Black Diamond Paver and Landscape

I would like to provide a review on the quality of work by Lacy Valenzuela, Project Design Specialist with Black Diamond Paver Stones & Landscape, Inc. Lacy and her team did an incredible job of interpreting a very rough hand written diagram that I provided her with the vision and dream we had for our new backyard. It is a more intimate yard that includes a pergola, small water feature, storage building and landscape that suits this smaller space. Lacy took the time to listen to our desires and wishes for this space including thoughts about hardscape, barbecue area, plants and irrigation. She really listened to what we wanted the end product to look like and at the end of the day she provided us with exactly what we were looking for. If you are looking to have work done, Sacramento Black Diamond is the best! Our project manager was Lacy Valenzuela and I wish I could give her 10 stars!! From the beginning, she was dependable, accommodating, available, helpful, encouraging, and knowledgeable. She always shows up on time, follows through on questions or concerns, and no matter how busy Lacy is, she always acts like she has all the time you want from her. In addition to being knowledgeable about pavers, lawns, etc, Lacy is a horticulturist. She knows (and LOVES) plants. She spent hours with us at Green Acres helping us pick out plants that we would love, that would be happy in our yard, and that would be resistant to succumbing to my brown thumbs. The crew that did the work in our yard (Maximino and crew) were a pleasure to have around. They left the work area clean every day, worked efficiently, and went above and beyond to be helpful. Lacy was frequently on site, checking up on every detail of the work. We had no problems with the work Black Diamond did, but I am certain that if we did Lacy would help us resolve them. She is truly a full-service manager! Our yard turned out better than I ever dreamed, and I believe that is a result of all of the hard work done on the part of Lacy, Max, and all of the other helpful people at Black Diamond.

Black Diamond was near the high end of the 5 quotes I received. I picked them due to their sales pitch and also thinking I would get better quality than with lower bids. Linette was very helpful in providing input for the design and layout of the driveway and retaining walls. Project started mid December and now it is March and project is still not done. Originally they said 5 days to complete project. Quality of work was marginal at best and not up to expectation for a high bid in some areas and good in other areas. I have called a number of times with a response of “I will call you back or I thought the project was complete”. Company hasn’t been very pro-active once I had made the payments.

From start to finish, Lacy Valenzuela delivered exactly what she promised. She was always availible when I had a question, and stayed on top of her crew. The final product matched the plans exactly. I highley recomend Black Diamond, ecpecially if you get the opportunity to work with Lacy.

I contacted Jeff Woodward, Operations Manager for Black Diamond, based on a friend's recommendation. Jeff had overseen a significant landscape project at his home and he was more than satisfied with the results. We needed help with a challenging project which included rebuilding a compromised retaining wall, new concrete walkway, and most importantly, developing a drainage system to prevent water from building up behind the wall and subsequently migrating under the foundation of our home. The project was complicated by a steep slope above the wall and a narrow set-back which required all excavation to be done by hand. Jeff was on-site most mornings to assure that the project stayed on track. He responded quickly to calls and texts from me as well. A number of challenges were met and overcome, and the project was completed on time. Jeff's Crew, especially Javier, were extremely hard working and they did a great job in assuring that the work site was clean and safe prior to departing each day. Based on our observations after a couple rain storms, it appears that the drainage system has significantly reduced the volume of water traveling under our foundation. I would definitely hire them in the future.
