able to shave a few dollars, but he is certainly worth the cost. I am very satisfied I hired him in every respect.

On time, competent, friendly, and reasonably priced work. We're very satisfied. They also cleaned up after finishing.

He returned my call promptly and they came out on a Monday. It took just a day for the cleanup of both yards. I then decided to add some plants to the front yard. He asked me what I wanted and also made some suggestions. He brought the plants and bark with him. He suggested that I go and look at some plants. The area turned out very nice. I now have him as my gardener.

Jose and an assistant arrived when scheduled and got right to work. I think they were here for about four hours. He also provided some weed service while here. I used to hire a professional arborist to prune my trees and I think Jose did every bit as good a job as the arborist used to. The rose bushes look good and I am so pleased not to have to do this job myself. After the work of pruning was done, they hauled away all the cut branches, etc. leaving my yard well trimmed and neat.

He did what he said he was going to do. It was a fair price. He cleaned up afterwards and was very reliable.
