Native plant grower - had his crew come out , cap the old popup sprayers and run yards of inline tubing with 18" spacers for the larger area in front; for smaller beds in back ran inline tubing with 12" spacers. As i look back on the work i would have preferred they set the lines in depressions to cut down on having to lay down so much mulch over the top. For this type of job i had to be home to keep a close eye on what was being done soon huge mistakes were made. There were two valves in front (11 and 12) that needed to be split: 1. to carry water from the west side of Z12 under a walkway into Z11 that needed more water during the hot, growing season. The remainder of Z12 will be drier. i will have Eddie's company come out agin to fine tune the inline irrigation so less water will be on the ground in spaces without plants. i would have been more relaxed to have had Eddie onsite a bit more. Because of the long months of rain, i haven't yet had the opportunity to try out the new irrigation.

Project ended up costing more than expected, the terms of the Angie's list offer was a bit misleading. I really didn't receive a discount at all because of the size of the job. The Angie's deal was really only beneficial for small jobs.

The workers missed drip irrigation to a few plants which have now died due to no water to them. This has left some gaps in the plan, will have to see how it goes. Other than that, work was satisfactory. Anxious to see how the plants he choose tolerate the cold weather we are having over the winter. Have received compliments on the looks (before the winter) from people walking by.

First, I felt that I had to wait too much for the work to start. The Angie's deal was purchased in July 2016. I got my final approval from the city in Aug 26 but work did not start until Nov 2. Next, he was difficult to contact. He mainly relies on cell phone and that has not been very reliable as he does not answer or delays your call. In addition, I asked him to furnish me with an invoice with the breakdown in labor versus material costs and he has refused to do so. I have also asked him to add an irrigation controller and he has ignored me. Overall, I feel that he added un-necessary difficulties and barriers to my project.
Description of Work: The contractor was hired to update the landscape on my property to a water-friendly landscape. He was hired to remove the grass and topsoil followed planting new drought resistant plants, adding drip irrigation and mulch.

After waiting couple of weeks to hear from someone, I follow up on this deal via Angie's List messages as I had not gotten a response from the store. My message was responded to within a day or two and an arrangement was made for someone to come out to my house to discuss the deal. I had not had any dealings with a landscaper before so I wasn't sure what I was expected to do prior to our meeting. The business owner, Ed came out to meet with me but seemed a little perplexed because I wasn't sure what I wanted. I also explained I wanted my driveway extended out 10 feet as well. I mentioned I saw his company's pictures on line and was very impressed and asked if he did driveways. I felt a little awkward because Eddie mentioned a couple of times that I wasn't sure what I wanted and just stood there. I asked him did he have any suggestions because I also needed work done in my backyard and showed him the projects that were currently being done such as a revamped Koi Pond; Sunroom addition, etc. and wanted to give my front and back yard not a lavish transformation but a nice one. He mentioned something to the affect that he could give me ideas but then could find out I only wanted to spend $2000 on the project and asked what my budget was. I explained I had $10,000 budgeted for both the front and back yards which he said was "doable". After a little more dialogue and taping off dimensions for the extended driveway, he gave me an estimate for the driveway and then said he could work it within my budget. I asked him can he give me an estimate and I understood him to say that he doesn't do that. We talked a little more on the 'drought landscape' which I realized was a very small area and thought maybe I needed to expand that to twice or three times the size. He recommended rock and boulders along with the plants. I told him I wasn't sure about the plants which he explained there were a couple options to pick. I asked if he could give me suggestions which Eddie recommended I google the plants to figure out which ones I wanted...along with going out the the 'Rock' place off of Folsom to shop which type of rock I would like. Eddie mentioned that after I got the stucco project completed along with the pond I could call him back and we could have a more "intelligent' conversation. I was pretty disappointed in our discussion as I expected a little more enthusiasm and information that would help me. After a bit of contemplation, I am requesting a refund based on my encounter with poor customer service; I don't believe this is going to work out and do not wish to pursue this service at all. It was very clear to me that the owner was not interested nor cared to want my business.

It went very well. They are very busy this time of year, but Eddie was able to get my smaller job done in-between a couple of others. It required digging out approxiately 120 sq. ft of decomposed granite between a sidewalk and an area of grass. They were careful and conscientious. They fixed a sprinkler that had worked loose during the digging and made sure that the system was working properly when they were done. They did a great job. It took about 8-10 hrs over a 2 day period. All the employees were friendly and polite. The cleaned up after themselves and left the area looking a whole lot better than it did before they began!

We bought the deal for 250 square feet for 1499 with a choice one of three options for the plants. When Eddie got there we looked at how much it would cost to do the whole front. This is a corner lot so it's fairly big. The pr ice was quite reasonable for all the work needing done. The plan was to take the original deal and multiply the plants x 3 except for the trees, there would only be two trees planted. They removed the lawn, fixed the sprinkler system to work with drip irrigation, placed three times the plants as offered in the deal plus two trees, ran drip irrigation to all the plants, plus the tree that was already there and the roses and several other bushes that were already there. Placed landscape fabric where ever they took out the lawn and then placed shredded cedar bark down. Looks very nice. It took three days to complete, started on a Thursday, break over the weekend, finished on Monday.. About little over a week later, found one plant dying due to they did not run a drip irrigation to it. Found another dying because the drip irrigation line was to the downside of the plant, not near the roots. I moved that line to near the root and it looks like that plant will survive now since there is now new growth on it. The other plant had no line to move near it so I had to pull the dead plant out. The others have survived well and the place where the plant died will be filled in in a couple years with all the other plants, so no big deal. A little disappointed the landscape fabric was not put where the roses were, I thought it would be but I didn't ask specifically so now weeds from below are coming up through the bark in that area. The rest of the yard is fine. Overall satisfied with most everything except the lack of landscape fabric where the roses are. I've attached a few picture of them working after the lawn was removed and plants placed around for planting and then finished picture of some of the areas.

We met with Eddie in April, and he viewed the site, discussed our concerns and provided an estimate for the work. Access to the back yard is over a raised deck, and we wanted assurances that the deck would be protected. He recommended ramps at both ends and plywood sheets to protect the deck surface. He was booked out about 6 weeks, but his approach and detailed responses impressed us. He was scheduled to start on 6/23 and end no later that 7/1. As it turned out, he was able to start on 6/21 and finish by 6/23. He arrived with his crew promptly at 8AM on 6/21. Several of his crew members unloaded equipment and started to work. Because the space was so tight, after about an hour, he took the rest of his crew to a second work site, and left Brett and Ed to work on our project. What a great team! They clarified what brickwork pattern we wanted. The two of them worked out details and had the dirt out and were leveling the spaces within a couple of hours. Eddie and the rest of the crew returned at the end of the day to see how it was going, and help clean up. On day two, they again arrived on time, delivered the sand and got started hauling it to the back. After confirming that work was progressing and there were no concerns, Eddie again left to the second job, and Brett and Ed started laying and leveling sand, then began resetting the patio. By the end of the day, they told us they should finish on the third day. They arrived on time again and started on the brick pathway first thing. Eddie and the rest of the crew arrived later with additional brick to fill out the remainder of the walkway. It's rare to find a landscaper that delivers as promised! Eddie and his crew really did. They started and finished the job early, were on time each day, were very careful with our yard and deck, and listened to our concerns about how the project looked. They cleaned up at the end of each day meticulously. We got the patio and walkway we envisioned, maybe even better!
Description of Work: Restored back yard brick patio and walkway. We had an old brick patio and brick stepping stone walkway, originally installed 20-25 years ago, that had been broken up and damaged by tree roots and time. The crew removed all the old patio and walkway brick, excavated the dirt and leveled the areas, then added sand, compacted it and reset all the bricks, adding in more bricks to complete the walkway.

On behalf of my clients I hired Eddie Mullins to complete the demolition of an unusable in-ground swimming pool. The work had to be completed per code, properly inspected, approved and most importantly, there had to be no surprises or delays as close of escrow was fast approaching. Mr. Mullens started work on the day promised. Kept me constantly informed of the progress and completed the work ahead of schedule.

The project went very well. I entered into a contract with Eddie on October 1, 2015 with a project start date in mid-November 2015. In calling contractors back in August 2015, I found that there was high demand from people wanting to replace their lawns, and several contractors didn't bother to return calls; Eddie was one of the landscape contractors that did respond (very timely), and he quoted me a fair price. (He was also one of the contractors that did concrete work and could, therefore, do the entire project.) I first heard of Eddie's company after going on a "green garden" tour in Roseville in May 2015; he did my favorite front yard and the homeowners raved about him and his work spoke for itself, so I was pleased that I was able to work with him. He reviewed my design plan, asked good questions and shared some ideas about possible alternatives in a couple of areas, all very helpful. He gave me honest and helpful feedback on a couple of ideas I had, which were not necessarily my best ideas, but always made it clear that he would do what I wanted; in most, cases I realized that his advice was the best way to go. The project started and ended a few days late, but this was due to the weather [rain at last!]) The team did a great job and were respectful and polite. The concrete work was absolutely superb. I had a very specific plant list and did not want substitutions (I worked with a landscape designer who developed my plant list), and Eddie was accommodating and worked with me on getting some plants that were difficult to find at this time of the year. I am very pleased with the end results, my front yard looks beautiful, and I have heard more from my neighbors in the past month than the entire 15 years that I have lived here. I found Eddie to be very responsive from my first contact to the end of the project. I would recommend him to anybody wanting to have this kind of work done at their home. His team is great and so is their finished product.
Description of Work: Removed dead lawn and part of concrete walkway in front yard; poured new concrete steps and pathway and installed water-wise plants and mulch per landscape design plan for front yard; replaced irrigation system in front and back yards with drip irrigation system with inline emitters.

Exceptional. Showed up on time, every time, explained everything to us before it occurred. Cost was not the lowest bid I'd received but I was just really impressed by Eddies demeanor, and professionalism when he came out to complete the bid. The quality of the work on the new driveway and sidewalk was exceptional...looks amazing. Crew was friendly and polite and knowledgeable. Zero surprises... kept us in the loop as far as the timing of various aspects of the project-offered tips on plants and the installation of the drip irrigation...even offered to come back and coach us up as we started the planting of the yard. Got a full tutorial on how drip irrigation worked and samples of the parts and assemblies to do a self install if we wanted. Cannot say enough about how great the completed work was and how easy Eddie and his crew were to work with on this project.

Nervous about the "buy it now" service, but couldn't pass it up. I had just about double the square footage covered in the deal in my small, L-shaped backyard, and was quoted for just under double the cost; which eliminated a big concern right up front (no foot-in-the-door pricing). I was given a decent option for pavers (previewed and selected from a manufacturer's website); I'm not picky, but there seemed to be a basic variety that would work for anyone. Really happy with the look of the stone. Scheduled a time and worked commenced! Very quick turnaround. Waited a while to post a review to see how the pavers would settle in and handle the first of the rains, and they look great! Not a single complaint, got exactly what was advertised in the offer.

After agreeing to pay the $50 after hours consultation fee, Mr. Mullins scheduled, cancelled and rescheduled with me. The last time we were to meet, he had some family business to take care of, and he never got back to me. I have a solid budget and drawn landscaping plans. This would have been a piece of cake for him to take care of. I would not recommend trying to schedule time with him.

Very strange experience, Eddie came out at the appointed time, looked at the job, made notes and measurements, would get back with a estimate, and that is the last I ever heard from him. Tried to contact him on several occasions without success. Hired another contractor and the job is complete. Just an odd way of doing business.
