I would not trust him to touch my house because he is a flake. I was totally serious about getting a full bathroom remodel. I would also not let his wife sell any piece of real estate. Obviously she does not follow through on serious leads to sell a house and/help a couple buy a house.
Description of Work: I called for a quote on a bathroom remodel and possibly a full home remodel. He showed up late to appointment and was totally drunk when he arrived. He recommended a bathroom remodel but not home remodel and thought I might be interested in speaking with his wife who is a realtor. I was interested in both. He said he would send a quote when he returned from Tahoe for a vacation. Never heard back from him. Never received a quote. Never heard from his wife.

Brian and Becky Harvey (Band B!) are neighbors on the street behind my current home. They've always been fantastic neighbors, running the neighborhood watch and helping everyone. They're the go-to people for our neighborhood. Brian has done many little projects at my current home, and he's pleasure to work with. When the house next-door was foreclosed, it was vacant for a long time, and wasn't in that great a shape to begin with. An investor bought it, along with the house on the other side, and hired Band B for a complete gut remodel of the house next-door and major renovations of the other house. So ... I got to see Brian in action. He did not disappoint. The house next-door is gorgeous now, completely up-to-date with refined floor plan that speaks to Brian's creativity and problem-solving. That house just sold for a premium price for our street, and I've no doubt the investor did well. The other home wasn't as dramatic a transition, but it's also a showplace now. When I bought a 1957 rancher in the next county, I didn't blink at the challenges. The house had no functioning septic system, and original fuse-box electrical. I'm not a renovator, but I got the home for a bargain price and sat down with Brian with my budget for fix-up. A month later, the home is worth $70K more than I paid for it, $40K more than I spent to fix it, and better yet -- I'm moving in in two weeks. The work far exceeded my high expectations. Brian acts as if it's his own money, and is creative in ways to git 'er done without breaking the bank. I could keep working (gotta pay for the place!) without worrying that I had to be on-site. Brian kept me updated several times a day, and offered money-saving solutions ... such as me waiting at the permit offices instead of him. The work was superb. A friend of mine who's a home-builder said I got the deal of the century on the home ... and the contractor! I've exhausted my initial budget, but will be bringing Brian back in the months to come to: Replace windows Add second bath Change water heater to tankless and move to make room for second bath

Our existing vinyl shower shell had deteriorated to the point where we had patched holes several times. A friend of ours had remodeled all of their bathrooms and helped us organize this project. We wanted to replace the shower with tile - because it was not a standard size, we could not install a bathtub. We also wanted to install a tile floor, update to a water efficient toilet and improve the lighting and venting. In addition, we had moved our furnace from a kitchen closet area to the attic in Sept 2010. We wanted to convert this space to a pantry. We wanted to install flooring to match the existing kitchen floor have multiple shelves and a light. Brian had the idea to install a light that would turn on and off when we opened the door. Brian worked with us to keep the project within our budget - allowing us to find ways to do the important work within our means. We met with Brian to confirm the work and he started later that week. The first week he did the demolition of the old bathroom. He removed all of waste materials and protected our house where he walked in and out. When he came to any decisions, he worked with us to discuss the options so we could make appropriate changes. He took into account our budget and also what made the most sense in terms of long term results. After the demolition, Brian worked to reinforce the floor to hold the weight of the tile and the weight of a new glass door. He also framed out the niche which would be tiled to create a shelf that did not impact the interior space of this small shower. He was able to maximize the opening to accommodate large bottles while also keeping the finished area in line with the tile design. He moved the drain to center it as much as possible in the space (we had a support beam in the center of the space. Brian installed a vent with automated timer with attached to an existing unused vent to the roof. He used insulated ducting to prevent moisture buildup in the attic. In addition, he installed a separate light over the shower. I think this is the best lit room in the house now. While waiting for the tile work to start, Brian worked on the pantry area. He patched the existing holes in the walls, ceiling and floor. This included closing up the air vent returns in the hall and living room. He installed flooring in the space and drywall on the ceiling. He installed a push button switch in the door frame and a can LED light in the ceiling. We wanted several shelves within the pantry and Brian worked with us to maximize this small space. The room is approximately 2 feet by 4 feet - deep and narrow. Brian designed L shaped shelves on adjustable rails. This allows us to fit 4 L shaped shelves and one regular shelf in the space. It is amazing how usable the space is - and how much we can fit in there! To save money, we did all primer and paint work. When the tile work was set to start, Brian worked with Eric from Olsem Tile and Stone to ensure the design was implemented correctly. We all worked together to lay the tile out and ensure there were no issues. Once the tile was installed and sealed, Brian came back to finish the room. He installed the toilet and reinstalled the sink with a new faucet. We love our new bathroom and were very happy with our experience with Brian and Band B Harvey Construction.
Description of Work: Converted a closet in the kitchen to a pantry. This closet had previously housed a furnace and required drywall to fix the hole in the ceiling and fixing the floor to replace the air intake. Installed laminate flooring, a door activated light and 5 custom built shelves. Did all of the work (other than tile) to replace a vinyl shower liner shower to a tile shower. This included rerouting the drain, raising the shower head, creating an inset niche for bottles and soap, installing a new toilet, light fixtures, vent fan, moving electrical outlets and a new sink faucet. He also supervised the tile setting and design which was done by Olsem Tile and Stone.
