I enjoy providing home improvement craftsmanship! Much of my childhood was spent building things in the garage with my Dad. Later, I attended CSU Sacramento where I earned a BS in Construction Engineering Management. I spent the first twelve years of my career working for a steel fabricator as a project manager. I missed the satisfaction of working with my hands, so I ventured out on my own and started Build Craft Inc. Build Craft Inc. is a licensed General Contractor specializing in handyman repairs and home management services. With my background in fabricating metal and wood, I strive to provide quality home improvement craftsmanship. Much of my work is scheduled on a time and material basis. This allows me to provide high-quality work and more open communication. A fixed price motivates the contractor to give less and be less attentive to the customer's needs. Profitability is increased as cheaper materials are substituted, faster shortcuts are employed, and problems are ignored. Don't be fooled... "The bitterness of poor quality lasts long after the sweetness of a low price is gone." My goal is to meet your expectations. Your satisfaction is guaranteed! LICENSE: #870405. Award winning.

Angie's customer reviews led me to BuildCraft. I called BuildCraft and also sent an email. Weeks later I received an email apologizing for not getting back to me sooner. Every one has stuff happen. The Angie list reviews seemed good, so I decided to give BuildCraft a try. I have a list of projects, the first being a set of new stairs off the back porch. I wanted to be considerate and offered to meet up when BuildCraft when Tyrell had a job in near my area. Shortly after, I received an email and we agreed to a day and time. BuildCraft requested that I confirm the appointment and I did. Yet, when BuildCraft was a no-show for our appointment, I was the one who ended up having to call. To my surprise,Tyrell informed me that there was no way he was going to make the appointment. Throughout the day, I checked my email and phone for a message from BuildCraft. Why is it that BuildCraft wanted confirmation but does not think it important to call and cancel? Instead, I hurried home, I patiently waited past the scheduled meet time, and I was the one who made what should have been the courteous call. Heck, even when Tyrell told me that he was still working a job, I was willing to wait and meet hours after our scheduled appointment, if neccessary. Buildcraft declined to meet. Tyell said he is tired of showing up to give free bids. (I might have paid, but now he'll never know) He left me feeling foolish. Because I know that BuildCraft is going to be able to see this post, I have a suggestion. Maybe you should charge for the bid and agree to deduct the bid fee from the job if the customer hires you? (I still believe you must be good at what you do.... it's the "courtesy" part that needs work).

In short, it went great! We could not be more happy with the results. We brought Terrell in to finish our kitchen remodel. Terrell removed a lot of old wiring in the attic, fixed several existing ceiling lights, removed other ceiling lights and a vent, installed six canned lights and installed an island oven range hood. But most importantly, he first fixed, then expertly finished our kitchen island. We have a large entry room, which is all open, living room, kitchen, and dining room are all in one large room, like a loft. And the kitchen island is the most dominant feature. Before Terrell did his work, the island was an eye sore. It ruined the look of the room. When Terrell was done with the island it looked better than we could have imagined. The island is now the best feature in the room. In all, Terrell's work very much exceeded our expectations, which were high to begin with. I would hire him again without hesitation. And he is a very nice and pleasant person to have working in your house. I give him my highest recommendation!

Old school craftsman, who takes great pride in his work and with results that demonstrate his broad knowledge from electrical to finished carpentry. I keep coming back to him whenever I have a need. I have a property rental in So Cal and rather than take a guess about using someone in So Cal I FLEW HIM DOWN FOR THE DAY so I can sleep knowing work was done correctly. You can get sloppy people and those that advertise beyond what they can deliver. Terrel is knowledgable and takes great pride in his work. I recommend him without hesitation.

Terrell has made three trips out to refinish the original vanity in our master bathroom. On these trips he disassembled, sanded, stained and polyurethaned the vanity. The old saying that the difference was day and night? The difference here was black hole to sun bright. Incredible! He is prompt, professional, conscientious and diligent. The amount he charged that I listed above was the approximate cost as he was also doing other work during those visits. I recommend this guy in a heartbeat.

Terrell was a little bit late for the appointment but not too bad. He answered all of my questions. The only thing he said that was a little off putting was that he didn't want to have do the painting. I wanted a finished look. I would have definitely considered using him for the job however we decided to have everything painted instead of removed and replaced.
Description of Work: We had Terrell give us an estimate for removal of and replace all baseboards, door jambs and trim and doors. He was going to replace 9 doors with solid core doors, 2 pocket doors, 2 closet sliding doors and a front door. This quote included all materials except the front door.

IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A GENERAL CONTRACTOR OR HANDYMAN, YOU CAN STOP HERE!!! I contacted Terrell about our job and we set a time for him to come out, discuss what we wanted and give us a bid. He actually listened to what we wanted and understood the job. We wanted to remodel/upgrade both bathrooms and kitchen. This entailed removing two large glued-on mirrors, five bathroom light fixtures, three faucets and a medicine cabinet. He replaced everything except the medicine cabinet with more decorative items that my wife and I had great fun shopping for!! The mirror adhesive damaged the walls, our new light fixtures had to be moved and the medicine cabinet had to be walled in. So, there was a lot of sheet rock work to be done, which is the part of the job that worried me the most. We wanted it to look perfect, of course. He also put two pendent lights in our kitchen, which meant cutting the holes, mounting new junction boxes, running new wires and installing a new switch in the wall. He also removed and replaced another kitchen light. He was always on time, always on task and always a pleasure to work with. As complications arose, he stayed calm and made the correct fixes. He had all the small hardware, junctions boxes, wire and everything to make the walls look perfect. Also, he had the right tool for every part of the job with him. Never left our house for a parts run or even lunch!! He busted his butt doing our project working 10 hour days. He also had to make special trips back to get the patching and texturing done just right, then one last trip after everything dried to hang lights and mirrors. He cleaned up after himself after each portion of the job and at the end of everyday. We all know there are lots of horror stories out there about contractors, but we can't imagine a better experience than having Terrell doing our project. We love the changes ....... Thanks a Million Terrell

Terrell came out to my house about a week and a half before the job date. We discussed details of building a 17 ft long and 9 ft high shelving unit in the back of my garage. Terrell was able to draw details of what we discussed on a white board, we discussed details of spacing between shelves and supporting verticals to support the expected weight of our storage totes. Terrell was very professional through out the design and installation process. I can tell that he really enjoys woodworking and carpentry since he put much effort into the design and installation process. I felt that he thought through all of the steps as if the work was for his own house. If you are looking for Quaility long lasting carpentry work, I highly recommend contacting Terrell Williams at Build craft.

Communication with Mr. Williams via email or phone went smooth. He showed up on time and on the date we agreed on. All the work discussed was performed and luckily he had enough time to address another door that wasn't closing properly. Now, all these doors open and close properly. Very knowledgeable, skilled pleasant person, good price, clean-up no problem. We would definitely hire him again for future projects.

The very nature of the job required several days to complete, e.g., the primer coat has to dry before a final coat can be applied. Mr. Williams performed different tasks, even when I wasn't home. There was no inconvenience to me. I would just be pleasantly surprised something ne had been done.
Description of Work: As a result of a grey-waste-water leak several bricks and a 4 x 4 foot section of the soffit had been removed. The plumber had repaired the water-leak but the wall and soffit had to be repaired. On the basis of a search of Angie's List I asked this contractor to make the needed repairs. In short, several different trade-skills were required: carpentry, masonry, and painting. All of this was in the entryway, right outside my front door. The contractor, Mr. Terrell Williams did an exceptional job.

It is obvious that Terrell enjoys his craft. He pays great attention to detail and always keeps me informed if there is a change in the method he needs to use.
Description of Work: I had a list of various repairs. Terrell went over each of these with me telling me what he would need to do to make the repair. He suggested a less expensive fix for a dry rot problem, and gave me other solutions than having him do some of the other repairs, though he could have charged me several hundred dollars for the repairs. Terrell also corrected an additional problem on my roof which I had forgotten to tell him about when he gave me his estimate for the repairs, at no additional charge.

I had intended to do this repair myself, and had purchased the part the hardware store plumbing expert said was correct, based on the Delta specs form for that faucet I showed him. Soon after, the specs form with detailed complex diagram of the faucet disappeared, so I retreated to Angie's for help. Based on reviews and his website, Terrell Williams of Build Craft seemed like a good choice. First, it didn't start well as there was some apparent confusion about the date; he rescheduled for the next day. He came within the toward the end of the "window" he offered, and with little conversation began to dismantle the faucet. Working with the part I'd purchased, he said the springs were wrong, and had to struggle with making things work. Put together, the first try still leaked. (That happens.) The second try, with some extra shoving and settling of parts, stopped the leaking. I had said at the start I'd like to watch, if he didn't mind, to learn how to do this; he made no objection, but didn't volunteer any explanation and made short response to any questions and no response to my (impersonal) observations on the process. I inferred he didn't appreciate my attention, and tried to minimize my interaction. After the faucet was done, he asked what else I wanted to show him. As I walked him through the areas needing work, he made almost no comment. One (a broken chair rung) he responded to my question, "Yes, that's something I can do." The others (involving larger challenges) he either noted (on a rotting patio door, "Yes, that needs a new door, you can pick one up....") or seemed puzzled ("What exactly is it you want?" when I'd just finished saying, "...storage shelving"). I concluded that either he just wasn't interested, or we had a personality mismatch.

Mr. Williams from Build Craft arrived promptly on schedule. He removed an old attic ladder which was falling apart, and installed a replacement that I had purchased and had waiting. He had to cut some wood framing to get the new ladder to fit properly in the opening. The final job looks perfect and works exactly as it should. His price was exactly what was quoted.
