Description of Work: Surewest provides my cable, internet, and landline. I've been with Surewest for about 7 years. When it was a small company, customer service was excellent. But now that it has become Consolidated Communications, I feel customer service has gone down hill. I am searching for another provider and thought ATT would be good but a friend of mine who has ATT said ATT is just as bad. I haven't had any recent service but I had a problem with my online bill paying which I have never had before with Surewest.

Surewest, now Consolidated Communications, Internet which is Fiber to the house is by far the fastest and most reliable Internet provider I have ever used. I have been a customer since 2002 when they first made Fiber available in East Sacramento and have never been without internet for more than a few minutes even during serious storms that have killed power in the area. I worked until my battery on my laptop went dead. In 2006 i moved to a newer home in the same area and they had me up before I was moved in and never lost connection through an extensive remodel. I couldn't be happier with this provider. The few times I have needed any support, usually because I was adding something on my home network, the Customer Service has always been excellent and completely professional.

Went with Surewest since they were the only internet service provider in our area at the time (now WAVE is available). We bundled with cable tv as they offered a deal for bundled service. While the price during the promotion period (1 year) is ok, the normal regular price, I believe, is a bit exorbitant. Installation was great. The technician came on time and installed the internet and two tvs to cable professionally (he even wore booties as we don't wear shoes in our home). There was a small issue with the cable modem placement (not his fault), but the tech gave me his number and told me to call him and he will come back to adjust this when we were ready. Sure enough, a few weeks later when we called and left a message, he called back and we set up a time for him to come back and he quickly fixed the issue. We have not had an issues with drops in speed or loss of cable service so far. We did notice that the cost of service has crept up a bit (even while we are in the promotional period) - something to do with charging more for local channels (which can't be adjusted).

I pay $55 / month for 50 MBps down but this really only seems to be the case during off-peak hours (eg the middle of the night). From what I understand, everything is oversubscribed / oversaturated in my area (Overland Park) so this seems to be the best available (not a fan of TWC).

Connection and work was done swiftly. However, the technician used my personal Ethernet cords for connection versus new one's he was carrying. After installation the technician called back accusing me of stealing his power drill he used during the installation. Since then the equipment has routinely broken down. I've actually turned one box in three times. The main cable box has to continually get reset in order to work properly. I'm waiting for my early termination fee to expire so I can switch back to comcast.

I had Surewest television services for over two years in addition to phone and internet services. Customer service was always good. The television service was good but not great. I switched from DirecTV since Surewest had a great promotion. I was willing to put up with SLIGHTLY lesser quality in exchange for a better price. However, when the promotion price was over and the price was comparable (if not slightly more) than DirecTV I went back to DirecTV (especially with DirecTV's great promo offer). I figured if I was going to pay the same price, I might as well get more features, etc. I was disappointed that when I contacted surewest and asked if they would reduce the price in exchange for another contract. I was told no and no effort was put into trying to keep me as a customer. Truly, having been a loyal Surewest customer for years, even a bit off the bill would have satisfied me. Of course, a month after cancelling I start getting the "We want you back" mail. Too little, to late.

It was alright; they were a little too high priced and I cut back on my budget and so I went down and eliminated cable TV, cable internet, and phone. It was a little mis-leading at first. When I signed up, it was a triple package which included the TV, internet, and phone. It was supposed to be around $115 a month but the bill came in much higher and they explained that was because it was effectively considered a landline for some reason, and so there was a lot of extra taxes. The one area that they were good, was when I went into their office, those people were very good. They handled any problems I had right away; no problem. It was easier to go meet and speak to them face to face. There were only one or two technical problems I had to call for but when I went in to the service center, they were very good. I had a problem with one of their boxes one time and they immediately took care of it; no questions asked. When I went in to discontinue the service too, they took care of it right away, not questions asked even then.

Typical CYA....not there problem it is in MY computer. Had my tech spend an hour cleaning up McAfee and Malwear. So now it is Surewest/WaveBroadband to get my email. But no.....I didn't save screen shots of showing what the tech did???? Therefore NO PASSWORD! How do you get email? QUIT THEIR SERVICE. Typical scenario where Surewest/WaveBroadband gobbled up other internet companies. Now they ate a big cumbersome company. The h*** with the customer!!!!

You can call Surewest anytime of the day or night and someone is always available to talk to. They are fabulous because they always walk you through on what you need to do. They are always available and I have nothing but good things to say about them. I really like their availability.

Early Sept our wireless was out and I work from home. I was unable to send critical emails and was trying to call Surewest in between conference calls. I went through the prompts and ended up 16th caller in the queue. Meanwhile, I tried using my iPad to get on the chat on their website. The chat gave me some warnings that I might need to type in all caps, which I did, but it was a slow process. I did this when the tech came on, however, they didn't wait for me to finish and disconnected the chat. I did this 4 more times before successfully telling a tech that I had work emergencies, I had to have someone come work on my line. Tech said this was a level 2 and they were unable to assist. About 50 minutes later, I got through on the phone and the tech said the would have to schedule someone to come out and that day was full.
Description of Work: We have been with Everest for years and since their transition to Surewest and now Corporate ownership, their service, price and customer support has become a mess. Our cable boxes and wireless Internet have had multiple problems since late summer and it is worth your life to get anyone on the phone here now. The online chat is worthless and constantly disconnects. I somehow started receiving an email to pay my bill, but the email only contained the total due. There used to be a place to log in on the website to see our bill, but this no longer exists, so I'm back to sitting on hold for an explanation of the constantly rising charges. I'm tired of sitting on hold, while this corporation collects our monthly payment for mediocre service and lack of response. I'm using Angie's List to find someone who acts like they want our business.

Up until this year, they never had any problems anymore. Their price is comparable.

They have good internet service because of their fiber optic technology. I'm not satisfied because I think they're a little pricey.
