Curb Appeal

Called me to set up appointment rather than wait for me to contact him. Called on his way to let me know when to expect him. Did all that I asked & came back to finish when I needed to go to store to purchase different lights. Gave me excellent advice on where to go & what to buy. Very friendly and professional. Well worth the money for the two hours of work. I have more things I need done & will definitely use Curb Appeal for those things. I would recommend him to anyone.

I took advantage of a coupon for 2 hours of work for $75. He was very friendly and it was easy to get an appointment. He was willing to do whatever it took to repair the problems. He had to come back a week later to try another tact to fix the dryer vent, however. He didn't charge to come back out and the repair has held up for the past 6 mos.

When Steve evaluated the condition of the post he saw there was a "knot hole" at the very bottom which was embedded in concrete. This had weakened over time and so the upper portion of the post was now moving back and forth on that lower portion. He was unable to use the metal post reinforcer I had provided as the concrete prevented it being hammered into the ground at the corner post. He had to return another day with a metal post he could sink further back from the gate and then nail it to the fence. The fence portion is now sturdier and should be protected from blowing over.

We were moving to a new home, and he helped me get rid of some mattresses from the home. He showed up when he was supposed to and everything went well.

It went very well. I called him to tell him that my ceiling fan had stopped working, that the chain had broken off up in the fan, & that I needed a fan in the warm weather. I told him that I would order one. He advised me on ordering & picking up @ the store & made some calls to stores about that. I ordered & the fan arrived. He came within an hour during rush hour traffic. He took the fan light off, retrieved enough chain to attach more chain to then asked if I wanted the new fan installed or if I wanted to keep this fan. I wanted to save money so I kept the existing fan. He kept everything very tidy. He was professional, friendly, and polite. I liked that he gave me a choice and didn't pressure me to install the fan I had purchased when my was workable. I didn't want to spend money if I didn't have to. He only charged me $20.00. I was very surprised. Great experience.

Steve is very good and I will use him again in the future.

Steve did a terrific job putting in the new burners. They work great. In the past he also has put in a new igniter for my Weber grill. So having him put these new parts in has saved me from having to buy a new grill. The door handle is fixed and the hose hanger was properly installed. I have had Steve either repair, replace or put together many things in my home for the past 16 years. I couldn't do without him!

I purchased an Angie's Deal for 2 hours of handyman service for $85. I called and left a message for Curb Appeal. Two days later I received an email explaining the owner (Steve) was helping his grand daughter with a robotics competition and was out of town. In the email, I was asked to let him know what needed to be completed. I returned the email with a short list of small items to complete, specifically to change out 6 external lights - 2 in the front of the house, 2 in the back of the house, and 2 on the side of the house (side yard and porch). All communication was done via email. When Steve arrived on Saturday morning, my husband and I showed him the lights and where they were supposed to go. He started installing and we left for a quick breakfast. When we got back, he was still working and started engaging me in conversation, which took a bit of time. He was working during the conversation, albeit kind of slowly. He said it would take him longer than the 2 hours I paid for in order to finish the job, and his rate is $45 per hour (so for 2 hours, his rate is $90). I was a little disappointed that the work would take longer than expected, plus I was disappointed that I didn't really get a good deal and I only saved $5 over his normal rate. I ended up having to pay for an additional hour of time. In the end, his work was shoddy. Of the 6 lights that I asked he install, only 1 is actually secure and straight. The others have a lot of play and are not level. In fact, the porch light is so off kilter, that my husband has to get a wood shim to straighten it out and will also have to put silicone around each fixture so that nothing gets behind the fixtures (like rain or bugs). It is not worth it for me to ask him to return to make it right. I will not be using him again, nor will I be recommending him.

I never heard from the company despite many phone calls and emails. I even contacted Angie's List to call them but I never heard from them. Instead, I will use someone else.

Steve, from Curb Appeal gave us a estimate of the labor and material costs to install a new kitchen sink and faucet. We were advised as to where to purchase our share of the materials (sink and faucet) by him. Steve also communicated with the supplier. After the materials arrived we called Steve. Within a week he was able to come and do the work. The job took one day and one morning, which was fine with us. Update on 3/16/13- Steve completed the installation in February, but we found a leak today as we ran the disposal. We were lucky that we were having some bathroom tiling done and one of the workers was able to reinstall the garbage disposal. It was loose! It was never fastened tightly enough with the correct plumbing tools, according to the worker. He used plumbing tools to correct the issue. As a result, we will not be using Steve and Curb Appeal again.

Steve explained everything he did and took pictures to show me. He did an excellent job in my estimation. His price was excellent for the work that was performed! I will definitely use him in the future!

My mother’s age has made her balance unstable while standing and walking. I needed to have safety bars installed in her shower. As a member of Angie’s List, Curb Appeal was recommended for handyman service. I contacted them and Steve Albert returned my call shortly. Steve was very courteous and explained what services he could provide. Steve arrived promptly and worked with my mother to determine the best location for the safety bars for her comfort. He did a great job. Curb Appeal is dependable, punctual and provides high quality work. I highly recommend them and would hire them in the future. Jesse G.

I was worried about scheduling everything for the move, having those thing taken care of the first thing was perfect. He was great on scheduling, on time, and skillful. We will use him again for remaining projects (once we get our heads out of boxes).

Steve is very punctual and personable. He does good work, and is conscientious. My only complaint would be that his fees seem to be a little bit higher than other handymen I've worked with.

Steve came in to install hardware on the kitchen cabinet doors. It tooks him two separate visits. He did a great job and charged a reasonable price. I wanted him to do other works but he was not available for them. I would still recommend him.

I called at 7:45 AM and he was able to meet me at my house during my lunch break. As mentioned above, he analyzed the situation and was able to determine the problem. Steve's a very personable man and very easy to work with.

The overall job was performed in a professional and cost effective manner.

Curb Appeal did a great job. Steve Albert is a very good handyman with years of experience. After I emailed him, he responded promptly and we scheduled a time to meet. He came prepared and repaired the dishwasher quickly. He even gave me helpful tips on other issues/needs I have with my old house. His rate was very fair. Overall a great job! I would definitely hire him again.

Please see description of the work done, above. The handyman was able to arrive, as I had desired, to be able to confer with my physical therapist regarding the bars themselves & their optimal placement to meet my needs. That meant a lot to me He then purchased the bars and, on the day of the installation, he called to advise me that he'd be a little later than we'd anticipated. I appreciated the update. He arrived very close to the time we'd set. He did the job quickly, & efficiently. He left the area clean.

Steve is great. I use him to do general handyman work for my law firm. He is very knowledgable and courteous. I was recommend Curb Appeal to anyone who was looking for a handyman.

He turned up right on time as usual. He stopped at home depot and brought everything with him that he needed to fix it. I had a bad leak under the ground so he had to cut out an entire section and put a new one in. It took an hour and he charged me $50.

Steve came exactly on time. He took off the old hardware on my front door. He put together the new hardware and install it in the door. The closet doors would not stay shut. He put new latches on the doors and now they work great.
