EDDIE MULLINS LANDSCAPING

We are very pleased with the overall result. The job that Eddie provided the original quote for was quite different than the one that he ended up doing for that. As we talked it through with him and the work got going, the job expanded quite a bit and got significantly more complicated and time-consuming, and he was very accommodating about that. He gave advice when asked for or appropriate, and was not the sort to try to up-sell you or get you to do anything that you didn't need to do or want to do on your own; he would counsel against some ideas if he really thought they weren't the best, but he seemed willing to defer to customer choice in the end, regardless. His prices were very competitive, and he was pretty laid back about having a detailed contract beforehand. He did seem a bit overextended and/or strapped for labor resources, which led to delays in the project that were not insignificant, but I know that he was concurrently experiencing some work vehicle issues that were beyond his control and that impacted all his jobs. I've also heard that these kind of delays are pretty standard for such contractors (this is our only experience of this sort so far), and we weren't in any particular hurry, so it didn't really bother us. I did almost give them a B for professionalism, as there were times at the beginning of the project when workers didn't show up until several hours past the stated schedule and we were not contacted to be informed of this (we just had to wait and see or call Eddie ourselves); there was even one scheduled Friday that no one showed up at all, and as we didn't attempt contact ourselves or demand an explanation, we never did get one. I thought that was a bit wrong. However, since all our other interactions went so well, as did the work, I feel like it's water under the bridge. We will likely be contacting them again when we're ready to overhaul our front yard!

It was a joke trying to get him, out here. He did not return call. He was put in a patio and part of the contract was to put the spiracle system that he had move into realign in and it doesn’t keep the yard wet and we have to use a hose. He would not use call back.

Eddie and his crew did an excellent job. They asked questions to make sure they understood what we wanted and executed the work to our satisfaction. One sprinkler was broken during the work and they repaired it quickly. The work site was left completely clean and extra materials were placed where we wanted them. We will definitely be hiring them again for other landscaping work. Thanks, Eddie!

Eddie was a bit backed up due to rain, but when he did get started, he listened and understood what it was we wanted, none of which was a problem for him. He gave an estimate and that was what he charged. Eddie was just plain super to work with. He was flexible and knowledgeable when needed, totally had the attitude of, "Whatever you want, we'll do it." Then he did. This landscaping was the final step in a several year project of stone work on the house, painting and then finally landscaping. It's now the best looking house in the neighborhood! His last words were, "If you have any questions or problems, just call." Thank you, Eddie and team! We couldn't be happier.

I cannot recommend Eddie and his crew more highly. I have had some nightmare experiences over the years with various contractors, but Eddie Mullins Landscaping restored my faith in human nature. Every aspect of this job was done professionally and well.

He was a nice guy and very personable. When I asked about an estimate he said $10K, that's without a written proposal of the scope of work. He would do a good job I think if you know exactly what you want but is limited on design suggestions. I have eliminated him from my list of prospective contractors.

Removed all grass and previous scrubs. Relandscaped to a "dry scape." Installed new irrigation system and lighting. | |Eddie and his crew were always consistently here as scheduled and were very professional and pleasant. They worked very hard to complete the job as discussed. Eddie worked with us and gave us excellent ideas to have a successful and attractive project. We are extremely pleased with the outcome. | |We got several bids and Eddie's price was very, very good. He really knows the landscape business!

Eddie was punctual and professional. He completed the work in the stated time frame. He was easy to deal with and explained exactly what he was going to do before he started the project.

Eddie and team did a fantastic job!! WOW! I would hire them again anytime...not only did Eddie tell us what/how to kill our old weed invested lawn but coached us on what we should do and was honest to say what we should not do. On the day of the new sod install, Eddie and team came on time and removed the old sod, and found a large layer of old tree roots (from a previous tree that we had removed about a year ago) and had to bring in a tractor to remove all the roots - AT NO ADDITIONAL COST! They checked all sprinklers and fixed sprinklers as needed and installed our new sod. It looks fantastic! Eddie took the time to instruct us on how to care for our new lawn and to feel free to call him with any questions we may have. They cleaned up very very well and left no sign that all the work (that took them the whole day) was done. I highly recommend Eddie for any landscape job! Fantastic!

After Eddie did such a great job on my backyard, we recommended his services to my mom. Her house had an old sprinkler/drip irrigation system that had fallen into disrepair and as a result much of the landscaping was dead. Eddie and his team tore out much of the old landscaping, redid all the sprinklers and drip lines and upgraded everything to be more durable, and relaid the sod and replanted all the beds. He also added a few new beds, including rows of rose trees along the front walk. All of this was accomplished in just a few days. Everything looks great and she is thrilled with the results.

They arrived each day on time and spent most of the day working their tails off. They cleaned up as best they could before they left each day. They also spruced up the rest of our yard by cutting off lots of limbs from the bottom of our redwoods and they look so much cleaner now. In addition, they removed all the redwood bark from the surrounding yard area & replaced with the same ground cover of lava rock. They also removed a red oak which caused another mess in our pool and planted several photinias. Finally, they fixed our worn out drip system. Eddie told us to call him if we have a problem with any of the new plants. You couldn't ask for anyone as professional and thorough as Eddie Mullins. Our yard has gone thru a beautiful transformation. We love it.

This was a total backyard makeover and we are very happy with the end result. Eddie and his guys were always there early and were very careful and thorough. Eddie constantly gave us updates and asked us about final finish choices along the way to make sure everything was just as we wanted it. I had amassed a slightly ridiculous Pinterest board before we started the project, and Eddie was great about figuring out budget-friendly ways to accomplish the overall look we wanted. We are thrilled with the end result and would highly recommend him for any landscaping/hardscaping projects.

We started a paver patio project last year, but we realized we were over our heads for we didn't have the manpower or equipment to finish it. I called several places, and Eddie called me right back. He gave us an estimate of $600 dollars to come and level the area, remove brick work, and install a paver patio. We had all of the materials, and so the estimate was for one day of labor for the day. He arrived on time, and he and his staff went to work. He was friendly and very professional. They completed the project in no time flat. First they removed an old brick border. They dug up the dirt area where the pavers would go, brought in a plate compactor to level the area. Next they placed the pavers, and cut the pavers that needed to complete the project. They dismanteled a metal shed, removed a dead tree, and hauled them both away. We were very impressed with their work. They also replaced any pavers that were cracked. He responded very well to any supervision or comments we had. Very professional. We were so pleased with the work and will plan on using his services again when needed.

He showed up on time and did it in one day. He did a perfect job! He gave me a lot of information and was very helpful and accommodating. For the first month I over watered and let it grow to long which Eddie warned me not to do. Because of this the lawn go a fungus infection. I called Eddie and he came right away and told me what fungicide to put on and how to do it. He also told me other information. I'm very happy with my dealings with Eddie. Mark

They completed nearly all the work within 5 days. The work went smoothly and Eddie stayed on top of what his guys were doing. There were very minor things that I think could have been done a little more neatly and/or clean-up that could have been more thorough, but Eddie's youngest assistant is new and still learning. He is a very nice young man who works very hard. Eddie came back a couple times to finish off some work that he couldn't get to before I left on a 10-day vacation. He was prompt with these visits and did everything that we'd agreed upon. Eddie and his "crew" are personable and honest. I chose him to do the work because of previous reviews on Angie's List and because his bid was 50% lower than two other bids.

Eddie and his crew are great. Having been burned in the past by contractors, we made sure to do our homework. Eddie met with us, listened to what we were thinking we wanted to do, and gave us some suggestions and ideas. He is nice, professional, and easy to work with. We had a deadline as we are hosting a large party and wanted the backyard done. I was concerned it wouldn't happen, but Eddie assured us it would get done. As we have no clue about plants, Eddie met us out at the nursery and walked us through, giving us suggestions and ideas on what to plant where. As with all really good small companies, Eddie is busy. (Good for him!) There were times I left messages for him, but we were always able to connect. Eddie gives 110% to the job he is working on. When it's time for YOUR job, that's what you want.

Eddie and crew did a fantastic job with minimal supervision. They did a couple repair tasks that were not initially done correctly, by me. Eddie is honest, will do as you wish, but will give you options to save you costs. They exceeded our expectations. We will call them to bid our backyard.

I had used Eddie in the past to install a sprinkler system in a rental house and was pleased with the work. I contacted him to look at an older sprinkler system in a house I moved into this past fall. He returned my call and could not set up a time until about a week and half after the day I spoke with him. I was willing to wait because he had done a good job with the previous job. I left work early to get home to meet him, and he never showed up on the scheduled day. I called and left a message asking where he was and he never returned my call and still hasn't. I was very frustrated due to the fact I had waited for him to come out longer than I had wanted and in the end, he never showed up or returned my phone call. As we all know, time is precious and mine was seriously wasted. I will not use his services again.

Eddie and his crew did a wonderful job! They completed the work ahead of schedule and the result exceeded our expectations. Eddie listened to our vision of what we wanted and made it happen for us. He said to call him at any time should we have any questions or concerns. We are very happy with our new front yard! Well done Eddie!

He cleaned up the front area. He put in something to prevent the weeds coming back and they are growing back, so that created some problems. He was very responsive and got to work on time. There was no hassle when he was doing the job. I thought the price sounded fair.

He was genuine, honest, and his price was right. Everything was professional.

Eddie told us the job would take three weeks and he finished right on time and within the written estimate he provided. He brought a small bobcat into our backyard and was able to dig everything up to fix the major drainage issues in the backyard. He replaced all the old drainage, hooked everything up so it ran to the gutter in the front of the house, and connected all of our downspouts to the underground drain as well. In replacing all the drainage, Eddie also re-sloped our yard, so water ran away from the foundation of the house and into the newly installed drains through the backyard. Eddie also did a fabulous job in pouring two patios and walkway connecting the two. He did a wonderful 2-tone stamp, that we love and all of our friends have commented how good it looks. He also replaced the entire backyard sprinkler system, including adding drip lines to the almost 30 plants he planted. He also laid about 1600 sq ft of new sod. We couldn't be happier with the results. Eddie was by far the lowest of 3 bids and his work was of top quality. He showed up when he said he would and he finished on time with keeping in the loop on progress throughout the job. Eddie was up front on his hourly rate for any add on work (which we took him up on for a few items) and did not go over his estimates. I would recommend Eddie to anyone needing minor to major work being done in their yard.

We have had a goldfish pond with a waterfall for 12yrs. The waterfall packed up a few years ago but the fish survived. Many of the rocks had fallen in over time and although there was a full clean out each fall it was beginning to look very neglected. I was so impressed with the work done by Mr. Mullins on our side yard that when he said he liked working on Koi ponds I asked how he would go about giving our pond a makeover. He tried to explain to me what it would look like and even sent pictures by e-mail but I am not very good at visualization, so it was with some trepidation that I gave him the go ahead. We cannot believe the transformation. All rocks were removed, the liner was found to be defective (replacement of the liner was not part of the original plan but Mr. Mullins said he would include a new liner in the price he quoted). The pond was widened and 2 tiers of shelves were fashioned to accommodate plants at various depths. Then the waterfall area was built up with soil that he brought in along with large amounts of rocks and boulders of all sizes. We now have a 5 tier waterfall with a cave for the goldfish. The base of the pond is covered in smooth pebbles of various colors and looks great. We had a trailing Rosemary before ...now we have two the original plant was divided and now we have one on each side. It took 3 days to complete the project. I had no idea when I asked him to perform the renovation that so much both heavy and intricate work would be involved. Everything went exactly as he had said it would. All areas around the pond were cleared and cleaned as part of the job. He told me if I have any problems in the future he will come and deal with them and I believe him. We cannot say enough in his praise. He is the best contractor we have worked with in the past 20 yrs. We were so impressed that we were happy to pay for the liner and that is why the amount paid was more than the price quoted.

Eddie showed up on a Saturday for the estimate so I didn't have to take time off work. Him and his crew worked all three days because all work had to be done by wheel barrow and shovel. He was here by 8 am as he promised so I could leave for work. I had a few questions so it was nice to see Eddie the owner, he had answers and plenty of ideas that we worked into the budget. The first day they removed the old lawn, bushes, a tree and installed the new sprinklers. I had requested the new water saver nozzles and he included them for me. The second day they installed the curbing, plants and drip system, bark in the planters and the fountain in the corner, new sprinkler timer which you could tell was professional grade not some box store garbage. He was planning to install the sod that day but the order got confused so he said he would be out the following morning to finish up. They did a good job cleaning up everyday and even stopped by latter in the day to explain the sprinkler timer. I had the gardener try a few things but hire a contractor it's well worth it.

I e-mailed Mr Mullins on 09/21/2012 (FRI)asking if he would come and give me an estimate for sprinkler repairs in front and back yards, fence repair,clearing, hauling and landscaping a neglected part of our back yard. and advice on our front yard landscaping. I had a reply by the 09/21 evening (FRI). He said he would come by on 09/24 (MON) and give me a call as he left his previous site. He called, came by at the time he said he would. I found him to be a friendly personable young man. I showed him the problem areas ....he fixed one sprinkler but then surprised me by saying that he preferred not to do sprinkler work. I really appreciated that rather than finding myself the recipient of poorly done work. He then went on to review all my other problems, said he could do the work,. My main focus was to cut down on maintenance in the overgrown part of the yard and he really zeroed in on that and gave me various options ,gave me an estimate which I accepted and he gave a tentative date and promised to call as soon as he knew exactly when he would be free. Everything was done as he had said it would be. The work was done quietly,efficiently and on time. I was asked about what I wanted to keep from the yard and nothing was done without consultation. Everything was hauled away and at the end of the day you would never have known the yard had not always looked so pristine. Mr Mullins did the work himself and even though he had a back injury he did not request a postponement. He gave us lots of advice and suggestions for the care of our yard and we are extremely satisfied with the whole operation start to finish. I would highly recommend this company and decided to hire him in the near future to renovate our fish pond.
