The other company put the exact same water heater in for $1000 less. That to me was very significant. Beutlar has done good maintenance work for us. They put in a new air conditioner system for us 7 years ago, but now I wonder if they charged us more for it. We paid $999 for the gold service. It got us a heater check, repair of any problems, and the air conditioner check and repair any problems. We got the gold service, so if we call they came the next day, or the next day. We originally paid that, and I think that lasted 10 years. They still come out twice a year, we call them or they call us, and check the air conditioner for the summer and come back out in September to check the heating system. The service has been very good, and the only hitch was they called and rescheduled, and it was a problem when we were both working, because we would take time off, and then they would say they can't come. When they come here, the service has been very good, they boot their booties on, they clean up before they go, you sign a piece of paper, and they sit down and go through it all, and we haven't paid for those services in a long time. They even clean the filters in the heater which is up in the ceiling and is not easy to do. We have a level of comfort now, and they have given us pretty good service.

I will never use Beutler again for any of my HVAC needs. Before moving into our new home in El Dorado Hills about a month ago, we had plenty of issues with our HVAC system in Folsom, also serviced by Beutler. There is a reason I bring this up, bear with me. The system rarely worked as it was supposed to and struggled to cool the house. Before moving, we learned that one of the ducts came loose and the unit was cooling the attic. This is a year after we brought someone out to seal that very duct connector (I'm doing the best I can to describe the situation, I don't pretend to know the whole system and verbiage used. They were frustrating to work with and I rarely felt like they did a good job. So, moving forward to our new home, I saw Beutler installed the system and was disappointed, but it is what it is. After even one day we notice a bunch of water dripping from a drainage pipe in the backyard that in my limited knowledge, know is connected to the A/C. We have Beutler come out, they of course try to sell us on the extended service plan. They tell us that most everything is fine after crawling around the attic, that everything is normal, not to worry about it too much and that we'll probably need a new system soon (it's about 10 years old), even say that it wouldn't be a horrible idea to get a new one now. They also suggested we some high dollar charge to "clean our dirty system in the attic" We decline and go about our daily lives. Fast forward a month. We are frustrated because the system seems to really be struggling to cool our home (and it hasn't been THAT hot outside in this time. Our PG&E bill seems larger than it even should be (and I know how bad they can be). And over a 4 hour period, the temp isn't budging from 78 degrees. So we call Rocklin Heating and Air based on some reviews from this site. I called on a Sat morning and someone was here 3 hours later without any begging or anything. He crawled up in the attic and 20 minutes later, he found two issues that Beutler didn't find. One, (a familiar tune) was that a duct was completely disconnected and was cooling our entire attic, but not reaching the home (how did they miss this!!??). He said it looks like it has been like that for a while. He shared another problem too, but said let's just try the first one and see if that is a good enough fix. He also showing me a "cleanable" filter that Beutler used to see that when he worked there for a few months earlier in his career they joked were "system killers." We asked about "cleaning the system" - were told, no, it's fine, completely normal. I can't even tell you how frustrated I am with Beutler and felt like everyone should know. We were also told to avoid them by a good friend that used to work for a property management company since all of this happen as she said she wasn't surprised. Call at your own risk.

l. The Comfort advisor came out and wrote contract for $11,512. on 6/22/15, I since called Beutler's office to question the 8% sales tax charge. Beutler informed me that they do not charge a sales tax, and they called the comfort advisor to come back out on 6/22 to rewrite the contract. If I had not called Beutler office, I would have been charged the sales tax. The comfort advisor knew or should have known about this overcharge, which led me to question his credibility on anything he says. 2. On July 3, 2015 Beutler sent two people out to test the ducts and air flow and refrigerant on my system. (Energy Guy). That evening (July 3th) I noticed that the cooling wasn't working. The next morning, July 4th, I called Beutler and they sent an emergency crew out to fix the system so it would run properly. I was told by Beutler that the Energy Guys failed to place the cover on the attic access opening, and that the door to the system in the attic was left open. Energy Guys should have made sure that the system was working properly before they left on July 3rd. I have no complaints against the Beutler crew who originally installed the new system on 6/22/15. However, because of the above two reasons, I will not recommend Beutler to anyone.

They are always good. Home service plan members will have priority scheduling. There is a discount on parts and labor. They replaced stuff that was under warranty and were on it. They have been fine to deal with.

I was put into contact with Beutler through Home Depot. I scheduled an appointment with Ron. He came over on time and gathered a bunch of information and said he wanted to visit in a few days to go over everything and give me a formal written estimate for installation. When the next week came around, Ron was about 1:45 minutes late. He didn't have anything written up, he just blurted out a number: a little over $13k. He didn't really explain what was included or what, if any, other options we might have. I tried to pry as much information from him as possible and trying to take notes, but didn't get much from him. He asked me for my email address so he could send me the formal estimate and details through email. I have not heard from him since. His boss called several days later to ask how everything went. I told him that I was interesting a written estimate and that I haven't heard back from Ron. He said he would follow up with Ron, but again, I haven't heard anything. The estimate itself seemed really high for what they were proposing, but I don't even actually know what they were proposing, what kind of equipment they were going with, if there was any kind of warranty, they pretty much left me in the dark on everything. Bottom line is that I wouldn't recommend them.

If you use Beutler, make sure you ask for someone who has a lot of experience, like a field supervisor. The first person to come out to adjust our thermostat told us we needed a new one. I asked to speak to a supervisor who came out and showed us the proper use of the thermostat. Be advised: their thermostat is proprietary and therefore cannot be replaced by any model except their own.

Called them on 7/23/14 to schedule an appointment, they came out on 7/24/14. They checked the system and found the compressor was in the BAD range and gave me a quote for replacing the complressor. I have had the system for 12years (new house and new system) and Beulter has maintained it every year (not very well over the years). I was a member of the old Comfort Club and signed up for the Home Service Plan after the first contract ran out. I am supposed to be a "priority customer" with this plan, but have never felt like one or have them responded to complaints/service calls that I have had. ON 7/24/14 I told the service tech that I WANTED them to replace the compressor since they said it would completed shut down anyday. The first service tech had another tech come out just to double check is diagnosis, he said the same thing and I told him also to get the compressor ordered/installed ASAP. I called Buetler after they both left and told the company I wanted it replaced. I called the next morning to check the status of the order and was told they had ordered the part and would call later that day to schedule the install. I called that afternoon around 4:30pm since they hadn't called me, I was told once again they would call in the morning. No callback in the morning, so I called them AGAIN! I was told this time that they didn't know why I was told that the part was ordered since the service Tech had to order it, they would have the Tech call me back. He did call but I was in a meeting and couldn't take the call personally. He left a message that the part would be ordered and he/Buetler would call and schedule the install appointment. Today is August 14th and they HAVE NEVER CALLED ME BACK TO INSTALL THE PART. My system did DIE on July 27th as they predicted. No AC during the hotest week of the year. I called another company and found out that it wasn't just the compressor that was bad but the mother board was corroded and had been for some time (they should have found this during the 12 years they YEARLY inspected and maintained the unit). The NEW company showed me the board just to verify what they were telling me was tue and accurate. They could replace the compressor and motherboard but it only had a year warranty(old parts could cause the domino effect of the system), or I could replace the entire unit for a $1,000 more and get the 10year warranty. I replaced the unit and was very happy with their work and efficiency. Over the 12years I have had this Heating and AC system, I have NEVER felt they did a good job in maintaining, responding,or overall service when they did show up (but I was tied to the contract of the comfort club). The fact that they have NEVER called me back (three weeks later) is rediculous and completely unprofessional. They don't care about their "loyal" or so-called "priority" customers, it's a sham. I could go on and on about their lack of knowledge and untrained techs, but i would bother. DO NOT use this company!!!!!!!!! 3/2015- UPDATE Just so it's clear, BAC stated they were contacting me to address the situation???? True to form- they NEVER called me to discuss anything about this post or my issues.

The service went very poorly as my AC failed again four days after the initial Beutler service call. Again it was a blown fuse on Ztech board. I left a voice mail message for Jim Anderberg, Beutler's General Manager, on Friday, July 25, which detailed the issues and I requested a credit for $228. This included the $169 service contract fee which I already cancelled and requested a credit for on July 15 after speaking to a Beutler rep named Colin, I also asked for a credit for the $59 service call which did not address/fix the problem with the failing Ztech board. I did not hear back from Mr Anderberg on Friday after leaving him the voice mail. I checked my credit card issuer on Friday, and had not as yet received a credit.
Description of Work: Tried to diagnose why ac suddenly stopped working night before. Replaced 2 amp fuse on ztech board. Beutler tech said I needed thousands of dollars in costly repairs as my system was "out of spec" in many areas, but pushed hard for me to make investment instead in $13,000 new hvac system because it wa time and the original systems don't last long he said. I declined to purchase new system as the 2 amp fuse got AC running again. Due to hot weather, tech encouraged me to buy home service plan which he said would provide priority service and 20% discount on future repairs. I felt pressured as he said my system could die and then what was I going to do. Later that day I read all reviews on angies list and yelp and spoke to Colin at Beutler to cancel the service contract and refund to my card. Colin agreed, yet Beutler has not submitted the credit. Beutler called me 4 times since then asking why I was canceling the service agreeing. My ac did stop working again 4 days after the initial call same blown fuse issue on ztech board. Another smaller local company diagnosed the problem, said my hvac system is sound and has many more years of useful life on it. Replacement ztech boards and some other comparable can easily be purchased online. Entire repair qs completed at affordable price. All beutler did was focus on up selling me a new system and did not utilize the service call to fix actual problem which was a worn out ztech board. Very poor service call. Will never use Beutler again

I setup an appt for an estimate for a complete hvac system, the day before the estimate I was called to confirm the appt and was told that they would not be able to come out at the time scheduled and I agreed on a new time. I was called on the day of the appt but could not take the phone call as I was at work and was left a message that someone will not be able to come out at the time of the new appt that I agreed to and was given another time someone could come out but I could not do the new time they suggested and I was not confident they would keep this other time. I did not return the phone call because I look at it as if an appt could not be held for a estimate my trust just would not be there with work done on a job that is gonna cost over 10k.

Beutler Home Improvement Contract # 8130 - 034138 Although we had completed this survey previously already ... The homeowner, Mr. Smith, left me in charge and told me he felt all he needed was a contact switch for the air conditioner and to tell the tech this, which I did when he arrived. The first tech (J. Phillippe) to come out allegedly investigated the a/c. The tech also checked the heating unit, which was not requested but I thought this was all part of the service. The tech proceed to tell me & write up for the heater that the "blower" was full of dust and "new" unit was strongly suggested. He showed me photos he had taken. Due to this advise I suggested we call Mr. Smith. The tech then spoke with Mr. Smith over the phone and Mr. Smith stated he did not want a new unit and stated NO further service was to be done. The tech was condescending to me about Mr. Smith after the call. I feel the tech was a tad miffed that Mr. Smith did not want a new unit and because this was suggested to Mr. Smith he request no further service. I paid the techn by check and he left. Once Mr. Smith arrived home we had a discussion about the service the tech performed. Mr. Smith asked me why the tech was even looking at the heater, which was in the house vs. the a/c being outside - 2 totally different units. I proceeded to tell Mr. Smith that the tech took photos of the blower unit and told him how dirty they looked in the photo. Mr. Smith wanted to know about these photos taken as he was curious as to HOW the tech was able to view the blower without taking the heater apart, which he could not have done in the amount of time it took him to look at the unit. We realized later on the tech had to of shown me photos he had stored in his phone. It is the ONLY possibility. If we had of thought about it further, we would have not only contacted Beutler, but also the BBB. These photos were used not only to show me, but we are pretty sure to show other clients as well. So, the story goes on ... We turned the a/c on, which the tech did look at and advised me it needed a new condenser, which I am sure was possible. But all of a sudden now the a/c was not cooling at all, which it did before he arrived. It was curious how all of a sudden the a/c went out once Mr. Smith decided he did not want anymore service from Beutler. Mr. Smith called their office and spoke to a "manager" who basically called Mr. Smith a liar because Mr. Smith told him the unit now did not work as it should have. He also told this mgr he felt the tech is the one who made the unit not work properly and he wanted someone to come back out and take a look at it. The manager refused and continued to tell Mr. Smith he was lying. After much negotiation, and it was a Friday, Mr. Smith somehow contacted someone else, perhaps the district manager. He did send another tech out by the name of Omar, Beutler Home Improvement Contract # 8130-031888. Omar was fantastic. He was polite and very helpful. He and Mr. Smith were able to discuss the previous tech's job, and the current issue at hand. Omar was aghast at what the previous tech had said and done. Omar took a look at the a/c unit and found a loose wire. Mr. Smith thought it was very interesting that after having this unit installed for more than 15 years (?), it all of a sudden had a loose wire, and discretely hidden from normal viewing. Mr. Smith also had him replace the "contactor" and Omar had to leave, go to Beutler, and pick one up. He then had to drive all the way back to the house. Omar fixed reattached the wire and replaced the contactor. He even had called the district mgr and advised him all was good. Unfortunately, Mr. Smith, nor I, will ever contact Beutler again and they will certainly never be given any recommendations.

They completed the installation in one day and cleaned up well after completion. They told me I was going to get a Wifi thermostat that I could adjust remotely to control the temperature with the installtion. When I noticed that it was not installed, I tried to contact them twice but they never got to me. Besides this issue, everything else was fine. I liked working them.

We called early one morning after our furnace went out, and was told it would be late afternoon before they could make it out, contrary to what I believed upon signing up for the special list we were on. When I complained, the person on the phone was very rude and told us we would have to get in line with the rest of the special people. Then, when they came to work on the furnace, they seemed to charge us more for the parts than they should have, compared to what other companies in the area charge for the same parts. This was another instance of contradicting the special deal we had purchased. Most of the time, they have been very nice, and the service people have always been very nice, but on this instance, they fell short of expectation.
Description of Work: They convinced us to join a special list for a price that entitled us to privileges such as quicker service and lower costs and then they did not honor this.

A friend had recently informed me that this company is actually a company called ARS which used to operate in Phoenix but is here and using the Beutler name. If you check the name ARS on the website for www.abc15.com which is in Phoenix, you will find that the AZ attorney general filed a lawsuit against them for consumer fraud. If you look at the "Beutler" truck, you will see ARS in plain sight on it's side. It seems these people influenced elderly customers to get costly repairs they didn't need. In my case, the repair person did locate a problem with the circuit board. I think this was correct, since my electric bill later showed a big increase. The repair person said that he had "fixed" this by just "tapping the circuit board", but that I should replace it anyway for just $700. Because of my friend's warning, I declined the replacement and the system has been working perfectly ever since. On another occasion, the company did a plumbing inspection. They did replace my clothes washer hoses with metal ones, and said my garbage disposal had a leak ( which I had not detected) so they replaced that. When he checked my water heater which I had noticed no problems with, after saying that I didn't need to stay in the garage to observe ( my mistake) said that when he drained the water heater, the water was so rusty that he immediately rinsed it off my driveway so that it wouldn't stain the concrete. I had no way of verifying this. He did repair an outside faucet for water entry into the house which was badly rusted. Still, the whole plumbing thing ended up costing me $3700. There's no way for me to verify that my old water heater needed to be replaced so I bit the bullet and paid for a new one. On another occasion, after a check of my system under the comfort club plan, I was pressured to set up an appointment for a completely new system even though there seemed to be nothing wrong with the one I have. My sense is that these people may be good at installing new systems, but I will not call them again for anything.
Description of Work: On this date they recommended a $700 repair to my heating/air conditioning system. I was skeptical since it seemed to be working perfectly.

We are generally happy with their service and have used them for fourteen years. The only problem that we have had is that we have trouble scheduling our semi-annual service as they ere backlogged. We were quite happy with their work on installing a new HVAC System in 2010 and continue to use them for routine maintenance on the system. We have a service contract and they service the furnace every fall and the AC in the spring.

These guys are rock-solid. They're honest, and do good work on time and as estimated. Highly recommended. I've had both repair/replacement work and simple maintenance, all performed w/o a hitch. Pleasant, well-trained staff.
My A/C broke on a hot day. Beutler was the only HVAC company that could send a tech on the same day. He arrived as scheduled and fixed the problem. I later found out that their price was on the high end but being able to get my A/C back on the same day was priceless. Beutler claims to have the largest fleet of service trucks in the area and the overhead of so many trucks and techs is expensive. However it does result in better emergency service. I subsequently got bids to replace my HVAC unit as the break down was some what expected. The HVAC was original to the house and very old. I did not go with Beutler for that as their bid was significantly higher than anyone else's. Bottom line is I would recommend this company without hesitation for emergency work but for a planned replacement beware that they can pad out their bids with lots of extras that you may not need. However they are willing to negotiate if you are someone who like to do some hard bargaining.
