Two men arrived on time and agreed to remove 8 rose bushes, an oleander bush, and if time allows, remove some generic bushes from my front entry way. They did a great job of clearing the rose bushes, and spent a great deal of time trying to remove the oleander bush before telling me that the oleander roots were too entrenched in the bedrock and couldn't be removed. I authorized another hours worth of work to finish the oleander and to remove the bushes in the entry way. They removed one bush from the entry and told me they couldn't do anymore because the truck was full of the plant waste. I do not doubt that they worked very h****** a hot day, but I do wish they would have emptied their truck and returned to complete the job. I do wish that they didn't spend as much time on the oleander, only to leave a stump. I feel I paid for more than I got. If you choose this company, be sure to have them scope the work and ensure that the team can commit to the full job at the agreed price.

+ 0 moreOverall I was not too pleased with the quality of this work. I asked for weeding and deadheading, I got weed and plant whacking and blowing. There was an additional charge for hauling off the debris which was not discussed ahead of time, although they did compact the clippings and trimmings as much as possible to save me the expense of another load. The crew was pleasant and worked hard the entire time, I just wish they had been more careful in what they cut and whacked.

+ -1 moreI was very pleased with the 2 workers who showed up. They were very knowledgeable and fixed the sprinkler system. However, after they left, the front sprinklers will not turn on. I had told them that I was interested in lawn cleanup and I also wanted bids for planter building and I additionally was interested in regular maintenance. We have called and called and called to try to get these things done without success and I am now looking through the list again to get it done before the grass is completely dead. The problem with Angie's list is that these folks get so much business when they are on the list that they cannot seem to handle it as we have had the same experience with several providers that are on your list..just a general comment. We really liked this company but they don't have any time for us.

+ 0 moreIt was satisfactory. I didn't really feel that the individuals who showed up were prepared to work as hard as they needed to work. It was a straight forward labor job. It just wasn't that great of an effort. It was pretty slow paced and pretty casual about the approach. It was a four hour manual labor deal and as it turned out I didn't feel like I really got my money's worth in terms of the individuals. The price was good if I've got the level of work that I would have expected, but it didn't really measure up.

He asked us to email him copies of the plans which we did promptly. He confirmed the receipt of the plans. Unfortunately, he never got back to us or returned our messages. Thus he lost out on 100k job which someone else is doing now. Horrible service.

+ -1 moreThis was one of the hottest days of the year so far (the temperature was well over 100 degrees). Under the circumstances, they did a very good job . They trimmed 13 bushes and dug up one. I will call on them again for this service.
Description of Work: The company's workers arrived promptly at the agreed upon time prepared to work. They were cordial, wanted to know exactly how I wanted the bushes cut, explained to me how this would be done, the cost, approximate number of hours and the clean up procedure.

+ -1 moreThe job they did was OK. I bought the Angie's List coupon for them. I was expecting more to be completed by 2 guys in 2 hours but didn't get as much done as I thought. One guy did most of the work while the other one seemed to be the assistant. They didn't have tools to reach the branches for the high trees. And the dead leaves in the yard weren't removed as well as I was expecting. It was hard to notice that anything had changed in the yard. I'm not sure I would use them again.

We also discussed the "next step" of replacing the current flora with grass that would be appropriate for the yard since there is a maple tree that provides shade. The yard was measured to obtain a quote to replace the grass. I will consider using TLC for future work.

The price of the big deal was very good, people have wanted to charge me more for one hour. The quality was good, when I came home, everything looked very good in my backyard.

+ 1 moreCalled Total Landscape Concepts looking for a bid on planting a tree and some general sprinkler system maintenance and had a feeling the experience would be bad given that the voicemail greeting stated it would be awhile before they returned any inquiries. I should have know at that point to move on to another landscaper but I left a message anyway. After not hearing anything for a week, they finally called me back and said they would be able to stop by and look at what I needed done. After showing up an hour late, they politely listened to what I wanted done and said they would get back to me with a bid but I guess the work was beneath them and I never heard back from them. Don't bother with Total Landscape Concepts, you're not worth their time.

+ 3 moreAside of the tool rental problem, the entire job proceeded to a timely conclusion over the better part of three days. During his interview, Tim told us that he would do everything possible to accommodate our wishes. In assessing the overall job, we both agreed that Tim and his efficient three-man crew went far beyond that pledge of customer satisfaction. Just having the company owner on site was tremendously beneficial to keep lines of communication flowing. He was very open to our questions and was patient in helping us understand why certain things were being done the way that they were. He was very diligent about having his progress assessed at critical times during the job. His crew was hardworking and professional. They seem to take the machine rental problems with a grain of salt and instead tried to curb the lost time by doing other things such as sprinkler adjustments, grading, placement of bender boards, etc.
Description of Work: We was skeptical at first when talking to Tim because he didn't seem to be that responsive to us. Little did we know that he was having problems with a machine he had rented specifically for carrying out the job. The one they were using was not working right and this was the second one they had to return to the company that morning. Nothing could have been more frustrating to such a professional person at Tim. He tried his best to answer my questions while trying to repair an unrepairable tool. Finally, after three machines and considerable time lost We have to say that Tim and his team went the extra mile to make sure that everything was done right and to our complete satisfaction. Like a well oiled machine, we watched them transform our gnarly old yard grassy areas into a palette of lush green grass. After removing the old sod, Tim and his crew brought in a rotor tiller to plow deep into our very hard soil that contained lots of shale, rocks and roots. Our former lawn was only dug down about 2 inches, leaving a very hard base for grass to grow on. Tim took it down 6 inches and then, after raking and re-raking, they brought in lots of deep, dark very rich soil and mixed it in with the existing soil leaving a very healthy, nutrient packed base for the new sod. Our back yard is on a slope and Tim took extra care to make sure that it was sloped perfectly with no low or high spots which I really appreciated, being somewhat of a perfectionist at heart. At that point Tim worked with me on the curves for the lawn. He ended up doing exactly what I had envisioned giving me the extra planting area for flowers that I wanted. The next day was laying down the sod. Tim uses the highest grade of sod that was not even cut until that morning. This really pleased us knowing that the sod was not just laying around drying out. After the sod was laid, Tim and his crew used a sod roller making sure the new sod was nice and flat with hardly a seam showing. There were a few sprinkler heads that were too high and Tim took care of that too. He also programmed our sprinkler system so the sod would be watered correctly. We have a Boxer puppy that is now 14 months old and very curious as to what was going on in his yard. The whole crew including Tim gave him lots of pets insuring him that everything would be fine. Because Baron (Boxer ) could not be on the lawn for a few weeks while it roots properly, Tim and his crew brought out 6 foot high fencing and put it up so Baron would have some space in the planted areas to go off the deck which also had fencing. They even put up one fence with a gate so we had easy access from the deck to the lower patio area. We appreciated everything he did to make our experience a very positive one. I would highly recommend Tim to anyone having yard work of any sort done. I would welcome anyone who would like to see our yard. In the future we will have some other things done and we will definitely call Tim at Total Landscapes Concept.

+ 1 moreThe crew was running a little late but called and arrived as presented. We spent approximately 15 - 20 minutes reviewing my irrigation system, including the location of the valves. After the initial consultation was over, the crew started their time. I had contracted for a total of three hours. Since there were two people on the crew, they were to spend one and a half hours on the project. They went thru my sprinklers one station at a time, adjusting and changing our sprinkler heads as necessary. They split the work up nicely so that one person was not just watching the other do the work. They finished right at the hour and a half with all the stations. The pre-paid coupon came with $25 in parts. They used more of their parts so charged me an additional $10 which I felt was more than reasonable.
Description of Work: Conducted a review and audit of my six-station irrigation system. Adjusted heads and spray, and extended lines as necessary. Supplied parts as needed.

+ 2 moreWe found Total Landscape Concepts on Angie?s List when browsing for artificial turf installers. My husband called and spoke with the owner, Tim, and he let him know that they were very busy but if we let him know what we were thinking of he could get us a quote and a timeline. My husband sent over the info we had and Tim came back with a quote. We originally thought it was a little high, but really didn?t know how much it would cost in the first place to install this type of landscaping. Tim said that he would encourage us to call around and get other quotes so that we would know this was a fair deal. We called 3 other places and Tim?s quote was under all of theirs, so we felt confident with the pricing. Tim let us know that he had an opening in his schedule for a month and a half out and if something opened up sooner he would let us know, so we scheduled it. Tim came out a couple of weeks later to measure the yard as well as bring us samples of turf to choose from. He was very professional, informative, friendly, and reassuring that this would be an investment that we would get a lot out of. Tim and his team arrived the day we had them scheduled and got right to work. His 2-3 employees were very courteous, clean, professional, and friendly. Tim checked in with my husband throughout the day discussing some items like drainage lines that were already established under the soil, previous piping, drip irrigation, etc. By the end of day two everything was complete and the yard was transformed. They cleaned everything up and even took out some extra dirt piles we had in the yard from before, and sprayed down the patio and swept up the whole area. We were beyond thrilled with the outcome. What we really appreciated was all the extra work and care that Tim and his team provided, beyond just the turf installation. We had an eye sore of a hose spout and sprinkler controls that he changed out and re-did the drip irrigation for the rest of the yard so that we wouldn?t have to dig anything up in the future. He even used the remaining crushed granite material he had to cover the dirt path and give the yard a finished look. Thanks to Total Landscape Concepts, we were ready to host a party that weekend. We highly recommended Tim and his team and are very happy with the outcome!

I guess there was a difference in the amount of price that they charge compared to the amount of price if you buy it off Angie's List. They charged me less. They said they normally charge like $149. So that's interesting. They answered the call and did show up when they said they were going to. Considering the amount of time that they were here, which is 4 hours, I think that they probably got a little bit more done.

+ -1 moreThe men worked hard, kept busy, and were professional & friendly. My only grumble is I had them scheduled for arriving at 1:00 p.m because I had a weekly Friday a.m appointment. They called my husband about 9:30 to say they would be at our house by 10:00. Fortunately, my husband was home so he could give them some direction after calling me and interrupting my meeting to make sure as many of my requests were covered as possible since I wasn't able to make it home until a few minutes before they finished. I was frustrated with the schedule mix up because I felt time was wasted in the scramble to adjust to the earlier arrival, but I would still call Total Landscape Concepts for future services because they competently completed the tasks we were able to fit into the time frame & they had pleasant attitudes.

+ -1 moreWell, the two young guys who showed up for 1.5 each of work on my Angie's List 3 hr deal- I explained that getting rid of the leaves was my top priority, then weeds then trimming. I did the trimming of the roses in the sun & brought the recyle bins around the corner of the block to them to fill. They were very nice, but I was working hard & fast to get it done during the time frame. They had time for a smoke (or two) even in my yard. The time ran out (no warning there) quite a bit before the job did. Since the leaves were the main reason I had them come, I had to pay extra for them to finish the job & haul them away. The recycle bins were left in the middle of my yard which I had to haul back around the corner of my block to my front yard. They left broken wood tree supports on the ground and a very expensive shovel (no one has called about it). Nice guys but not very fast or detail oriented- requires supervision & direction & a time keeper.
