This is a great company to do business with. We obtained a bid from two companies and Solar Universe was lower by $6000. Lenny was great to work with and they did what they said! The process was fairly quick and the results were great. The best part was the terrific people in this organization

It was my first time using them. They were cost-effective. I was pretty busy when they did the quote. When they did the quote, they were able to do it virtually. I talked to the person on the phone and we had a meeting on the internet. He walked me through everything and I could ask questions. They did a good work.

I was interested in solar and got a bid from a competitor and found the price had gone down significantly from what I had looked 3 years or so ago. I reached out to Solar Universe because of their high ratings on angies list. I have gotten quotes on solar on more than one occasion so I don't really need the same attention that folks new to the process need. The first thing that I liked about this company is they offered to meet in person, or virtually. I love the option to meet virtual. They called me on the phone, and via computer I accessed a site where they shared documents and walked me through everything and answered questions. This was a huge time save for me and I was very impressed. They also offered in person for folks that prefer that method but this was right up my alley. I was under time constraints because I wanted to get signed up for a system before the SMUD rebate was cut. They worked with me throughout the process to get me the information I needed so that they could process paperwork before the deadline. I like options. Jon started with the initial quote which was his recommendation based on my energy use (if i remember correctly 22 panels). I wanted to be able to compare against a competitors bid so asked for a 24 panel bid in addition. They were clearly cheaper (by several thousand dollars). Jon put together several more bids for me (even worked during the weekend) before I settled on Aleo panels and enphase inverters. I have to rave about Jon's suggestion about the Enphase inverters. One of the things that was important to me was being able to monitor power production (I wanted to be sure I was getting the power I was supposed to so that problems could be addressed if there were any). I was also concerned with warranty (panels usually have a 25 year or so warranty and inverters are usually 10. The Enphase inverts are very cool. There is actually an individual inverter for each panel. This optimizes production and if one panel fails, or an inverter fails, you can identify the issue. They also have a 25 year warranty which was astonding. I did run into a snag with financing. I don't feel there are a lot of solar friendly products out there. I have average credit (698 credit score) and make a pretty good salary (60-80k). I wasn't only able to qualify for a portion of the loan I wanted and decided to hold off, pay down a couple of cards, and try again. Jon has been very patient, following up on the dates I have requested. I should know soon if I can qualify with my new score later this week. If not, Jon did mention a new program coming to sacramento county in the fall that allows you to tied the solar panels and payments in with property taxes. I'm confident that working with Jon and Solar Universe, I will have solar panels by the end of the year.

We were very pleased with our purchase and installation of a solar system from Solar Universe. From the salesperson, to the office staff and the installers, there were a lot of people involved and all were professionals who went out of their way to accommodate us. They showed up when the said they would. They kept us in the loop so we knew what was going on with the project. The work was done in a timely manner. The construction site was kept clean of debris - no mess to clean up later. They treated our property the way they would treat their own, down to painting the conduit green along the roof to match our green metal roof and the siding on the barn. When done, they took the time to walk us through what we needed to know about the system.

He was a really nice guy. He was not pushy and fully explained everything based on my home. He told me he could cut my electricity in half. However, we did not move forward with the project.

After shopping online for products and making sure I understood the technologies and products available, I shopped with several Solar Companies and had onsite quotes provided from two companies. Both companies provided quotes for several designs. Solar Universe was more flexible with the design, products manufactured that I chose, had better pricing by about 15% and convinced me that they would do a professional job. One of my great concerns were the roof penetrations on my concrete tile roof.Being retired, I was able to monitor the quality of the job and it's employees. There were no sub-contractors used. I was pleased with the quality of the work, professionalism of the workers and support staff and the end result. They showed up on time and finished on time. The Office called and coordinated the installation and communications was great. There were no hidden costs. I used the Federal PVWatts website to calculate my output from various design and found it to be very accurate. The design by Solar Universe is meeting the outputs that they said the design would provide.I would recommend this company.
