I appreciated that Jacob used the least invasive methods to determine the source of the leak, instead of breaking through the wall behind the shower. He was thorough and explained everything to me. He also did a great job cleaning up and putting everything back in its place.
Description of Work: Jacob removed the face plate and scoped behind the shower faucet to see if there was water damage. He also ran tests with the water to determine where the leak was coming from. He explained everything, and cleaned up thoroughly when he was finished.

I have 2 toilets in my house, and they went bad in different ways, at the same time. I called them and I explained the situation, and they squeezed me in the same day, which was nice, but the guy came over, and he told me, that it would be $130 for the first half hour, and then it would be $130 every hour after that. He charged me more than that, because he needed some bolts or something. I think if he was going to say time plus material, he should have said that in the beginning. He sat out in his truck for a very long time after he finished, and he had something that he was reading. I went out and asked what he was reading, and he said he was writing up the bill, and I told him that I saw him some time back and he was reading something, and he said that he was reading the cost of the bolts. All he did, was take the toilet off of it's place, and replaced the seal. I have replaced it once before in a house where I was living for 23 years. Plumbers do that everyday, and why would he need to check it up. He was nice, and he cleaned up after himself. I just think that he should have told me before he began, that the material would be extra. I have a feeling that he charged me not only for the time that he worked, but also for the time that he was sitting out in the truck looking up the cost of the bolt, but he did a good job. He didn't leave me a receipt, and I didn't point it out to him, but I will give him a call and tell him to mail it out to me. It makes me wonder if he was doing something funny, when he doesn't leave me a receipt. The other toilet started to overflow, and fortunately my friend showed up and she cleaned it, because I couldn't do that. I am very grateful that he came out yesterday. He was polite, and he put the plastic things on his boots when he came out, and he was clean. It seemed to me that he spent a long time in his truck, and not giving me the receipt is just killing me.
Description of Work: I used Armstrong Plumbing yesterday. My toilet were leaking out of the base. It would stop leaking, but if I used it, and flushed it, it would leak again. The other toilet was over flowing, and he needed to clean it out.

An external water faucet on my house snapped and was leaking water pretty bad. We had to shut the water off to the house to prevent any of the water from soaking into the walls and leaving damage. When I had called the company I was able to receive a reasonable quote over the phone and make my appointment. Once the technician made it out to my house he was very friendly and was ready to tackle my problem. Once he saw what I had mentioned on the phone he got right to work and even tried to see if there was any way around cutting the pipe under the house and then capping it. I have had to use a plumber before and it had left a bad taste in my mouth but Armstrong Plumbing has been truly a great experience. Despite it being hot and later in the day my Technician was in a pleasant mood and very helpful. He explained to me exactly what he was going to do in terms that would be easily understood by most. He didn't piddle around and take his time getting tools or over looking the work area, he just got right to work. After he completed his work he even offered to take the old pipe away and cleaned up the area better then when he had arrived. I even received a follow up call from the company about a week later to see how my experience was and to make sure that there wasn't any problems or I had any concerns. It was a great comfort to know that they cared and took the time to find my number and call to check as week later.

I had just come home from a relaxing morning out with my husband. I opened the cabinet under my sink and saw liquid. I looked further and noticed that water was coming from the "P" trap. I tried to fix it myself but nothing seemed to work. By that time, my blood pressure and anxiety started climbing --mid afternoon on a Saturday of a 3-day weekend good luck getting anyone to fix the problem. I stopped and took a deep breath and called Armstrong. I've used them in the past and they were great! I was told that they would arrive between 2:00 and 5:00. Justin V arrived during that time frame, said hello and introduced himself. I showed him the problem and he tried to tighten the connections but a connecting pipe was too short. He changed the connecting pipe but it still didn't work. Next he tried a completely different "P" trap with the longer connecting pipe. Success! While he was under the sink, I asked him to tighten up my soap dispenser. He had one of the special tool that tightens plumbing connections, which is why I couldn't get it to tighten up before. Justin was in and out. I'm happy and my weekend wasn't ruined! The price was good too. Be aware Armstrong has changed their logo -- for a minute I thought I'd called the wrong company! Look for Rosie the Riveter .

They were prompt and courteous. I really like that they called a day after the service was done to ensure I was satisfied. Additionally, several weeks after the job was completed I was sent a letter checking in on the status of the repair. Great customer service and follow up-I will certainly call them for all my plumbing needs.

I contacted Armstrong Plumbing through Angie's List. They were pretty decent about getting back to me with messages. We set up an appointment for Monday the 28th of July. The guy that showed up, Milton, was a little late, but in the scheme of things, not that bad. He seemed a bit distracted, and didn't bring basic tools with him, like his tape measure. I was having a hard time connecting with him about what is was I wanted a quote on. Finally, he asked if he could use my bathroom, and told me that once he got that taken care of he would be better able to focus on the project. He was right, it did get a bit better after that! I told him that we were having issues with the clothes washer and the dishwasher backing up. We wanted to have the plumbing, and the garbage disposal, under the kitchen sink updated. Lastly, we wanted to move the hot water heater from the small pantry off the kitchen into the garage. He wrote it all down, drew pictures to remind himself of what was what, and then told me that he would get back to me (via email) on a quote.... annnnd, that was the last I've heard from him! I tried to re-contact him through the Angie's messages...nothing. I then proceeded to call the company directly. I explained what was what and told the lady that, firstly, I wanted to make sure that Milton didn't have an accident or something that was preventing him from contacting me. Secondly, is there some other reason he wasn't contacting me. The lady on the other end seemed a bit confused and didn't believe that he had any accident, but she would check and have someone get back to me. Someone did, and in a rather timely fashion, but, he was the emergency plumber for the weekend and couldn't help me at all! He told me that he would have Milton contact me. Neither of the two that I spoke with at Armstrong really seemed to care about the poor customer service they were giving me. I know that they may not have been able to fix the problems that were going on with Milton and myself, but a simple apology for the trouble I was having would've gone so way into making me think this company cared. I wish I could've had a wonderful experience like so many of their previous customers had, but their apathetic attitude isn't going to make that happen. I'll just have to keep trying and find someone that wants my business!

Dear Customer, This is so disheartening. Let me begin by saying that we profusely apologize for the apparent lack of attention to your estimate. Milton should have informed you that we are currently a full week out on our estimating and that the proposal would have taken 5-7 days to turn around. While we strive to accommodate each and every customer within reasonable time periods our schedule is full of emergencies and unknowns. This week our lead estimator was called out of the office leaving Milton to take on an extra load. We are a small family owned and operated business and at times these heavy periods can take their toll. Again, we are so sorry we have left you feeling uncared for. Milton has your estimate finished and would be happy to present it to you should you care to give us another opportunity. Thank you for your feedback.

I found Armstrong on Angie's list. They were the third plumber I had called to estimate this job. We had been having trouble with the 3" to 4" connection at the sidewalk grabbing and holding drain routers since the duplex was built in 1980. I was having the driveway replaced, so I thought it was a good time to get the connection fixed. I contacted Armstrong at 9:10am on June 30 and Milton Vance the estimator called me back at 9:18. I told him this was not an emergency and that the work had to be coordinated with the concrete company. Milton went out and looked at the job and called for more information, saying that he would have to get a camera down in the pipe to see what was going on. On July 15, after coordination with the concrete company, my travel schedule and the tenants, we agreed on July 29 as the day. Armstrong came, actually had to do more digging than they had anticipated, reburied the hole to the depth of the bottom of the concrete and left the cleanout cap at the perfect height for the new driveway. The work was left taped off, clean and neatly done. I will be using Armstrong as my plumber from now on for the duplex.

My son accidentally dropped his toy truck down the toilet, just as it was flushed. We didn't want it to clog up the sewer line, so we called a plumber. First, we called Boyd Plumbing, who came out the day after I called, refused to do the work because I had not left a check (we moved from a city where the plumbers did the work and then billed you), and left a quote of $388 (stating that they would have to take the whole toilet off and all kinds of other stuff) and instructions to call them back to reschedule the actual work. So, annoyed with that experience, I called Armstrong. They came out in a matter of hours, got the truck out simply and easily, and charged us $130. Yes, we saved $258 by calling them. Very satisfied customers, and we will be calling them next time.

The plumber, Jacob, was prompt, professional yet friendly, and very courteous. As he entered the house, he slipped on protective disposable booties to protect my floors from getting dirty, or maybe it was to protect his shoes from getting dirty, I'm not sure which. Ha! Ha! Jacob quickly determined what the problem was and made the needed repairs, explaining to me exactly what was wrong and what he was going to do to fix the problem, i.e., replace the flapper, which had worn out or become damaged. He had to improvise and use a flapper that was not made for a Toto toilet, but this saved me the hassle of ordering the Toto part and waiting for it to arrive. The improvised flapper has been working fine. The leaking noise is gone and so is the weird, loud noise coming from the tank about every 15 minutes. The cost of the part was only $22, and because Jacob was so efficient, the total cost, including labor, was only $184.50, which I think is very reasonable, especially when compared to what I have paid for plumbing jobs in the past. I was very happy with Jacob and the service he provided. I would definitely use him again if the need arises, and I would also recommend his company to my friends.
Description of Work: Toilet was constantly running and then it would make a very loud noise, as if the tank had re-filled and flushed, but the sound was not the same as the sound of the toilet flushing. I have always made my own repairs when there was a problem in the toilet's tank, but this was a Toto, and the flushing system was different than that with which I am familiar. The plumber determined that it was just a worn out flapper. He replaced the flapper with one that was not the same as the original, but it worked on my Toto anyway.

Mlke C. arrived promptly, and immediately made friends with the dog, who otherwise would have barked incessantly at the invasion of the stranger. I had tried to unscrew the spout of the bathtub in order to replace it, but it turned out that the spout was soldered on, not just screwed. Mike was able to remove the spout without affecting the rest of the plumbing and install a new spout. He would have been justified in chastising me for potentially causing damage to the pipes, but he said nothing. There was also a leak in the single-handle shower/tub valve. Since the house is 40 years old, I didn't know whether a replacement cartridge would still be available for it, but Mike found one, and replaced the cartridge. We had a kit of parts for this type of renewal, and he used those parts that would work on this job. There was a piece for the drain which he tried to replace, but the old drain piece was not coming out, and I told him not to bother. Forcing the removal might have caused new problems, which would not have been wise. During the course of his work, involving several trips to his truck, he managed to fall off the truck and give himself a bloody nose, some scrapes, and a bump on his head. I suggested that he sit down and rest for a while, He did sit for a minute or two, rinsing himself off with a garden hose, but he didn't really slow down. In all, this was an A+ experience, and I will recommend both Mike and Armstrong Plumbing to anyone.

First, I filled out a request online to get a quote to install a new alcove bathtub in my guest bathroom as well as the removal of the old tub. After a few days of no contact I called the main number. Even though no explanation as to why their own web form was ignored, they did seem eager to take care of my request. I was told an estimator would contact me. True to their word at this point, an estimator promptly contacted me a couple hours later. His last statement to me was 'Let me put some numbers together and I will get back to you.' That was a week and a half ago, two weeks since my original web request. I don't think its unreasonable to expect a simple bid to be returned within a few days. I also understand that things happen, but no contact whatsoever and left in limbo with all the other bathroom remodel plans on hold is inexcusable. UPDATE June 12, 2014 - Per their request via this review, I contacted Armstrong. From their website I initiated a chat session who took down all my details and stated someone would be calling me back. That was three days ago. My 'F' rating stands. If there was a 'G' I would be downgrading them even further. What a waste of time. And I don't appreciate it at all after giving them a chance to correct the earlier problem. Fool me once, shame on you; fool me twice, shame on me. It wont happen a third time.

Very pleased. Reasonable price, very professional. At a small extra charge (which I ok'ed), they did a "homeowner friendly" installation, replacing the sweat fittings with "shark bite" fittings that non-plumbers can manage in the future. The expansion tank was bad, and they let me know right away so that I could run over to Home Depot and buy one there (along with a couple new supply lines) rather than pay the off-the-truck price for these parts. I even got a follow-up call from their office to make sure I was fully satisfied.
Description of Work: Replaced water heater. I did the pickup and haul away.
