They were absolutely phenomenal and came in with 5 or 6 people. They worked from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. and were out of here in 4 days. During the course of the job there were some changes we wanted to make and they were very responsive and did them immediately.

I made an appointment with Empire based on their commercial on TV. However before I called them I also reviewed Angie's List. Angie's List did not have many good things to say about Empire but because I had a bad experience with a competitor of Empire's and Angie's list has nothing but rave reviews about them, I decided to call Empire. I didn't go back an write a review about the competitor because I wasn't a member of Angie's List when that happened. Enough said I went on line and made an appointment for the Empire Sales person to visit my home which he did on May 18. After measuring and deciding on product I was offered to have the project completed on May 19, which I accepted.
The craftsman arrived on time and began work immedialtely. He worked non-stop for 7 hours and the project was complete. This man was the most professional, courteous, knowledgeable and hardworking craftsman I have ever seen. I would not hesitate to hire him or Empire again. The floor looks and feels great and I am one happy customer. I am grateful I didn't believe everything I read.

As I said earlier, we have retained an attorney, which was done after my many calls to Empire Today seemed to go unheeded. I was referred to several people that kept insisiting that they wanted to come in to my home yet another time to install, and were not receptive to returning my money, and repairing the damages their workers caused. I was more than cooperative, and allowed them to return many times to make things right, and I was not going to deal with them again. I have obtained bids to do the repairs from licensed businesses, as well as tear out the floor and replace with new lamiante, and my attorney is now handling the negotiations. The BBB that handled this case is in the state of Illinois,and unlike California, they charge to mediate cases on behalf of the consumer. As I had retained an attorney now, I was not prepared to pay them several hundred dollars to mediate, so the case was closed.

A rep came out for an estimate to our home in Davis, CA. Gave us a price to discuss...needed to see if he could swing it. I called twice and asked for a written estimate...heard nothing. No written estimate, no call, nothing. I emailed the and quot;contact usand quot; link on their website, twice. Both times I was emailed and told I would be contacted within 3 days. I still have received no response.

I understand folks are busy, but a return call, anything, would have been appreciated. Even if it is to tell us he can't swing the price. We are not unreasonable people.

Empires Customer Service sucks. Too bad, because we really like the rep that came out, but his follow up is non-existant. Now Lumber Liquidators is going to get our business instead.

After repeated complaints, I received a phone call from a manager. He wasn't interested in talking to us about keeping service. He apologized for his company not getting back to us. That was it. Didn't try to keep us as customers....nothing.

We ended up paying $2k more for the floors we wanted, which we would have paid with Empire, if they had bothered to work with us.

Interestlying enough....I can't find my review online on Angie's List....only when I look for my reviews, otherwise, it doesn't pop up.

We called and they called us the next day and then came out the day after that. The price is in the middle, we have some lower and higher. The biggest problem is they can't match the color that I want. The first time we had something close, but not quite what I needed. They have a warehouse so they can installed quickly, but if they don't have the color you want then it doesn't matter. They don't break down the bid for how much the carpet is, installation, moving furniture, removing carpet, etc. They just give us one lump bid. A CPA told us that if the carpet is attached to the house then there is no sales tax on it. They don't give you a price per square yard, it's just one big price. You can't decide how much money you'll save if you move the furniture yourself, change the pad, etc. They don't have a large variety of colors, but the people were fine.

I was not pleased with the service provided by Empire. When the carpet arrived, they rolled it out on the street to make the cuts. They were supposed to arrive next day and did not. While they were there they were often on their cell phones and not paying attention to the job.
