Description of Work: I hired them to fix a kitchen sink that had been done poorly by a different plumber. He took the plumbing apart, resealed it, and got it in working order. He cleaned the drain and the disposal. He also fixed a minor issue in my toilet.

Last Sunday, while trying to replace bathroom sink faucet (a "simple" DIY job), we sheared off the old p-trap with no way to fix it ourselves. After reviewing plumbers on Angies List, we called Armstrong that day and talked to their weekend answering service. We had explained that it wasn't an emergency but still got a call from the on-call plumber who asked for more detail (a plus!). We explained the problem & he told us that someone from Armstrong would call Monday AM to set up an appointment. The person we talked to in the office was friendly and helpful and was able to send someone out Monday before noon. Matt, the service person, was prompt, courteous, & very conscientious (wore booties in the house). He gave us options to fix the problem - one much less costly than the other but very effective and was done with the job in an hour. Excellent service at a very reasonable price - we will be sure to call them again.
Description of Work: They repaired a broken drain pipe in a very cost-conscious manner and installed our new faucets.

Plumber arrived early within the arranged time window. Assessed the situation. Set-up and did the necessary work: shut off the water supply, emptied the tank and removed it, replaced all the bolts, checked all the other parts in the tank, put a new gasket in place, replaced the tank and tightened the bolts. No leak. He also installed a new flush lever. No leaks. Everything works.

Smoothly. Called after hours. A person got back to me and gave and estimate of time for the next working day. The service man called before he came and actually came earlier than the time he predicted.
Description of Work: My pipe to the washer was blocked. I asked that the plumber check the line to the bar because we could hear it bubbling up in the family room. Lo and behold, when I had the house repiped the plumbers capped off a line that had a leaky pipe with putty. The putty was clogging the pipe. Armstrong replaced the pipe and unclogged the line. The reason I have Angie's membership is because of the shoddy job the other plumber did. this is the second time I called Armstrong and was very satisfied with their services.

We had Armstrong come out to fix our shower water pressure and repair the faucet that had come off the wall for the bath tub. Milton, the service manager came out the first time and fixed the water pressure. Can't believe what a difference it made. There was an additional part needed to order and when it came in, they sent out another plumber. Unfortunately it was a wasted trip because he wasn't able to fix anything that was outstanding (miscommunication apparently). On the 3rd trip out, Milton came back and installed the O ring to prevent the slight leak on the shower head and fixed the bath tub. He also fixed it so that when the handle is turned towards "hot" hot water comes out and vice versa (it was mixed up). Now I can finally take a bath after many months of not having a working bath tub! Overall we were pleased with the experience as well as the price. Some dirt left in the tub on two of the visits but still pleased overall.

Anthony came out promptly. We explained the problem and our puzzlement. He explained what typically caused such a problem and went to work. He quickly solved the problem (the homebuilder hadn't used teflon tape or plumber's goop on the screw in angle pipe inside the wall leading to the shower head.) That is why only an occasional leak as the shower is used only rarely. Sure beats a broken/leaking pipe.
Description of Work: We have had a small leak from our upstairs bathroom bother us off and on for years. Have tried various remedies and plumbing help over that time. Some actions seemed to work, at least for a while, and then the problem would reappear. We recently had used Armstrong with another problem and were pleased, so we called them when our bathroom leak reappeared.

The trap under a bathroom sink needed to be replaced. My house was built in the 1950's so the plumbing lines are cast iron. When I talked to the people at Armstrong, they explained that they work with this type of plumbing all the time. The threads of the T joint were badly corroded. When the tech came out he started with the least disruptive repair first [to see if he could cut enough threads in the old T joint to get a brass nipple in] before proceeding with the more disruptive and costly process of cutting out the T joint [and possibly having to go under the house] to replace it with a new T joint. Fortunately, he was able to cut enough threads in the old T joint to accept a brass nipple [Thus the least costly option!]. The tech always wore protective shoe covers when in the house [The carpet had just been cleaned!] and cleaned up the repair mess in the bathroom. Very professional. We are very pleased with this company's staff and their work.

My 9 year old water heater had decided it's time was up and was leaking water all over my floor. I called Armstrong and they called me back within 15 minutes to set an appointment. Dave came to my house within an hour of my phone conversation and he jumped right in. He already had the needed water heater on his truck. This may sound like a small thing but when I had my original water heater installed it took the guy from the chain store 3 trips out with different water heaters every time. I have an older home and not a lot of space for the heater. Dave said that when he saw the area my house was in he figured he would need to fit the heater in a small spot. He just threw the needed water heater in his truck. I have to say this was one of the best experiences I have ever had with a plumber. I would use this company and even though I'm sure they have other great employees, I'll always ask for Dave!!
Description of Work: I had my water heater replaced. The total above did include a permit as well.

Called on a Monday and set up an appointment for 0800 the next mornig. Jacob arrived on schedule, analyzed the problem, promptly executed the prescribed repair (i.e. replacing about 18" of 1/2 inch copper line, elbows, and rerouting for better efficiency), and provided advice on improved system maintenance. The process took about two hours total. I had a similar repair performed by another company about a year prior at a higher cost. Very thorough and professional.

We called Armstrong Plumbing, as we'd used them before after we'd found them on Angie's List. Prompt, professional and just very good people. We definitely recommend Armstrong to anyone who has plumbing difficulties in their home.

Wow! I called at 11:30 Monday morning with a leaking water heater in my garage. I was thrilled to be told that they had a guy on his way back from El Dorado Hills who could be here soon. Anthony arrived about an hour later. He quickly diagnosed the problem, showing me that one of the pipes at the top of and leading into the tank had been leaking for some time and was quite rusted. I asked what might have caused the problem, (because I had been told the water heater was fairly new when I'd purchased the house less than 6 years before.) He said this water heater was 8 years old, and most likely had not been installed correctly to begin with. This didn't surprise me because the previous owner was a "do-it-yourself-er" and I had had to have repairs done already to several other things he'd done himself. I'm not sure if he'd installed the water heater himself, but it wouldn't have surprised me to learn he had. Anthony said, from what he was seeing on the outside, the insulation between the outer shell and the inner tank was probably waterlogged, causing the bottom of the tank to rust out and create furthur leaking from the bottom. He also predicted that the electrical components within the heater would also be waterlogged... which turned out to be the case... and which could have been a dangerous situation. The recommendation was to replace the entire water heater, because the damage was so extensive. I was pleasantly surprised to hear him say that he would be able to do it today. He just had to return to the shop to pick up a new water heater. He returned in about 30 minutes. As it happens, Armstrong Plumbing uses and warrantees the same brand of water heater that I was replacing. I was told with correct installation (this time!) the new water heater should last 10-16 years. Anthony estimated a 2 and 1/2 hour job and he actually finished in about an hour and a half. By 3:00 p.m. he was driving away. He was pleasant, courteous, informative, and efficient. I must reiterate... Wow! From an 11:30 a.m. distress call to a finished job at 3:00 p.m. and at a very reasonable price. You can't ask for more than that. As long as I am in this area and Armstrong is in business, I'll not be needing or using any other company for my plumbing needs.

It was so nice, quick and easy on me. Anthony called before coming, was pleasant, helpful closing up the crawl space. The Angie's discount is better than the senior discount, and I would definitely use them again.
Description of Work: There was water in my garage of unknown origin. I first called Armstrong when I first noticed it in Dec, 2009, they scheduled an appt for the next day. I canceled shortly later because I could not find a source and promised to call back with better information. March 16, I called again, after running dishwasher garage had water. Matt scheduled for next day. I prepared for crawl space access and major trouble. Anthony came out, looked in crawl space, looked in garage. Ran water in kitchen sink and saw that water was coming out of an unused washer drain pipe. He explained that the pipes were clogged and only that was needed was to snake them out, and that if the unused drainpipe was capped the water would have backed up into the dishwasher and sink.

When the kitchen sink clogged up, I tried everything I would normally do: check the trap, and snake the pipes a few feet, then liquid plumr. This didn't seem to unblock the pipes. I got on Angie's list and found Armstrong plumbing. I called and got an appointment (for the next day I think). It wasn't like a clogged toilet line or anything, I could wait a day, so I didn't insist on a same day appointment. The plumber arrived, asked me about what the problem was, and what I'd already tried. He decided it was a clog between the kitchen and the main line, between 12 and 25 feet away from the sink. He ran the snake down the clear-out pipe for the kitchen and unclogged it in about 5-10 minutes. After he got it unplugged, he suggested that if something similar were to happen again, I could just use a longer snake than the one I had already tried, and I might not have to call again. So to sum up: fast, effective, friendly, helpful service. Well worth the money, in my opinion.

Fantastic. The said they'd arrive between 2-4pm and arrived at 2:15. The first repair involved fixing the water shut off valve for the sprinkler system. The valve was originally underground and they relocated it to above ground and changed it to a very easy to use 1/4 turn valve. Once that job was complete they came inside and fixed the leak in the p-trap and identified a secondary leak and fixed it as well. They were punctual, professional and left both repair areas looking like new.
Description of Work: Anderson Plumbing came out to do two repairs. The main repair was to replace the outdoor water shut off valve for our sprinkler system and the other repair was to fix a leak in the p-trap of a a faucet in bathroom.

The sinks in my kitchen baked up for the second time. The first time was last Thanksgiving and we had someone come out emergently. He spent several hours in our house, but could not confirm that a block had been found. Eventually the sinks drained and we thought the problem fixed until this week when it happened again. This time I turned to Angie's List and found Armstrong Plumbing. While they could not come out that evening, they arrived promptly then next day and cleared the problem within 1 hour. He told me that he found a hard block about 35 feet out and suspected that it was from years of build up. I would definitely use them again and I will definitely be turning to Angie's List in the future

After considerable research, we selected Armstrong Plumbing because of their top-notch, gold star rating from Angie's List customers. We could not have been more pleased with the results. Angie's List just paid for itself with this job. We were especially impressed with the super-courteous, helpful replies the company posted on Angie's List in responding to the tiny handful of complaints they received. That's the sign of a good, honest company -- the way they respond openly and positively to the occasional complaint. The scheduler on the phone was extremely friendly and efficient. They were here within 90 minutes after we called. The plumber was a very nice, polite, efficient guy who was scrupulously careful about putting plastic covers on his shoes to avoid track dirt into the house. He was obviously well-trained, careful and fast-working. Both repairs worked great. And best of all, he didn't try to sell us any unneeded equipment, and he didn't go looking to find other plumbing problems so he could run the bill up. (We had heard really bad stories about another very large, well-known, expensive plumbing chain in Sacramento with a reputation for doing that.) We will definitely use them again and have recommended them to other family members. We are so relieved to find a plumber we can trust.
Description of Work: They were here 1-1/2 hours. They repaired a leaky toilet (installing new flapper valve) and also replaced the rubber gaskets in our kitchen faucet. In addition to a defective toilet flapper valve which needed replacing, the upper tank was leaking onto the floor from a deteriorated rubber gasket where the flapper valve goes through the porcelain to the toilet bowl below....which always requires the complete removal and disconnection of the entire upper tank.

We had a clogged kitchen drain and could not clear it ourselves. Used ratings of this company on Angie's list to choose Armstrong. Our call was answered promptly and professionally and the dispatcher took time to understand what we'd done already to try to clear the drain. He said that they can usually clear the drain quickly and within the initial 30 minute period for which they charge $90. After that they bill based on additional time in 15 minute increments. The plumber called within the window promised. He was professional and cleared the drain quickly using a snake. When the bill was prepared he charged me for 45 minutes which I questioned at first until he showed me the time that he arrived. In retrospect, I would not have spoken with him as much if I knew he was going to charge me for small talk. Also, he made 5 seperate trips to the truck that seemed unecessary and increased the amount of time he "worked" on clearing the drain. I recommend this company, but keep the small talk to a minimum and document when they walk in the door. The Angie's list discount helped offset the additional charge.
Description of Work: Our kitchen sink was clogged and had to be cleared.
