I am extremely happy with the job. At night I still put on the lights sometimes just so I can admire the beauty of the work. Tommy (the owner and person who provided the quote) was a quick study and able to understand what I did and didn't know about what I wanted. As someone with no experience with this industry, I was looking for someone who was a professional who would not be condescending or dismissive about my questions or what I didnt know. The quote that GTL provided was the most complete quote i received (I had five others). What I appreciated about the quote was the specificity and detail it provided. For instance, it noted that two coats of paint would be applied ( other quotes didn't say how many). Also, it specified the type of paint for each area ( i.e. semi gloss paint in kitchen; flat paint on celings) (again, no one else did that). The reason this is important is I wanted to know that whoever I hired knew what they were doing and or course this is easy to check out. The quote also listed the warranty (no one else did this either). The crew was friendly and worked well together. The other issue I was concerned about was I was not exactly sure of the colors I wanted in a few rooms. Carlos (The foreman) came to the rescue and I loved the outcome. His suggestion for the master bedroom was not what I was thinking and it turned out better than I could have imaged. Same with another room where I was looking to have it lighter and he suggested a little darker. They also did a good job on repairing some rain-damaged dry wall. And last but not least, Alicia was the go-to person that kept everything on track. She checked in to make sure everything was going well and seemed genuinely concerned for my satisfaction. A+ and I am a picky person. I will be using GTL in the future for other construction projects. Can not say enough good things!

GTL is a great contractor to work with. Tommy and Alicia are easy to communicate with and clearly explained the work to be done. The foreman helped us pick the trim colors for our house by making some suggestions and applying some sample colors. My original scope of work was to have my house painted but along the way GTL discovered significant dry rot that needed repair. They were able to get the repairs done in a couple days and resume with the painting project. Overall the house looks much better. The crew worked really hard to get it all done within a week. One small issue is with incidental painting of anything other than the house. My garage has two mesh vent openings that were not closed off before painting. Paint was sprayed through the openings and onto stuff inside my garage. No serious damage but a lot of my time to clean off the paint before it dried. Overall a good experience with good results and a good contractor to deal with.

Tommy, Carlos, and crew did a fantastic job on my project. Every piece of work that this crew did turned out great. This entire crew is customer focused, professional, and conscientious, in addition to being highly skilled. Very high quality work done on time and at a reasonable price. A quick word on the customer focus. During one phase of my project I had to reschedule some painting. I had a business deal that was pinching me for time so I had to reschedule on that morning. GTL didn't complain about it, and they had every right to since they had an employee on the way. They allowed me to reschedule and were very flexible about it. Now, when was the last time you had a contractor not complain when they were completely justified in doing so, and what does that tell you about how they value your business? Big kudos to them for this.

Tommy came to our house and gave us a bid. Their price was a bit higher than some other bids we received, but I chose them to the positive reviews of their work. They scheduled the work to be done about a week later. He said it might take 2 days, but they ended up finishing in one. Their painter, Sam, stayed late to get everything done the first day. The quality of the work is amazing. The molding has no imperfections and is painted perfectly as well. It really made a great difference in our house. We will use them again in the future when we install molding in our other rooms.

The job was done efficiently in the time frame we expected. Took about 3.5 days for everything. Caulking was done as needed. The colors we chose for the house was very close to what it had been previously, except we had changed the color on certain parts (the trim at the roof line, and the back door) from dark charcoal to white, so those parts ended up needing three coats, which increased the price a bit. However, as Angie's List members we had been given a $400 discount, which made GTL the best deal for us, plus, they had already done a big interior job for us recently, so we knew the quality of the work we would be getting. We are very happy with the result!. The house looks great and we are now ready for the winter weather!

Estimator was prompt, courteous and checked out the scope of the work. I received a timely estimate that was $1800 over the next highest bid! I can only assume the company did not want this job; but it is too bad they wasted my time and theirs.

I contacted GTL when I needed some urgent work done (dry rot during a door replacement that was beyond the expertise of the door installation company). My door opening was sealed by plywood and I could not proceed with the door installation until the dry rot was repaired. At the time I called GTL, I didn't even know the plywood had been placed, so I thought my home was not secured. Alicia from GTL immediately called another contractor that they knew of, GTL, asked and asked them to respond. Within 10 minutes of calling her, I had a message from her that she had contacted Jason from 3 D and that he could come out the following evening to assess the problem (see more about the great 3D experience under my review for that company). All of this from a contractor that I didn't end up using. You don't find this much anymore and I am so impressed with GTL that they did this for me.

Alicia first contacted us and let us know that they weren't available right away due to an upcoming trip but would be out to do an estimate as soon as they got back (which they did). Tommy and his assistant were professional and did an excellent job on the repairs. His estimate was mid-range of our 3 bids and we went with GTL because of the recommendation on Angie's list, a good feeling we got when we met with Tommy and when we talked with Alicia, and the detailed estimates that they gave us. There was a slight adjustment to the original estimate due to the extra dry rot but it was very minimal and fair. (Tommy had let us know that extra dry rot might be discovered and told us up front what the hourly charge would be.) Also, Tommy left us the extra wood so I could perform some minor repairs myself that were easy enough for me to complete.

Everything went well. They were there when they said they would be and did a good job. Also, having them paint the interior of another house and replace 3 exterior doors.

Tommy Lewis is the guy I dealt with. It’s a construction company, but he does remodeling, molding and stuff like that. He was just exceptionally good and absolutely outstanding. I found him on Angie’s List. Alicia is his wife. I spent about $4200 or $4600 for his services. I have an old house which is a 1950’s house that had been badly neglected. So, there was a tremendous amount of preparation work. I had one company repair some siding and when Tommy came in to do the painting, he had to do a lot of repair work, sanding, caulking and doing the foundation for painting. A lot of painters can’t do it or won’t do. The quality of his service was absolutely outstanding. His friendliness and communication were outstanding as well. Everything was done the way I wanted. In fact, he did an even better job than I would have expected. I wanted a lighter molding put around my front door. The other painting contractors that I had interviewed said it couldn’t be done, but Tommy said that he could do it. He did it and it’s just gorgeous. I would give him 13 A’s for the overall experience. When it comes to the price, he wasn’t the cheapest. In fact, I wanted some special paint and that increased the amount. However, I felt that his price was very reasonable for the amount of work that had to be done and his willingness to do it. He was very professional. I would use his services in the future too.

Overall, it went great. The quality of the work was excellent throughout. Tommy gave us good suggestions when he did the initial visit and we especially liked how meticulous he was, treating it as if it was his own property. They showed up when they said they would, and did the work they promised to do. Also, kudos to his wife, Alicia, who kept up the great communication. She kept us in the loop, made sure all our questions were answered in a timely fashion, and was always cheerful, no matter what the latest complication was. Perhaps he needs to give her a raise! ;) Communication is THE key to good business relationships. GTL was inconvenienced from the get-go due to delays of another contractor who was doing the tile and carpeting, so we had to change work dates right off the bat. Then a second delay (same problem) occurred, but we decided to go ahead with what we had planned with GTL so they didn't have to keep backing it up, as I am sure it was interfering with other planned jobs. Despite the difficulties in us trying to coordinate two separate contractors, Tommy was always willing to talk to us and help us in whatever way was necessary. We appreciated his patience and professionalism.

As stated above, we had GTL come out in 3 stages. Each time, the experience of dealing with Alicia, Tommy and Carlos was first class. Alicia made the estimate process painless and easy to understand. Tommy and Carlos were not only first-rate professions, they were always open to suggestions and performed all of the work promised on-time and when it was convenient for us. The quality of the painting and crown moulding made our home look even more beautiful. I addition, one of Alicia and Tommy's outstanding qualities was their sense of humor...things always seem to go better when there's a smile on everyone's face!!! I would recommend GTL in a heartbeat!!!

The job took a little longer than originally estimated, but I think it was because there was so much prep to do to spray the cabinets and woodwork spread over three rooms. They arrived on time and worked hard all day every day they were here, and never left a mess behind. I had absolutely no complaints about how they did anything. They also returned promptly to do some touchup work that I hadn't noticed before they left.

GTL Construction owner Tommy Lewis (an omen, as my dear friend Tom Lewis had just passed away) came to our home to discuss my project and dream. He understood my needs to get the heavy home improvements done (dry rot repair, prep and paint) before our new metal roof and solar system was installed. We also had a short window of time because of the other contractors (roofing company and solar company, as well as personal business travel and vacation plans). We went over many details, most of which were all noted and addressed in the contract. The contract came within a day or so from what I remember. The contract identified key items we had discussed (I am an engineer and very detail oriented). Of three bids, Tommy was first, the second was still do when I decided to run with GTL. Thje third cam well later and much higher than Tommy's quote. The other two were actually much higher, and certainly not as comprehensive. Ironically, I simply knew from day one GTL was the company I wanted to work on my home. Not waiting for the other quotes was the right choice! I want to tell you all about the project, but am limited on time. But trust me, I could write many, many, many good things. It went like this (all of which was basically done in my absence as I was in China on travel). They came in and power washed the home. They prepped the volumes of bad paint and removed a dozen windows of weather/rotted window trim and roof facia. They replaced I would say nearly 150 sq. feet of wood p***** damaged cedar siding, calked the entire house (where needed), applied a paint chip-stop application, primed and painted the entire house. My wife was amazed by the work done by Tommy’s crew. When I returned from China, I was also very impressed. I noticed a couple missed items. Immediately they were addressed. There were a few other issues that I also felt were overlooked (and understandably too by the way) and Tommy also took care of those items (at a day’s additional work by one of his senior crew) and at his expense. The bottom line, the house looks like new at a price impossible to beat. I will have Tommy and company back for more work on my home…..

Tommy's crew showed up to paint our 8 foot six panel interior doors (18 doors). They primed and sanded the doors and then applied two coats of paint. The doors were painted in the garage after they set up a plastic bubble to paint the doors in to contain the paint. Then the doors were rehung. At this point I noticed that most doors had rough spots on them. I showed Tommy and he agreed that his guys hadn't done a good job. They had sprayed the doors too closely together and adjoining doors had gotten overspray on them. Tommy offered to have another crew come out and redo the doors. This involved another full day of removing the doors, sanding and spraying them and then rehanging the doors. But Tommy is a perfectionist and always about making the customer happy. He had another crew come out and redo the doors. They look great now. I am a big fan of this company and Tommy.

This company is AWESOME! Tommy, his wife Alicia and their crew were outstanding with the responsiveness of the estimate and answering questions, timeframe of work, and the punctuality of getting the job done in a timely matter. The quality of workmanship is outstanding. We are so pleased with the outcome that we will definitely use GTL Construction for any possible future projects. The honest and integrity of the company goes beyond words. In this day and age to find such a company is truly a treasure.

Alicia was our initial contact and she helped set up an appointment for Tommy to come and give us an estimate. On the day of the estimate, Tommy's wife and business associate, Alicia, called to let us know that Tommy was running a little late and would be at our home shortly. Once Tommy arrived, we were impressed with him as he was most apologetic and very courteous. He proceeded to talk about the different crown moulding styles and patiently answered our questions. After the meeting concluded, he promised an email with the quote. We received the email that very evening, which helped us make our decision and get the ball rolling. When it came time to get the project started, we allowed Tommy to complete the work while we were away from home by giving him access to our garage remote. Tommy is very personable and trustworthy -- you certainly can not say that about many contractors (if any). Because we have a small dog and we were concerned that our dog would constantly bark at Tommy while he worked, we left Tommy a note saying that if the dog became troublesome to go ahead and bribe him with treats. Upon returning home, we found a note from Tommy saying that the treats were really yummy. We thoroughly enjoyed Tommy's great sense of humor! We were thrilled with the work Tommy had done as his work is clearly done to perfection! It is obvious he takes great pride in his craft. We greatly appreciated his beautiful work! Alicia and Tommy complement each other very well and truly know how to run a business. It's a win-win situation when you have these two on board for your projects! We are already planning our next project to have Tommy install crown moulding in our living room and hallway. We'd also like to get new doors. It's a great relief to know that we'll be able to rely on Tommy's expertise and Alicia's professionalism and get some more home projects completed at last.

Tommy arrived on time to give us a quote on drywalling the tv alcove. While he was here I asked if he could shorten the mantle to just go over the fireplace. He sent us a quote the next day. I thought that it would be nice to have the entire mantle removed and a new surround mantle built. I e-mailed Tommy and within 1 day he returned a quote. He thought it would take about 4 days to complete and we scheduled a date to begin the project. Tommy arrived on time and worked right through the day building the mantle, he also built a tent out of plastic to protect the room from dust before beginning the work.. The next day Carlos came to drywall and texture the wall. The next 2 days, Edgar arrived on time to paint the mantle and wall. The mantle took 6 coats of paint . Tommy came the last day to inspect the work and make sure we were happy with everything - we are beyond happy with the project. Tommy and his team are very professional, punctual and work hard the entire time except for a short break for lunch. We plan on having the outside of our house painted within the next year and will certainly call Tommy for the job. It was also a pleasure corresponding via e-mail with his wife Alicia when figuring out what type of mantle to have built. They have a little one and we were having our little granddaughter over so Alicia offered some ideas of places to take her while she was with us. It was a pleasure having GTL Construction in our home to do this project. We will continue to suport and recommend this local family-owned business.

Tommy, the owner of GTL Construction showed up 10 minutes early for the initial quote/bid. I knew that was a good sign. After getting 5 different bids, I chose GTL Construction. My house had major issues with dry rot damage on the fascia boards and stucco cracks and Tommy put me at ease. He listened to my concerns and responded thoughtfully compared to some painters who didn't even identify the dry rot damage. I liked that Tommy was a general contractor and a painter, so he could do all of the work rather than having to hire a sub-contractor to fix the fascia boards. On the first day, the crew demonstrated their work ethic. Four guys worked all day long and they maintained that pace throughout the week. I'm not sure they ever took a break. They were polite and any one of the crew members could answer me and address my questions. I think being able to communicate with the crew was helpful. The crew spent an entire day patching, filling and repairing my stucco problems and I really liked how they primed, treated and repaired all of the fascia boards. I knew my house was a complicated job and I am very difficult to please, but this company was amazing. Some may think that four coats of paint (spray, backroll, spray again and backroll) is a bit excessive, but I think it makes a huge difference. After the crew was done, they walked around the house with me and asked for feedback. I'm the pickiest of customers and I was going to make sure that I'd find something to address. Any areas of concern were immediately resolved. They exceeded my expectations. The finished product is absolutely gorgeous. And, Tommy even took the time to hang my front door straight since it was not installed properly the first time. I would highly recommend GTL Construction for anyone looking for a superior exterior paint job.

Tommy was prompt and came out to provide an interior paint estimate as well as a crown moulding estimate. Since he was already out here and our house was more than 10 years old with it's orginal builder provided thin coating, I also asked if he could provide an exterior estimate. Not thinking I could swing both at the same time, I was surprised when he came back in with a quote that was competitive, thorough and he had great Angie's List references. His wife Alicia was extra helpful and prompt in coming back wth pricing and a timetable and schedule once we decided it was a go. We decided to delay the crown moulding part of the quote until after the painting was complete so we could evaluate the quality of worksmanship. We ended up being very happy. His crew was always prompt, polite, thorough and never complained when the inevetiable touch ups needed to be done. Even under the brutal conditions of a Roseville summer, they ended up being real good troopers and Tommy and GTL always backed up their committments. Knowing that they do more than painting, will convince me to strongly consider and evaluate them for other aspects of my future home repair and remodeling anmbitions.

GUESS WHAT, TOMMY AT GTL CONSTRUCTION DELIVERED PERFECTION...! To my standards. It was nerve wracking to see my home all covered in plastic and not Model Perfect. Tommy and his crew covered EVERYTHING in plastic from the ceiling fans to the pictures on the walls. He moved all furniture into the center of the room and painted everything. In every room. The speaker covers were wrapped in plastic as well as all the can lights and everything else you can imagine that is on your ceiling. The job took three days to complete and on the second day, I had a panic attack and called Tommy and Alicia, his wife, and left them a voice mail telling them I was freaking out over all the plastic. Tommy was on lunch, he came back right away and told me not to worry, it will be worth it in the end. He held my hand through the entire process and on the third day he left me Edgar to finish up the detail lines where the ceiling meets the wall. I was extremely critical about every line and Edgar cut and painted and caulked everything to perfection The Job is PERFECT and I could not be happier. They cleaned up everything and I could not be happier. The job is beautiful and Edgar is a MASTER at his craft. I would be remiss if I did not mention Alicia, Tommy's wife. She took my phone call on a weekend more than once and responded immediately to me after every call. She set up the schedule and squeezed me in over the holiday weekend so I could have my home done in time for out of town guests coming to visit our home for the first time. She is also Type A and she got me from the start of my first phone call. She is amazing, terrific and goes out of her way to take care of their client,s needs. This is not just a job for this family, it is a passion and it shows in every little detail from start to finish! I am definitely going to have Tommy come back and Quote Crown Moulding in each room of my home! I trust these people with my home and I am comfortable leaving them alone in my home to complete any task I would hire them for. These people know their craft and take it seriously. After this experience, I have been SPOILED by this company and their work ethic, values, and care they put into EACH JOB, no matter the size! I Will never hire any other construction company now, Only GTL CONSTRUCTION!

Their quote amount was too high. It was not within our budget. The guy who came out was nice. I would have considered their services if their estimated amount was lower. I don’t think I would use their services again in the future.

Tommy's crew came out, took the cabinet doors off and removed the drawers. They masked off all areas not to be painted, appliances, etc. Because of the existing finish on the cabinetry, they had to first sand all the areas, which they weren't originally planning on, then put on a primer and two coats of paint. It took them four complete days with two guys working. They did a great job. They have very good attention to detail, get very crisp lines and are very neat. The painting looks great. I don't think they are the cheapest painters out there but they are very good.

Tommy and his team members installed a new pocket door, window and door trim, base boards, and stair trim. All of the window, door, and stair trim were stained and sealed. The baseboards were painted and the top edge sealed to the wall and then repainted. The work had to be scheduled to align to other construction activities. Tommy was able to support the integrated scheduling and he completed all of the work on time. Following the completion of Tommy's work, an un related painting contractor got paint on the top edge of the baseboard - which spoiled the clean edge. Tommy came back - at no charge - and touched up the baseboards with paint to provide a nice clean edge. Tommy also went to great length to describe the trim options available for our stairway. The stairway was fairly complex with mutiple transition points. Tommy's installation was very clean and the end result is excellent. I highly recommend GTL construction. They provide high quality, professional finish carpentry. They were easy to work with and they helped to minimize the impact to our personal and work schedules.

They did a really good job and we've got lots of compliments from our friends. They were much quicker than we expected. Work spaces were always kept clean and neat. When they first did the job, some of the vertical lines where one color meets another were a bit wobbly-looking. When we posted that in our original review, GTL responded within 24 hours offering to fix the lines. They came out and fixed them, and also touched up a spot where a friend's daughter had nicked the paint. It's not too often you give a vendor straight As except for one B, and they still want to do better. Great job, GTL!
