JOSE G ALVAREZ GENERAL GARDENING

I found Jose on Angie's List and called for him to come out and give me an estimate. We had a couple of scheduling issues because I just started a new job. Not his fault at all. He continued to keep in contact and eventually we were able to meet up. He spent a few minutes looking at my yard and asking me about a few of the plants and trees. He gave me the price for the initial clean-up and then what it would be for the weekly service. It sounded very reasonable to me so we went ahead with it. His guys came out that Saturday and did a really amazing job. I couldn't believe how clean the yard looked. They did way more than I ever would've done myself. I am really pleased with the work so far. I gave him one B for professionalism and that'sjust because it was all very casual. We never sat down and wrote an agreement or anything like that. I realized after he left that I wasn't even sure how we would be paying him. Did he take checks or was it cash only? What happens if we aren't here to pay him on the last Saturday of the month? Those kind of things. We have it figured out now though. The crew just left an addressed envelope with an invoice in it on my door. So now I know just to send a check. Problem solved, but it would have been nice if that had been made clear in the beginning. No harm done though.

He was great. They worked hard for five hours. They got right to work and did everything that I asked. The yard looked totally different; it was wonderful. The house had sat vacant. I got two other estimates. When he told me the price I thought I was going to pay a lot more so I was pleased. They were good. I called other places and he was the first to get back to me They came right when they said they would the weekend after I talked to them. I was so impressed that I've hired them to do the monthly maintenance for $80 per month, which sounded like a pretty good deal.

Jose showed up with his crew of 3 additional people. They went to work and totally cleaned out all of the weeds, moved the plants, trimmed plants that needed it, and cleaned up everything. It looks great!!!

Jose provided an estimate and was able to schedule the work for the day I requested. That day he and his crew arrived right on time and got right to work. They did a great job with pruning our shrubs (we have a large yard so there was a lot of pruning to do) and by the time they were done everything looked well manicured and tidy. They even worked in the rain. I was extremely satisfied. They followed my instructions (I'm a little fussy) and did everything the way I wanted it done. I would definitely recommend Jose and his crew.

The owner of Jose G Alvarez General Gardening was great. He was perfectly clean. I have used him for years. He was prompt, thorough and honest.

He started well. He was okay for a little while. Then he started slackening up and getting sloppy. After that he was completely useless. I was paying him on a monthly basis and I was paying him for nothing. He wasn't doing much. He was very sloppy about things. He was not doing it correctly. On wet days he would go with a heavy machine and leave very deep tracks in my lawn from the machine. His price was very high. I have someone else right now that is charging $60.00 for the same service and much better service. Sometimes he answered my questions and other times he didn't. He was here, but if I heard him from my room and he was in the garden, he spent 10 minutes every time and that was all. I would not hire him in the future.

Jose's team has been very reliable and done quality work for a very fair price. I have them coming on a weekly basis and in 3 months of using their service, I have not had any reason to complain to them.

They were great. I have been very satisfied. I had someone before Jose G Alvarez and they would not come consistently. Jose G Alvarez shows up and completes the work, even in inclement weather. They are very reliable.

They were good with most of the work. I live on a hill and the water would not stand for some of the plants because they had not dug a little well for them. I spent $500 on that job. The other things they did were pretty good. I thought they were a little expensive. I thought they did a few things they were not supposed to do. I just had a few qualms about their quality. They were punctual.

He was exceptional. He was hard working and he brought his crew, which included several family members. They allowed me to be out there with them because I had the plans drawn up. I had bought the plants. He was conscientious, flexible and skilled. He was excellent.

We engaged Jose Alvarez to get our yards in shape following the winter hiatus of our previous gardner who did not return calls when we wanted to get the yard work restarted once the grass had started growing again. The back yard especially looked more like a meadow rather than a lawn and all of the bushes had become very overgrown. Jose and his co-workers got the yards back in shape in less than four hours. We have used his services on a weekly basis since then.

Always punctual. Always professional. Mr. Alvarez often here to do the work himself. Great deal for the money.

They are prompt and very good. They are very friendly.

I have employed Mr. Alvarez many times and find his work satisfactory. This time, the top and sides of a couple of bushes were uneven or not quite squared off. Other than that, the work was well done.

Jose has been doing our yard service for about 2 years. They never miss a week and they always do a great job!

Mr. Alvarez came early on the day we agreed with some workers. They worked quickly and efficiently and I am very pleased with the finished product. My back yard looks lovely for the first time since I've moved here. While tending to the sprinklers in front, he cleaned up my front yard (trimmed the grass by the fence, weeded the front plants by the sidewalk, removed the leaves that had blown into a back corner over the spring). It was a most pleasant surprise. My neighbor saw his work last year and hired him to come do work for him and when she saw him last week she immediately came out to say hello and let him know how much she appreciates her new back yard as well. I would hire Mr. Alvarez for any and all landscaping work and will call him for some tree pruning in a few months time.

He was professional and prompt but they never returned the quote to follow.

I called several times and left messages. I never had a call back, no response at all. The services were never performed. Very unreliable.

He fixed some broken sprinklers and laid down a whole new sprinkler line. Not underground but just above the ground. So it was not a big job. It was a really quick job. I liked him. In fact, my neighbor was so impressed after she saw him working in my yard that she called him. I would have him back to do any kind of landscaping. Now, I have spent all my money on my garage.

The price/work was good initially, but he did not fulfill all his duties. This was disappointing.

His team arrived on the agreed day and did a wonderful job. My yard hasn't looked so tidy in the 16 years I've lived here. I am hiring Mr. Alvarez to do my yard work regularly so his team can keep the invasive orange trumpet vine under control among other things. I was very satisfied.

This man is FABULOUS! Professional - really knows what he is doing. I can't believe how good my yard looks. I wish I had called him 2 years ago

They were responsive and came out quickly. Their pricing was reasonable as well. They broke some of the lighting systems but overall, they did a good job. They completed the work quickly and cleaned up well after themselves.

Contacted Jose on Saturday 10/17. He returned my call that p.m. and was at my house within the hour with an estimate. Highly recommended by the members from Angie's List I went with Jose and did not get any other estimates. He stated he would come on Wednesday 10/21 at 8:30 a.m. and was here by 8:05 a.m. He had to charge me extra because I decided to remove some plants and transplant some other plants when he arrived. I had a wonderful experience with Jose and my front and back yard looks great and makes me feel great when I look at it! I would highly recommend Jose and by the way I hired him to do my weekly lawn and yard maintenance too.
