The roof on my house was 37 years old and in need of replacement. I had had minor repairs done over the years, but after last winter's storms I couldn't risk leaks or damage by waiting another year. I initially met representatives from Bob Jahn's at the Sacramento Home and Landscape Expo in early 2023. I got four estimates over the spring for a new roof and gutters/downspouts and without question it was the customer service and salesmanship of Ryan that instilled me with the confidence to select Bob Jahn's. Ryan took actual measurements rather than "eyeballing" the roof, answered my questions, and had great follow-up communications when I had subsequent questions. The installation took a few months after scheduling due to high season, but the job went smoothly. I had quite a bit of dry rot that had to be remediated for the roof installation and the new paint job I would be getting after the roof. The roof I selected is an SRI 20+ roof. It looks great and will keep my house better insulated for many years. I would recommend Bob Jahn's Roofing without hesitation.
Description of Work: Old roof tearoff, dry rot remediation, new roof and gutter/downspout installation.

Bob Jahn’s Roofing Reviews I am sitting beneath a very large hole in our dining room wall and ceiling as I write this. In May of 2022, Bob Jahn’s Roofing installed a new roof on our home. Just 7 months later the interior dining room ceiling of our home began to show evidence of water damage. After the latest rains in March, we witnessed further evidence of interior water damage on dining room walls/ceiling and damage to the exterior plaster wall. We then hired a former general contractor and city inspector to conduct a water test solely on the gable flashing of our home, and it showed evidence that the flashing work installed by Jahn’s Roofing in 2022 had failed. As part of the water test, our hiree opened up the dining room wall and ceiling to observe whether water was entering the structure from the down gable roof area. It was. The water testing showed water actively coming into the attic and wetting the plates and studs etc. We contacted Jahn’s Roofing on April 3, 2023 to remedy the situation. Jahn’s Roofing immediately agreed to do so the same day and had a construction company contact us to schedule inside plaster and drywall repairs; Jahn’s Roofing also deployed an employee to conduct external repairs the next day. When Jahn’s Roofing was on site on April 4, 2023, their employee removed the original caulking on the gable flashing and replaced it with new black caulking. He stated that the white caulking installed by Jahn’s Roofing in April 2022 was an inferior product to the black replacement caulking material he installed that day. While breaking out the cracking/crumbling white caulk material the employee stated: “It must have been a bad seal… See, this caulking shouldn’t even do this, like break up like that. I’m just being honest…I’ll need to make another trip once it’s cured (his newly installed black caulk) and dried and water test it.” He removed all of the white caulk material from the entire length of the down gable roof area which I personally observed while standing on a ladder. I asked him: “So you’re saying that it was just the bad caulking?” to which he replied, “Yeah.” We have this conversation on video. Then, a few days later, instead of returning after the caulking had cured in order to perform a water test, Jahn’s Roofing switched tack and suddenly claimed that the water damage to our home was due to the attic vent. Today they are refusing to cover the cost of repairs. We have opened a complaint with the Contractors State License Board to hold this company accountable to do the right thing.

Buyer beware of Bob Jahn’s Roofing, CSLB#400569. Our roofing project that began on April 4, 2022 still remains incomplete as of 5/17/22. We live in a 76-year-old home with major dry rot damage that needed to be fixed prior to roof install. Bob Jahn’s Roofing neglected to recommend needed repairs on dry rot once the roofs were open, and has refused to absorb any of the cost for this mistake ever since. In addition they have been harassing us for payment and they have issued a pre-lien on our home while we have been trying to get this matter resolved. On Monday, April 4, 2022 after the demo/tear-off crew finished midday (around 12 PM), no representative of Bob Jahn’s Roofing walked us through the property in order to discuss the dry rot that needed to be fixed and/or replaced in order for the project to be completed per contract: “DRY ROT: If there is dry rot, a change order will be issued, and all will be replaced after approval from customer.” No “approval from customer” was sought on either Day 1 or Day 2. Instead, on Monday, April 4, 2022 a vague and incomplete change order was issued by Bob Jahn’s Roofing. We signed Change Order 1 for thousands of additional dollars on the morning of April 5, 2022 in good faith, assuming that all dry rot would be repaired prior to the installation of the roofs. It was not. The roofs were installed and the dry rot was not repaired. Bob Jahn’s Roofing did not repair essential rafter tails prior to the installation of the gutters. In fact, when the gutter installation team arrived they said they could not hang the gutters on such damaged rafter tails—“it’s common sense,” they said pointing to the soft, damaged wood—and left the work site within 15 minutes. On Tuesday, April 12, 2022, a Bob Jahn’s Roofing team member came on site and provided a detailed accounting of what was completed and what was not completed by the team in order to fulfill its obligations under contract, as well as under Change Order 1. On April 13, 2022, we sent a detailed email (“OUTSTANDING roof repairs prior to gutter install”) along with a Google Drive full of photographs and videos detailing the damage that was still outstanding. Instead of seeking to fix their mistakes and absorb the costs, Bob Jahn’s Roofing instead sent another change order requesting thousands of dollars more to complete the project. On Friday, April 22, 2022, Bob Jahns, the owner of Bob Jahn’s Roofing and another representative performed a walk-through inspection of our dry rot. Regarding all of the dry rot on the detached garage, Bob Jahns said that all that was needed in order to finish the garage was “some pressure washing and painting.” Some pressure washing and painting?! Bob Jahns ignored the fact that on April 12, his team had marked with an “X” all of the rafter tails and rake boards that had dry rot and needed to be fixed—there are 14 rafter tails and 2+ rake boards that need to be fixed. At this point, since Bob Jahn’s Roofing has failed to perform under contract, and has failed to adequately complete Change Order 1, we are seeking to finish roof repairs from another company and seeking to recover costs from Bob Jahn’s Roofing. While Bob Jahn’s Roofing has agreed to cover SOME costs that were a result of their error, on May 13, 2022 the home failed to pass inspection with the City. Given that failure, Bob Jahns Roofing still refuses to cover all the costs that are their responsibility in order to close the permit and pass inspection. If this matter cannot be resolved in a satisfactory manner, we will be opening a complaint with the Contractors State License Board and the Better Business Bureau.

I own several homes and have dealt with many companies over the years. I've learned to not become complacent by assuming that one good experience with any service provider means they have maintained a high standard. Bob Jahn however is the exception to this rule. Bob Jahn's company has worked on 4 of my homes. Each time Bob knew upfront he would have to compete for my business and each time Bob rose to the occasion. I'm now convinced that Bob Jahn's roofing pricing and quality of work can't be beat! Bob Jahn's roofing crew always arrives on time. Roofing is a messing job but I can assure you that you will not even find a nail in the grass when the job is complete (they actually roll a magnet over your lawn to pick up nails!) Additionally and perhaps most importantly was having a foreman or lead man on the job site throughout the project. Your questions or concerns are addressed immediately by the foreman and/or Bob Jahn. Warranty work with many companies can be challenging. I've heard many excuses over the years for example: and quot; The company was sold, you need to provide proof of maintenance for warranty to be valid and of course my personal favorite, and quot;we need the original receipt.and quot; Jahn's roofing returned to my home after 5 years to address an issue I had with my roof. No excuses, no placing blame, no request for original receipt. My roof was repaired as promised. That is a businessman with integrity!

They're awesome, awesome, awesome. I recommend them to everybody right now. They were like half the cost of most of the other bids I got for the same products. He was very reasonably priced. They were prompt. They were there when they said they would be there. By 10:30 in the morning the day they did it, the workers that were taking the roof off were done and gone. Because there might have been rain - there was a rain prediction, the roof wasn't finished but it was all sealed just in case it rained that night. They were friendly and worked with me because we had to move the date to do it around a bit. What he says is correct, he does more roofs than anybody else. That's why he can keep his prices lower. It took them two days to do the roof and then about a day to do everything else.
Description of Work: I used Bob Jahn's Roofing. They did the roof, they did insulation, they did the gutters, they did a solar fan in the attic and they did solar tubes for me.

My one story house, with garage, would be about 1300-1400 sq ft. He put down plastic to catch debris from the old roof; the crew cleaned up and I was very satisfied. I am late doing this review but would not hesitate to highly recommend Bob Jahn. He was wonderful to work with, prompt and did an excellent job. And squeezed my job in during the holidays and between rain storms.
Description of Work: I had been driving around looking at house roofs on and off for weeks, making notes which ones (colors, styles) I liked or did not like. However, it was impossible to get the manufacturer or specific product from the road!!! One house had a roofer working - which turned out to be Bob Jahn. After talking with the owner of the home, getting other references, and a quote from Bob I hired him. But still needed to choose a roof. Bob was "Mr. Patience", driving me around the area and telling me about practically every roof and keeping me and his wife highly entertained with his irreverent comments about many of the roofing jobs we saw!!! Bob removed about 3 layers of old roof and put on new roof. He also added more roof vents, and spray painted all galvanized roof vents, stacks to blend with the roofing material.
