He took about 5 minutes to clear drain. He asked if there were any other pluming problems he could look at as he must charge me for 1/2 hour @ $110.00. I did have coupon.so that helped. I feel if takes less than 15 minutes should be billed at 2nd 1/2 hour rate which is cheaper than first 1/2 hour rate. However would use them again.

Laird checked the tank, water hose connections and the base of the commode. He was able to determine the water hose was not installed tightly enough and he adjusted it to ensure it would hold better. He explained what he had done and what led him to believe this was the problem. Very nice, very professional and very thorough!!
Description of Work: The gentleman in the office who answered the phone was pleasant and explained that Michelle was busy and would call back as soon as possible to help me, Michelle called back within a half hour and was able to fit us in to the schedule to have our problem looked at. Newly installed commode had a leak and Laird came in and explained what was wrong and what he did to fix. His professionalism and personality along with his expertise made this a great experience. We will definitely call Armstrong again if we need plumbing assistance in the future.

I called at the end of one day and the gentleman showed up promptly early the next morning. He said paper towels were one of his most frequent challenges, and my little snake had no hope of clearing them. He was finished in less than ten minutes, cleaned up after his work. He was congenial and professional.

I've had several projects done by Armstrong Plumbing, all of them fantastic successes. The first was to complete required gas line work prior to the close of escrow. The work was performed timely, reliably, and affordably, all of which is needed in escrow and the work passed the home inspection and the house closed on time. All the projects since, have been of the same great value and success. This more recent project was the testing of the pipes, as I had noticed rusty water and low water flow. The technician was professional, punctual, and thorough. After extensive testing, he diagnosed that all I required was flushing the pipes which would cost just a couple hundred dollars as opposed to a couple thousand to re-pipe through the roof due to the houses slab foundation. A testament to their unbiased integrity. The work was performed same day and the results phenomenal - fixing the water flow from a trickle to normal, and the rust gradually disappearing. I use Armstrong exclusively now for all my gas and water plumbing needs, and highly recommend them to others.

I had an old, wobbly toilet that didn't have a good seal with the floor and was allowing insects to get in. I hadn't used Armstrong before but called them based on their Angie's list feedback and Mark came out quickly, was great to deal with and did an outstanding job.

Sunday, I noticed a small, steady fountain coming out of a valve outside. I really didn't know what it was for, but it wasn't doing anything when I tried to screw it shut. I checked Angie's list and tried Armstrong Plumbing - not because it was an emergency, but because I wanted to get an appointment set up. A real person answered, and later an emergency plumber called just to make sure all was OK to wait until Tuesday. This morning, they called and set up an appointment for this afternoon with a 2-hour window. Peter came within the 2-4 window, and was able to tighten the valve. I appreciate it because he could have sold me a line on it needing to be replaced, big job, etc., and he didn't. I then went on to ask him for ballpark quotes on a couple of things I will need done sooner (water heater replacement) or later (change my electric stove to gas) and he was helpful and patient. I very much appreciated this service, and understand the great marks on Angies list for this company.

We purchased the Kohler kitchen faucet+soap dispenser at Home Depot and Peter quickly installed the assembly (3-holes + dishwasher vent). Works great. The pressure regulator for the house could not be adjusted and had to be replaced. We had 95 pounds pressure (city) and it could not be turned it down. It took a few days for Armstrong to order the replacement and Peter quickly installed a new regulator and adjusted the pressure to 50 psi, a more comfortable and safe level (see next paragraph for a caveat). He suggested better shower heads, had a couple on his truck and these were also replaced. However, when Peter came to install the new regulator, I was closely watching the process. After installing the new regulator, he mentioned that he could not turn down the water pressure. I thought that a bit strange (it was a new regulator) and I had a look at the procedure. I noticed that the meter read about 85 psi and would not go down whenever the regulator screw was driven in. I suggested a solution - the problem was that you can turn the regulator's adjustment screw to increase the house pressure when all valves/faucets are closed (no water is running), however, to decrease the pressure in a closed system (all valves/faucets are off), you need to relieve the pressure by running water for a short time somewhere. I explained this situation (I'm a scientist/engineer) and we fixed the situation as follows: The regulator adjustment was set to very low pressure (screw turned quite far in), then a faucet briefly opened which relieved the house pressure -- we noted that the pressure became very low (e.g., 25 psi). Then the water was turned off, and the regulator was adjusted to increase the pressure to an optimum, safe value (we chose 48 psi). I was surprised that a plumber wasn't aware of this procedure. Quite possibly, the old regulator worked well and pressure-release process not done - hence it could not be turned down (hence, I may not have needed a new regulator). In conclusion, all work went well, and the results were perfect. Armstrong was a bit pricy - the install of the new regulator took about 1/2 hour. I think they built in the possibility of encountering problems into the estimate and stuck with the estimate even though everything went smoothly. On the positive side, no leaks, no callbacks to date. I'm in the process of writing a warning for our local newspaper (Sun City) about such potential house water regulator overcharges.
Description of Work: Peter replaced our leaky kitchen faucets, faulty house pressure regulator and bad shower heads.

My heating bill kept getting higher and higher without any reason that I could find. I worked with SMUD to try to find out what was happening. After a few months of trying to locate the problem, I started to hear the sound of running water from somewhere in my bathroom. Long story short, I contacted Armstrong and through their help and patience, it was discovered that I had an underground leak in a water pipe which kept the water heater running all the time - hence my high SMUD bill. After getting a leak detection service over to find the leak, they couldn't exactly locate the leak, only the general area of the leak. They even came out twice with new tools, but to no avail. I will mention that I live in a 1200 sq.fl. one-story condo with a slab foundation built in 1972. Finally I was faced with two choices (1) completely dig up my bathroom floor to look for the leak with no guarantee that it would be found or (2) completely re-route my plumbing to run through my ceiling and walls. I went with option #2. The job took a few days and if this kind of job could ever be described as pleasant experience, then this would be it. The two plumbers that showed up to do the work were friendly, professional and respectful of my home. They did their best to cover the flooring and furniture as they traveled in and out of the door and when opening up walls. After the job was completed and I found a few areas that needed some patching, Armstrong came out a couple of times to take care of any outstanding issues. Armstrong also helped me find a sheetrock contractor to close up the walls after the plumbing was completed. I am the kind of person that usually has a lot of questions and all the personnel involved with this job both on-site and at the office handled my questions with patience and professioanlism. After this job was completed, I needed help with replacing a faucet and they were the first company I called.

They diagnosed the problem after 45 minutes, so I felt obligated to use their service. I knew where the leak was, so it would have been nice to have the estimate prior to them performing so much work, but I was without wate so was stuck. They did a very good job and were professional. As for cost, I have no idea if what we paid was appropriate for the service provided.

I wanted to have my kitchen plumbing more efficiently plumbed and described what I wanted over the phone. I was given an estimate, how long it would take, and Armstrong's availability to do the work and I was satisfied with all answers. In the end, a friend ended up doing the work, but I wouldn't hesitate to use Armstrong for future plumbing needs.
Description of Work: I contacted Armstrong because of the great Yelp reviews. I used their chat feature and was told since she couldn't answer my question, she would have someone call me. There was a leak under the toilet located off the master bedroom. Numerous attempts were made to tighten the angle stop (shut-off valve). We decided to call a plumber to help us. The shut-off valve was replaced but there was still a very small leak. Testing indicated that there was a leak from the fill valve inside the toilet caused by a hairline crack. When the part was located the plumber reeturned and installed the replacement. Now the leak is gone. Both appointments were sheduled and the plumber (Mark) arrived punctually both times. He was very professional. The charges for the two visits appeared to be very reasonable. We would definitely use this ccompany again.
Description of Work: Replaced angle stop under toilet in master bathroom. Then replaced damaged fill valve located inside the toilet (toilet is over 20 years old and part was difficult to locate). Work area was very small between toilet and walls so it was not easily accessible but the job was completed.

Two technicians performed the work. They were able to purchase and install the correct replacement stems without tearing into the wall. (Doing so would have entailed much more work and expense.) When replacing the sink faucet we had purchased from Home Depot they pointed out that while the faucet was made with brass parts the the quality of the drain tail piece was inferior. They provided us with a high quality part at no extra charge. The cracked cleanout junction was a tricky repair but they were able to replace it without destroying any of the stucco. The new cleanout is much easier to uncap than the old one.
