Mark Fisher is his name. He didn't do what he said he would do. He told me that he was going to double our R-Value in my attic. He said he was going to increase the insulation all over my attic with a certain brand of insulation material. He just blew it in there but didn't blow all over the attic, he didn't blow it all over the garage at all. Afterwards I said, "Why didn't you do above the garage" and he goes, "Oh well, because we don't normally do the garage." That was one of my problems. Another issue I had with him was I have recessed lighting in his house and when I originally contracted with him he told he was going to bring out insulative cans for the recessed lighting to prevent the heat from coming into the house through the recessed lighting outlets and he would not provide them. I paid him $1400 cash. He tried to get more money out of me.

It went extremely well. Mark, the owner, was part of the 2-man crew. He gave us a 10% senior discount, and then added an additional discount for scheduling the insulation on a day when one of his 2 crews was not already scheduled for a job. The installation was neat and tidy, and they cleaned up well afterward.
Description of Work: Affordable Insulation added R19 insulation to our attic, bringing the original R19 insulation to R38. It was the blown-in type, much better than the original haphazardly applied batt insulation originally installed. They brought extra insulation, so added that to our garage attic space.

I was delighted to find a company that would insulate my house at a reasonable price in a very timely manner. We met and signed paperwork at the end of one week for work to begin late the following week. But Bill was able to rearrange his schedule and work began the following Monday. There were a couple of slight delays along the way, with the project extending over three days instead of the two days originally discussed. But this was a minor inconvenience. The workers did an excellent job and did a good job cleaning up after themselves each day. They insulated the roof the first day and started on the walls. That day the AC kicked on for shorter times - and even shorter once the job was finished. And you could really feel the effect in the walls immediately. They made it partway down the south wall of my living room the first day - and you could put both hands on the wall, and one hand was very warm while the other hand was cool. I only wish I had done this before!

ON-going project....... I am currently working on clearing attic of some and quot;clutterand quot;....and will contact Mr. Fisher when ready to do job!
Description of Work: Met w/ Mr. Fisher at residence- He accessed the attic, and spent ~15 minutes up there. He looked at the area(s) long enough to ascertain the following: -a considerable amount of blown insulation had been displaced in multiple areas of the attic -gave me an average current insulation depth (attic) -educated me on different insulating materials/applications Provided a written estimate outlining the following: -add loose insulation to increase the bulk of existing fill by 2X to achieve a R38 insulating value -cover all lighting cans (recessed light housings) prior to placing/bulking up insulation -included placement of radiant barrier insulation on all existing knee-walls & re-placing any missing knee-wallls

Description of Work: Mixed review. I called initially to schedule someone to come out and give us an estimate. The day the person was suppose to come they hadn't showed by an hour and a half after the scheduled time. So I called and the gentleman who answered said something had come up which is why he had not showed. A phone call would've been nice. Eventually got an estimate which seemed kind of half heartedly put together (compared to the other contractor who gave us an estimate). The overall cost was very similar to the other contractor, however. Ultimately, the lack of a phone call and the less than detailed evaluation of our house prior to giving us the estimate were why we eventually went with someone else. Lastly, the folks we eventually went with also used recycled materials to insulate which also had a great appeal.

It went VERY well. I called the firm on a Thursday and they sent out a representative the next day to evaluate what needed to be done and give an estimate. The gentlemen showed up on time and went straight to work checking out the existing insulation (cellulose that had been installed over 25 years ago). My attic access is diffucult but his associate crawled up into it to get a thorough idea of the existing situation. He explained (and showed me) how the existing insulation had packed down over the years and was providing much less insulation than when it was installed. He also noted that by now the fire retardant on the original product had had lost a good bit of its efficacy and also noted (again I saw the evidence!) that rodents were finding the cellulose a great place to nest. He explained the fiberglass product they would use could be installed over the existing layer of cellulose, was fire retardant, and would not pack down thus permanently retaining its insulation properties. He also noted it would discourage rodents from nesting. (My home is old and full of nooks and crannies. Rodent exlusion from the attic space is not an option!) He provided me with a good deal of information and literature about the product he proposed they use, gave me a written estimate of the work and left. I proceeded to do some websleuthing regarding the product, its efficacy and safety and, after checking with one or two other firms, decided to give the job to Affordable. I called them on Monday, they showed up at 7:00 A.M. on Tuesday morning with a crew of two men. They helped me clear the area under the attic access panel, and carefully spread tarps over the entire area. One man entered the attic and using a very large diameter hose connected to their truck, proceeded to blow in a layer of lofy insulation to a depth of over a foot through the entire attic space. They took care not to block the bathroom vent. When finished they cleaned up after themselves and helped me put everything back. The entire procedure took about two hours. Since they finished I can feel the difference in the house. The heater is going on less often and the house feels warmer. Everyone was polite, friendly and efficient. I was very pleased with the entire experience

Description of Work: Affordable Insulation installed supplementary blown-in insulation to our 20 year old home, bringing the attic area up to an R-38 rating. There are quite a few canister lights that needed to be considered and vaulted areas of the home.

They made an inspection and got an appraisal to me shortly after I called. They returned my calls promptly and were willing to fill the holes that needed filling although it is not exactly part of their job description. My tenant is very pleased with the additional insulation and although I was not there and don't have any first hand knowledge about how tidy they were, I think she would have mentioned it if they had been unsatisfactory in any way. In comparing the bids I got, I found it helpful that Bill Fisher pointed out that fiberglass would cost more than cellulose. His bid was less than one of the bids I got for cellulose and more than another. I paid about $275 more for fiberglass and I think it is worth it.
Description of Work: They blew in enough fiberglas insulation to raise the rating from R8 to R38. They filled holes under the sink and in the garage to help keep vermin out.

We are re-roofing our home and wanted new insulation installed after old blown-in insulation was removed. We wanted it coordinated with the removal company and the roofing company so access to the attic would be from the roof to make the job go more smoothly. They came out promptly to give a bid and worked closely with the company that did the removal, and the roofers to coordinate the best time for installation. They arrived on time, did their work, and cleaned up their site. They even repaired a few places where the ductwork sealer needed repair. Mark was very helpful during the whole process. I would definetely recommend them.

William returned my call and we setup an appointment me to get a estimate. I had took some pictures of the existing insulation. Wrote down some questions. William came by the following day at the required time. He look at the multiple pictures, I fired off my questions he answered all my concerns he also look in my attic as well to get a better feel. William gave me a very reasonable price we set the date for the install. The Affordable crew came out did what they had to do. The whole project took about a half a day. The job site was cleaned up when they finished I was satisfied with the result.
